Ready to go back
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Blue Lagoon. We chose the North Shore to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. The cottage has a lot of character and was very comfortable. We enjoyed snorkeling and inspecting the tide pools for little fish during low tide. It was nice to sit out in the yard and on the lanai for meals or to just enjoy the view. The only thing missing was a copy of the North Shore in the DVD collection!
Have been staying here since 1996 just left and can't wait to get back
This house is magical and Stephanie is a wonderful host. Great Surf during the season out front. You can do the surf report from looking at the window. Just an incredibly special place.
Amazing Beach House
This was the perfect beach house. Well stocked with everything we needed for a week long stay. The "private" beach setting in our back yard with the reef for snorkeling made every day a perfect Hawaii beach day. The sunsets were amazing. The one full bathroom situation was not a problem, especially with the half bath and the out door shower (with hot and cold water). Even without air-conditioning in most of the house, the fans and the breeze from the beach were all that was needed. We loved this place, and want to return with the entire family. This place is perfect for just adults or those with small children. Thank you.
Slice of Paradise
Sheer perfection! This truly is the best secluded beach ever ever ever! Our family had a better time there than we could have ever hoped for. The house sits on an amazing property, with billion dollar picturesque views. The house itself is a charming beach house that worked awesomely for our family. It's truly living like a local, in a space you never want or need to leave. Would love to stay here again one day. For now we will have the fondest memories of this dreamy beach house.
This was our first trip to Oahu and it exceeded our expectations. I don't think we could have found a better place to stay.
Blended family holiday - 8 adults
Perfect place to kick off your shoes and relax right on the beach. Views are amazing! Not fancy but very practical and has everything you need. Swim towels, dishes, laundry and linens included. We had 6 adults kids altogether utilizing the home, and the little cottage for us (the parents) which was a perfect get away including air conditioning, bathroom and kitchen!!
The home feels like a surfer cottage with all the amenities necessary for a short or long stay. We pre-planned a menu for the week, and stopped at Costco to purchase all our food. However Foodland is also close - so last minute items were only a few miles away in either direction. (Make sure you sign up for a discount card at the till - well worth it!!) We had lots of room for dinner around the table indoors, or outdoors. There were plenty of places for everyone to do their own thing on the property.
The ocean out front was excellent on calm days for families, but I wouldn't have young kids unsupervised out front -- too much of a current on a windy day. Beach was excellent for a jog or walk. You can watch surfers from the yard on the days when the surf is perfect. BUT, NOT a beginner area. We took lessons from Uncle Brian's down towards Haleiwa and they had a perfect set up for beginner to intermediate. They have a van parked along the beach and you can sign up a day ahead.
We took a hike up to Manoa Falls - closer to Honolulu and it was perfect for all ages -- right through a bamboo forest up to the falls. The last part is a little steeper, but very doable for pretty much everyone with a good pair of runners. (approx. 2 hours round trip from parking lot to falls)
We all loved the Tuna Poke (pronounced poh-kay)Bowls and could purchase them from the Foodland Fish area for way cheaper than the food trucks - just ask for Poke Bowl with Rice.
We rented a van from Lucky OWL car rental (a bit farther from the airport) and they were extremely helpful with the rental of our 8 passenger van and drove us right to the airport when returning the van. Very friendly and affordable (non luxury) .... We drove around the whole island and enjoyed Kailua beach for an afternoon, which is excellent for smaller kids and families for a day outing. Try to get there early in the day. It's an absolutely gorgeous sand beach with calm aqua water -- always a great breeze.
Waimea and Haleiwa were a short 10 min drive in either direction from the Cottage.
Overall a great experience. Thank you Stephanie:)
This is a classic Hawaiian beachfront home, built in the forties. Most of these type houses have been torn down and replaced by McMansions along the North Shore. Many celebrities return to this home's laid back vibe. It is right in front of the surf break called Leftovers and to the left is Chuns Reef, perfect for beginner surfers. The home is a rustic North Shore home with an extraordinary beach out front.
