Historic Glen Ellyn Home with Optional Carriage House
Stay in a historic 5-bedroom, 4.5-bath Main House in downtown Glen Ellyn, Illinois. The Main House accommodates up to 11 guests. A maximum of 14 requires the separate 1-bedroom, 1-bath Carriage House to be available and booked separately—it is not included in the base Main House reservation. Please send a booking inquiry before reserving if you would like to add it.
The Dibble Estate is a designated historical landmark within Glen Ellyn’s historic district. Built in 1914 in a Spanish Mediterranean style, it features cream-colored stucco, a classic red-tile roof, and a rich connection to the village’s early history.
The home is designed for large or multiple families: generous gathering spaces are balanced with plenty of quieter corners. The kitchen’s large island is ideal for cooking and connecting. The living room’s vintage furnishings, grand piano, and fireplace invite conversation, music, and the occasional dramatic entrance. Outside, the lush garden and patio were once featured on the cover of Better Homes & Gardens.
The separately listed Carriage House can sometimes be combined with the Main House reservation. Availability and pricing vary by dates and length of stay and must be confirmed before booking.

The house is all you would hope for in a historic home. Our family of 11 was perfectly comfortable, with enough space for us all to gather. Our grandkids played in the yard, and we had a nice fire in the fire pit with s'mores for all. Bob was a wonderful and attentive host.
I can’t say enough good things about our stay at this location. It felt like we were in the middle of Italy, house was clean and felt like home. The house had plenty of room for the 12 of us to hang out and sleep, the kitchen/eating area and the outside by the fire pit were a hit. There was plenty of laughs and memories made. Bob was GREAT responding to our questions, and recommended great places to visit while there, he even had a coffee pot delivered to us within 15 min. I highly recommend this place, it’s in a great area, plenty of parking and a huge place to hang out. We appreciate everything and would definetly stay here if we come back.Manny
This property was amazing! We hosted friends from all over the country for a reunion and it could not have been more perfect for our group. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor fireplace, the kitchen and gathering spaces. All of the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were lovely . Bob, the owner, was great and responsive to all our needs. I would highly recommend this property!
Spacious house that was a perfect blend of historic old and modern updates that made it quite comfortable and enjoyable! Bob was wonderful with communication and the whole experience was smooth and stress free
We traveled to Glen Ellen for our son’s wedding. The property was perfectly suited to hosting the groomsmen the morning of the wedding and an open house brunch the day after. Bob was great, responded to any issues quickly and was committed to making our family feeling welcome.
Incredibly beautiful property for our wedding weekend
Thank you for a wonderful weekend in Glen Ellyn, Bob! My wife and I got married at the Morton Arboretum and wanted a place to stay with our bridal parties. Bob’s beautiful home served as the PERFECT location to get ready and rest all weekend. The house truly feels magical, and we still have family and friends commenting on how beautiful the home was. We highly recommend booking for anyone who needs a place to stay with a larger party!
We stayed four nights with our kids and grandkids. It was the perfect house for our family with ample room, a great location and wonderful historic features. It is a beautiful home, nestled in the historic district of charming Glen Ellyn, close to the Lake Ellen Park as well as downtown Glen Ellyn. Cold weather and rain prevented us from being able to use the cozy patio, firepit and huge outdoor fireplace, but would be a great added benefit when the weather is right. Bob the host was very attentive and super responsive to all of our questions. Truly a terrific long weekend all around!
Comfortable stay in a unique and historical Glen Ellyn home
My family loved our stay at Bob's home. In the description, he mentions that he loves for people to stay here and that definitely shines through in the overall experience. Whether it was the easy communication with Bob throughout or the numerous amenities, he made us feel very welcome. Unlike other rentals we have stayed in that are vacation properties, this felt more like we were staying at the home of a friend. All the rooms were comfortable and we had everything we could possible need. We hosted a large dinner with family from the area and everyone raved about this home. The location was excellent for walking to the park/lake and to downtown. We were sad to leave but will definitely be using this property again in the future.
The property is excellent in a lot of aspects. Firstly, it is aesthetically beautiful, the decor is very homely and inviting, and most rooms have attached bathrooms with them, which makes it easy to have a gathering of large groups of people without compromising on privacy. The outdoor setting is beautiful and cozy as well. The property is also historic, so great for hosting events and photos for any big events. The host was very welcoming, understanding and communicative. The instructions for entry and checkout were good, but would suggest any future guests to look it up on a larger screen, rather than on the phone. We enjoyed the stay immensely and tried to use all the great things that the property has to offer. From playing the piano, to enjoying bonfires and drinks outside, and everything in between. A complete hoot. The street parking is an issue, we got a parking ticket at 5:12 AM even though the guest parked the car at 5 AM and not overnight. But that is more on the city and their laws, but something that future guests can be aware of.

Thanks Rajat! Enjoyed having you and your guests and super lame about the ticket! Some cop was real bored for that one. Hopefully wasn’t an issue dealing with! But helpful to know. Again thanks and happy to host anytime back in the area!
The host was easy to communicate with and helped the stay go smoothly.Beautiful home. Highly recommend.

Beautiful home with interesting furnishings and displays. Very comfortable for a family gathering. Be aware that there are several steps up from the back entrance to the main floor. Our guests all commented on the delightful showers.

Guess what? I'm not a management company!
I actually love it when people get to stay in this home. I may be a smidge biased, but it is my favorite home in Glen Ellyn after all (a true statement long before becoming the homeowner)!
And fortunately for you, my kids have "graduated" from home life and I have plenty of travel opportunities. So, rather than the home and/or carriage house sitting empty, I would love the opportunity to host you!
Why they chose this property
Glen Ellyn is the quintessential "charming village" in the Chicagoland area. The vibrant local downtown blends small-town warmth with big-city amenities. Directly west of Chicago, Glen Ellyn offers a picturesque setting with tree-lined streets, historic architecture, a bustling shopping and foodie scene, and a welcoming community atmosphere that's hard to find elsewhere.
Glen Ellyn is known for diverse historic architecture as the village expanded with a local rule that similar architectural style cannot be replicated on the same block. And it is now known for some of the best local restaurants outside of the city itself.
In fact, the popular local corner cafe, Blackberry Market, that anchors the downtown area is owned by yours truly!
What makes this property unique
The "Dibble Estate", as it is locally referred to, is one of the most unique homes in town. It still sits on two parcels and is one of the only homes in town that features a Mediterranean revival style wrapped in a beautiful stucco and with an old world red clay tile roof.
The property is also one of the very few homes in town to be "grandfathered-in" with a fully equipped carriage house, which is now a spacious 1 bedroom apartment.
With all of this said, one of the most memorable elements of the estate is the European inspired patio and landscaping, which was once featured on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens and is perfect for entertaining or finding that much needed respite.
