About the property

6 Bedrooms, 5 Bathrooms (sleeps 12)

Completed in 2013, Stubbs Cove Overlook sits on a gentle hill on the public side with spectacular views of the main lake.

GAME CHANGER: One of the biggest complements we receive is that 4 of our bedrooms have their own private/attached bathrooms. Talk about stress reduction with lots of friends and family staying together! This unique feature is one that brings guests back time after time. In addition, we added walk-in closets to 4 of our bedrooms to allow separate sleeping for little ones in pack-n-plays. This too has turned out to be a great aspect for many families.

The yard has a gentle slop down to a great boat house perfect for sunning, swimming, fishing and playing on the cozy beach. Our beach provides great access to the water with a sandy shallow bottom perfect for all ages. The end of the dock provides deep water of 4 - 6 feet depending on rain fall.

Stubbs Cove is a great inlet that allows quick access to main lake but allows for safe swimming off our private dock. We are right beside Lake Anna State Park which provides boat access to the Stubbs Cove area.

The home is designed like a bed and breakfast with relaxation in mind. Beautiful finishes are used throughout with fine woods, granite, oil-rubbed bronze and other modern features. Attention to detail can be seen with such amenities as a walk-in pantry, laundry chute, tv/game room, spacious garage and beautiful wood-burning, 2-story, stone fireplace with wood beams.

***Boat-Slip with Swim Platform and Beach***

***Paddle Boat***

***Stone Firepit***

***10 min to groceries/restaurants***

The home has five bedrooms, a den/loft, and an office.

The house has five full baths, four of which are directly attached to bedrooms. The three bedrooms downstairs all have main lake views, each with their own full bathroom and double French doors, giving these 3 bedrooms the feel of private hotel rooms.

The master bedroom upstairs has gorgeous lake views, its own full bath, luxurious tile floors, and a large soaking tub and separate shower.

The private loft and home office can be used for sleeping as well.

The second bedroom upstairs serves as a bunk room and has four beds as well as a full/large-bathroom across the hall.

Downstairs also has a TV/Game room with foosball table and flat-screen with Dish Satellite/DVD, and great selection of board games and movies.

Whether you are enjoying the sun-deck of the large, two-slip, boat house (one of the slips is available for guests to use for their boat); paddling around in the 4-person paddle boat; soaking up the rays or grilling your favorite meal on the large house deck; roasting marshmallows around the fire-pit; or just relaxing by taking-in the lake views - - you will enjoy the outdoors at Stubbs Cove.

There is so much to do within an hour of our location, or just enjoy all the lake activities.

About Arielle and Tom

We are a fun-loving, Christian family who enjoys being outdoors and getting away from the hustle and bustle of Northern Virginia. Stubbs Cove Overlook is our 'little piece of heaven' that makes a perfect escape for our Heffernan clan. From our 20-month old to our parents who are in their 60s and 70s our house is a great retreat for all ages.

Arielle and Tom purchased this house in 2013

What makes this house unique

We really gave a lot of thought to having a well laid out home for a lot of people. One thing people mention over and over is that having four of our six bedrooms with their own adjoining bathrooms really makes things a lot less stressful with getting ready. Another item people enjoy is that we included 4 of our bedrooms with walk-in closets that can accomodate pack-in-plays to give little ones their own space as well!

At the top of the list of what people like is enjoying our water site with its beach and sunning deck. And of course everyone LOVES the large fire pit and enjoying the stars while roasting marshmallows!

Perfect Family Vacation Home!

  • 5 of 5

WOW! This home was perfect for our family vacation (8 adults and 2 children.) Not only is it a beautiful, comfortable home (with a bathroom off each room ~ SO nice!) but the lake view was perfection. We especially enjoyed hanging out at the boat dock where the little ones had a sandy area to play along with a shallow wade in area. (The baby turtles that swam around & delighted all with their antics were especially endearing!) We had family cook-outs and home cooked meals every night & then enjoyed the full moon & stars with s'mores in the fire pit. Linens are provided but no bath towels, which we somehow missed reading, but made do with our beach towels. No one complained, that's for sure. If you want a week of fun filled memories with your family, this is your house. Many thanks from the Faris Family!

Spectacular Week at Lake Anna

  • 5 of 5

Our family had just a terrific week at Arielle and Tom's property. The house was perfect for us - having enough room for the family, including spaces for people to "get away" when they needed to. Those spaces weren't used much though as we were outside for the vast majority of the time we were there. Everything was well appointed and we had pretty much anything we needed. The loft space served as a playroom for the kids, so all the toys we brought with us were "out of sight!" It took us a night or two to figure out the perfect thermostat settings, but once we did, we were very comfortable throughout the day and a night despite temperatures in the high 90s.

Our mornings were spent on the deck overlooking the lake with our coffee while the kids and everyone woke up. After breakfast and a good lathering of sunscreen, we were off to the dock for the day. The beach and swimming area was perfect for the two 3 year olds (and the rest of us). We made use of the paddle boat and new SUP Paddle Board almost daily and the kids loved catching fish right off the dock. We rented a boat for the week and the dock was perfectly accommodating. There were also plenty of nice chairs for us all to sit in. Our only issue at the dock was that a circuit breaker in the locked boathouse tripped midway through our stay, so we had no lights at night.

Evenings were just as pleasant - sometime we just spent time on the deck, but most nights we enjoyed sitting around the fire pit roasting marshmallows, telling stories, and laughing.

There were really only two things that I would recommend having addressed. 1st, the dishwasher was a little tough to get started (but it did work). 2nd - we also had a very mobile one-year old with us, so we needed to block off the stairwells. The house had a couple of baby gates, but two of them were broken and weren't convenient. We thankfully brought ours from home that had "doors" - so I would recommend that for anyone with very small kiddos.

Overall, this was a very special week for our family. Everyone had a wonderful time and we were so sad to leave on Saturday morning. We hope to come back to this house many times in the future.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you all had a wonderful time and are delighted that you plan to come back! So wish you had told us about the baby gates - - we actually have two spare ones just in case one gets broken. The fishing is definitely a MUST especially in our cove. We always see fishing boats come there in the wee morning hours. Our kids love fishing with their Uncle off the dock too. We agree that the only sad thing about the time at the Lake is having to leave! Many Blessings to you! The Heffernans

Our third year and still a charm!

  • 5 of 5

This was the third year we had our family vacation at Tom and Arielle's beautiful Lake Anna home. Each year we have thoroughly enjoyed the spacious and wonderfully maintained home. It is so nice to be able to move in knowing that everything you need is ready and waiting. The extra refrigerator was a nice bonus this year. The boat house, dock, paddle boat and sandy beach provided entertainment for kids of all ages, and at night the beautifully designed fire pit was the perfect way to end the day. We continue to be so thankful that Tom and Arielle have opened their lake home for others to enjoy.
