About sally kuhn

We both grew up in Arkansas but with school have lived in Texas, Florida, Tennessee and Maryland. We eventually ended up in the Nashville area.

Our favorite family vacation is hiking, especially in the Smokies. We are trying to hit all the national parks with our kids.

sally kuhn purchased this cabin in 2010

Why sally kuhn chose Townsend

We love the outdoors which is what drew us to this beautiful secluded cabin. We bought the cabin to have a vacation home that our kids would be drawn back to every year as they get older. We hope you and your family will enjoy it as much as we do and will use it to lure your family back together at special times.

What makes this cabin unique

We love the seclusion of the cabin and the changing views from the porch. Every 15 minutes the shadows and clouds have changed the incredible views off the deck. We also like the the easy access to the park and love being able to sneak in through Maryville instead of getting stuck in the traffic of Pigeon Forge.

We come to the Smokies to get away from it all. This cabin allows you to do that while still being within striking distance of all the go karts, funnel cake, and outlet malls we can handle.

The 9 acres has a stream and waterfall which was an added bonus we discovered after we bought it. Our kids have now become expert salamander hunters in the creek below the falls.

Great Stay at Antelope Mountain Lodge

  • 5 of 5

From rockers lining the wrap around porches, you’ll enjoy the fog settled into the valleys and sunsets over the trees. We grilled our dinner and ate outside every night of our stay. While the weather was beautiful for most of our stay, we had a lot of fun with all of the basement games during the brief rainy spells. The bedrooms are all comfortable and provide a pleasant place to sleep. Everything in the kitchen worked well, making it easy to manage meals. The cabin is well located to get into the Smokies and experience all they have to offer.

Met our needs

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was the right size for our group of 8 people and was quiet. The kitchen and bathrooms were adequately equipped to meet our needs. However from the start it was obvious it had not been cleaned recently. There was trash, dust, and food crumbs under the table and chairs. The decks all needed sweeping, including a dead bat on the main level deck. The hot tub was slimmy around the cover. We encountered a yellow jacket colony around the steps up the main level deck and wasps in the cabin. There was also a water issue in the closet housing the water tank and filter downstairs. We did call the maintenance person for the cabin, who did respond promptly.

All in all, the cabin met our needs, but we do feel that it could certainly use some general catchup maintenance and cleaning, especially on the outside. Outside landscaping suffers from some neglect also.

On the bright side, we did sight a bear on the property the first day, and the view is beautiful.

Lovely home in great location

  • 4 of 5

This is a lovely home in a very convenient location to Townsend, TN and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We enjoyed a week of tubing and hiking with the whole family. Very spacious and comfortable home. As the owner advertised, wifi internet access is unreliable, but we were in clear view of a cell tower and had excellent signal.

Decent cabin minor problems

  • 3 of 5

This cabin was exactly what we wanted when we booked this vacation. However we had to replace at least 10 bulbs on our own. Also the hot tub was pretty dirty, so the cleaning manager came out drained it and cleaned everything except the jets. So when we went to get in it the next night it sprayed out some really brown water. However the owner of the property is really responsive and nice. Cleaning manager was also very responsive and came out at 10:30 to try and solve the problem.

Great space with a great view

  • 5 of 5

The layout worked great for our group of ten. There was a lot of rain, so we really enjoyed the covered deck and the game room downstairs.

Had a great time.

  • 4 of 5

Had a great time. Had an issue with the water and the owners were helpful and kind and they were able to resolve the problem on New Years Eve with a technician. Beds are comfortable. Cabin needs some TLC with certain small things but overall is a beautiful cabin. Kitchen well equipped. Did some hiking around the cabin. Easy to get to...we ended up arriving at night time and it was a little difficult to find. Once you know where it is you can drive at night.
