We stayed at Steve’s place for just under a month while awaiting the arrival of our baby girl, and it truly became a home away from home for us.At this stage in life, I’m pretty particular about where I’m living, sleeping, and spending my days, and this was one of those rare places that felt easy to settle into immediately. The home was warm, comfortable, thoughtfully stocked, and perfect for a longer stay. One thing that genuinely surprised us was how quiet it was. Being only about a five-minute walk from the Capitol building, we expected more city noise, but it was actually quieter than our suburban neighborhood in Los Angeles, which made us laugh. The location was fantastic for exploring Harrisburg. We loved being able to walk to restaurants, museums, the movie theater, and around the city during such a beautiful spring season. We ran into a couple small issues during our stay, including a water-related issue and a missing bathtub stopper, but Steve and the property managers were incredibly responsive and handled everything quickly and efficiently. Communication throughout our stay was excellent. We especially appreciated Steve’s flexibility before we arrived when our dates shifted unexpectedly. He remembered our situation and reached back out when availability opened up, which really stood out to us.Overall, this was a charming, peaceful, and genuinely lovely place to stay. We made very special memories here while waiting to welcome our daughter into the world, an
This spacious gem of a place was clean, cozy and the host was easy to get ahold of. His directions were clear and concise with a welcome book that detailed all the features of the house. This renovated historic house was decorated with bright art work and beautiful plants! I just loved how clean it was too. The beds were comfortable too! We would stay here again and also highly recommend this place for future guests. It was walking distance to the capital, river, coffee shops and restaurants too.
Steve’s a great host, providing detailed illustrations and information about access to the parking lot, just around the corner from this home‘s inviting entrance. Meticulously clean and very well appointed, this remodeled home features contemporary design and artwork, while retaining the best features of its historic character. This is an inviting and comfortable haven following several days of exploring Lancaster, Gettysburg and Harrisburg. The state capitol is a short walk from the front door, and provides a great perch to view a boulevard packed with historic churches, offering an architectural feast. Interesting murals around every corner makes this location perfect for exploring the local eateries on foot. So much to see - a week was not enough. We’re looking forward to again visiting this “home away from home”!

About the host
Your host
I'm from Harrisburg PA and have been renting out my place for over two years! I enjoy creating inviting spaces that bring people together. I put a lot of work into renovating and updating this historic home in PA. Hope you enjoy.
Why they chose this property
This area is centrally located in Harrisburg. I like how close you are to the Capitol or to walk by the river. I also love how close it is to restaurants / coffee shops etc.
What makes this property unique
It was originally built in 1865. It's an old home with a lot of character and I enjoyed trying to figure out how to maximize each space.
