3 bedroom, 2 1/2 baths, dock on creek across from Pawley's.
Hankins Haven is a beautifully built traditional lowcountry house with a wraparound porch (screened on the creek side), three bedrooms, two and a half baths, and glass doors with a view of the marsh from both the living room and the kitchen/dining area.
The house is available for rental, and is available by the week only, Saturday-Saturday. We're sorry that we can't rent for shorter times.
We do not rent to house parties.
It sleeps six comfortably and dogs are welcome. A dock on the creek provides access for kayaks, easy fishing and crabbing, and a lovely place to sit and watch birds and other wildlife.
Hankins Haven is on the mainland side of the creek. You can quickly drive or take a boat to the island--about 15 minutes, however you go.
In a beautiful natural setting, you'll see birds at all seasons. Big glass doors and windows facing the creek let you be a part of the outdoors while you're comfortable inside, or you can sit on the dock and watch the sun rise or set. Take a kayak back into unspoiled marshes or to the beach. A short drive takes you to historic houses, churches, and gardens, or to the surf at Pawley's.

About Tom and Ann Hankins
The Hankins family has always loved this part of the coast, and building this house in the early 80's was really a joy. We've come with friends for fishing, dancing, and good times ever since.
Tom and Ann Hankins purchased this Cottage in 1980
Why Tom and Ann Hankins chose Pawleys Island
On the water, but away from the crowds, close to Pawley's but quiet and safe. It's a perfect place for couples and small families with older children--and dogs!--to enjoy and study nature. Hankins Haven is managed by Tom and Ann Hankins.
What makes this Cottage unique
Hankins Haven offers access to the creek from our dock, so that you can go to the island or explore the creek, and also has lots of places for quiet walks, family meals, and lots of porch sitting.

Great creek access and terrific crabbing. Trip to the beach pretty easy though it seems a distance away. Excellent house for folks who love the marsh, rocking on the porch, and relaxing. Our granddaughter said it best "she had everything she needed right there" we will come back, but have these suggestions: stretch the hammock one more post, need a good grits pot, and a crab tongs for cooking. Add an outside shower and it would be perfection!
We are so happy that you had a good stay. By the way, the outside shower is on our list of "adds".
The house is nice but dated. great location . We stayed a week and never got the TV to Work. Called owner and never able to get it fixed.
We were very sorry our guest was without TV service on the downstairs set. After receiving our guests recorded message I made 2 calls that were unanswered in the early evening, another unanswered call in the a.m. and finally succeeded in reaching our guest on the golf course. We agreed that at 6 pm our guest would call us to see if we could resolve the problem. Having received no call at the agreed time, I called at 7:00 pm but got no answer. I placed calls the next two days to our guests both on a cell phone and our house phone but the calls were unanswered. It now being midweek I assumed, regrettably, that the problem with the TV had been resolved. Otherwise, I thought I would have heard back. The problem was with the TV controller and a relatively simple fix but I would have needed to talk our guest through the required button pushing.
I certainly hope any future guests will not hesitate to call us and respond to our return calls so that such problems can be speedily resolved. The enjoyment of our guests is our top priority
Relaxing Family Spring Break!
We enjoyed the house and its peaceful location. Relaxing on the dock each evening was a family favorite. The house was conveniently located to water sports, Mini golf in Myrtle Beach and several good restaurants. We look forward to staying at Hankins Haven in the future.
Darren, we are so glad you and your family had a good stay at Hankins Haven, and we look forward to having you back. Thanks. Tom and Ann Hankins.
We will return!!
Debbie found Hankins on the Internet. The week rental seemed worth it even if we were only able to stay 5 days. But my grown daughters were able to fill in the first two alone till we joined them. The house is wonderful, big, roomy, decent kitchen, comfortable beds, and dog-friendly for the girls Schnauzer and Australian Cattle Dog. We did so much, but different things than we'd anticipated and all decided we'd return to "finish" it. Debbie and David, US Virgin Islands
David and Debbie, we are so happy that you had such a good time and great reunion with your girls at Pawleys. We look forward to your returning to Hankins Haven in the future. Best regards, Tom and Ann Hankins
A fantastic Birthday and 30th anniversary vacation.
Had a terrific time at our home for a week on the creek! Just the two of us and our two doggies. How nice to find a place that will let us bring our "kids" with us. Home is clean and matched the description. Owner's are great and easy to contact. We brought our own kayaks and had a blast in the creek. Fun to watch the tides change and the beautiful birds right from the screen porch (which is huge!). Home is in a very nice quite neighborhood with no traffic. Only a short drive to the beautiful south end of Pawley's island where there is a nice beach. We brought our bikes so we parked at Lowes Market ( five minutes away ) and rode to beach. It's a short ride. Lots of things to do close by. The bike trail from Litchfield to Murrell's Inlet is great. Great place to stay. Check out Moe's restaurant!
So glad that you guys had a great time kayaking, biking and just sitting on the porch watching the creek go by. We hope you have an opportunity to come again. We appreciate your wonderful review.
We stayed at Hankins Haven for the Fourth of July. It was beautiful and peaceful. We spent the entire time our on the dock, paddling around or enjoying the wonderful back porch. I loved the quiet neighborhood. We had a tiny problem with the hot water when we arrived. The owners dealt with it quickly and very professionally (just a flipped fuse). Next time I need a week of peace, we will be back. The week week were there was the week of hurricane Arthur. No problem. The house did great. We enjoyed watching the storm go by from the porch. Thanks Tom and Anne for a great week.
Robin, we are so happy that you had such a good time at Hankins Haven. It is such a wonderful spot to do as little or as much as you wish. We hope you will keep us in mind for any future vacation plans at Pawleys. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this nice review!

The beach and historic houses and churches at Pawley's are old and famous, and near by are Brookgreen Gardens with outdoor sculpture and gardens, Georgetown's historical district, many restaurants, shops, bars, and great golf courses. Crabbing in the creek is wonderful! Kayak nearby into undeveloped marsh areas with old shell mounds--see eagles and osprey fly overhead. Nearby are deep-sea fishing tours and kayak tours of black water swamps.
