Mountain Top Private Estate, With 360 Degree Vistas Of The Sea And Mountains

Private apartment in 42 acre gated estate on a mountain top, with dramatic views of the ocean below, and a backdrop of the Kalmiopsis wilderness mountains behind and wonderful sunsets. Large one bedroom with California King bed and individually adjusted mattresses on each side, encased by windows on two sides to enable unobstructed white water views of Pelican Bay and the Winchuck River Valley below. Large full bathroom, kitchenette and living room.

Outside of the private entrance, you'll find a Jacuzzi (great for enjoying the sunsets over the ocean) as well as an outdoor bench to enjoy the privacy and environment, watch for whales or read that book you've been putting off. It's very quiet, with the soft and gentle, but unmistakable sound of the surf below you. In the back are hiking and biking trails extending for miles into the unpopulated California and Oregon forests. The beach is accessible by a 5 minute drive below the property. There are opportunities for beachcombing where we actually find agates. you can collect mussels or crabs and cook them for dinner. You can venture to Redwood National Park located 18 miles to the south, and the famous Rouge River with jet boat rides in Gold Beach 40 minutes away.
If you want to relax and get away from the stress and too many people this rental is for you.
We are 9 miles to Brookings, Oregon where there are great restaurants, shopping, The Port, and hundreds of hiking trails viewing the ocean and the redwoods. We have 4 rivers locally, they are the Rogue, WinChuck, Smith River and the Chetco.

This location is perfect for a person who needs to be able to work. They internet speed is great, there is a large desk, monitor and chair.

No pets or smoking of any type allowed.

Such wonderful people and stellar views. Even on those foggy mornings, I could have sat and watched the clouds roll in and out all day. There isn't a full kitchen, but I made do with the hot plate (just something I thought folks should know). The bed was super comfortable. All good really. It was also delightful to watch the bats play just after sunset. Beautiful environment all around, lovely people. And a sweet pup as well. Charlie! I hope to stay again sometime. It was a peaceful location to get some writing done. Thank you!

This VBRO exceeded my expectations. The views were absolutely breathtaking—sunrises over the mountains and sunsets that lit up the ocean. This was everything the comments said. Relaxing, quiet (sorry if we got loud!!!), amazing view of the mountains to the north and ocean to the west. The sunset was beautiful. The bedroom views were nice to wake up to. The only thing I would suggest is maybe have a walkway to the entrance. I didn’t mind going through the grass, but didn’t want to get my shoes wet. Thanks for recommending the food! Such a peaceful mini-weekend vacation for myself and bff!! Thanks again for hosting and will definitely be returning!

The approach was a little difficult but once I arrived it was perfect! The host and hostess are lovely people. The lodging is beautiful, nicely quiet ( I wanted to write), super comfortable and there are not adequate words for the view! Perfect!!

As many other reviews state, the views are incredible and the hosts are very nice. However, two aspects were disappointing. First, sleeping. The bed was uneven and uncomfortable and there were only two, flat, non-decorative pillows for the two of us. We didn’t sleep well, and then were woken early by the hosts’ dog barking outside our window and sprinklers going off at 650 am. Second, cleanliness. The hot tub was cloudy and the water felt oily, to the point that we didn’t want to go in more than once. The towels provided also smelled like mildew. These things may be fine for some people with their own belongings, or for friends staying for free, but unfortunately aren’t professional for the price being charged.

Patti and Rodney are wonderful hosts! Their place was spotless, comfortable, and had amazing views. Sitting in the hot tub overlooking the ocean was really nice. The location of the place between Brookings and the Redwoods made it easy to enjoy the Natl Park yet still have quick access to good food and shopping. The flowers are so beautiful here! Highly recommend this place!

Patti’s place was amazing from the moment we drove in. The view of the ocean, the gorgeous valley and her impressive gardens set the tone before we walked in the apartment. The save was clean, spacious, well appointed and everything we needed.

Redwood Mountain retreat.

This property is nestled in a gated community at the top of a mountainside, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and the town of Brookings, Oregon—just a short 15-minute drive away. Each day was an adventure, from hiking through the majestic redwoods to kayaking down the Chetco River. Evenings were pure magic, soaking in our private hot tub just outside the door, watching stunning sunsets and peaceful sunrises. Our host communicated clearly and offered great recommendations on what to see and do. It truly felt like a hidden paradise—well worth the visit.
Boy Scout Trail was in recommendation from Patty, which was an amazing 5 1/2 mile hike

Absolutely beautiful and perfect

I had to travel to Crescent city for work and found this property which was a 30 minute drive to my workplace but well worth the drive. The hosts are amazing. The living quarters is perfect for a couple and beautiful. Nothing beats the view from this property. You have the perfect view of the mountains and the ocean. The property is just a short drive to the beach, and to the redwood forest. We went to the Grove of the Titans and Stout Grove as recommended by the hosts and was absolutely beautiful. We wish we had more time as I heard that Smith river is absolutely beautiful to Kayak down and is not far from the property. You can rent Kayaks also not far from the property. We will definitely come back and stay here again should work bring me back to the area. A big thank you to the hosts!!

Beautiful Views! Fantastic Location!

We loved our stay! We spent both evenings relaxing on the lawn, watching the sunset over the ocean—it was absolutely beautiful. The location is perfect: close to everything you'd want to see in the area, yet far enough away to feel peaceful and private. The space was comfortable, and the kitchenette had everything we needed. The hosts were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We had a fantastic time!

Beautiful views!

I enjoyed my stay overall. It was quiet and it had beautiful and magical views! Patti and Rodney were very attentive and where there to greet me when I arrived along with their sweet dog Sharlie . However I did make some suggestions to Patti such as providing a cozy blanket for the couch and that more attention to the bath area would have been nice. I will add now that having more towels available for the hottub and bathing area would be great in the future. I was able to catch a sunset and took lots of beautiful photos. I hope to stay again in the future!and more towels for the bathroom.

Beautiful views, relaxing stay

The property is beautiful, fantastic views, quiet and relaxing. Comfortable bed. A little bit of a challenge to find the place, but worth it once we got there. Property owners were friendly and helpful. We love the whole area.

We moved up from LA 14 years ago, and have operated a software and consulting business from this location. The climate and location make us feel like it's the perfect place to live, whether its sunny or rainy. We love the outdoors, whether it is walking our cute town or our beautiful beaches. My husband has fished all over the US and says we do have world-class fishing.

This is a downstairs apartment with a private entrance in our custom home on top of a 42 acre estate. We built the custom home on this property seeking the ideal combination of privacy, ocean views and sounds, as well as being able to see far into the back country (there's nothing much behind us for 100 miles).
You can see snowcapped vistas 80 miles away during the winter.

We are close to the beach. We have 3 National Parks within 20 minutes, there are trails to hike and great antiquing and shopping in Brookings. There is a fun port with great coffee, pizza, and restaurants. We have two movie theaters, antiquing, shopping and the best beach walks along a craggy coastline.
You can look at the shooting stars and pick out the constellations. You will feel like you can touch the moon! you will love it here.
We have elk, deer and beautiful soaring birds. We probably have 40 different kind of birds and occasionally see bald eagles right from our bench staring at the beach.
