Lake Erie Beachfront Cottage Near Geneva State Park Lodge

Bedrooms 2
Space 850 sq ft
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Beautiful, small, lakefront cottage modestly decorated in nautical theme, overlooking private sand and stone beach with lake frontage. The spectacular sunsets sold us on this home, and we enjoy the nearby area, too. Situated amongst other weekend get-away homes, this is a fabulous spot to relax on the deck overlooking the grassy hill leading down to the beach, watch the waves rolling in, the Great Lakes ships passing by on the horizon, the sun dappling the waves in the morning and setting so dramatically in the evening.

This is also a lovely spot Ohio's beautiful Fall season. The area is filled with fall foliage, remarkably tasty wineries with farm to table restaurants, covered bridges, bike trails, and local festivals. Fall is fantastic.

Our children love going into Geneva-on-the-Lake, with its 1950's shopping strip-lined with amusement halls, putt-putt golf, waterslides, shops, and restaurants. We enjoy visiting Geneva State Park with its lodge and marina, the wineries in the area, the beautiful covered bridges and great antique shops in Ashtabula Harbor, and incredible views as you drive along the lake. An hour to Erie, Pennsylvania, and an hour to downtown Cleveland, the area remains quiet and serene, not overly built and commercialized.

After a day of exploring, we can enjoy a full meal cooked in the ample kitchen (with full-size refrigerator and gas oven, plenty of kitchenware) while the kids pop in a video or DVD in the living room with fireplace (fold-out couch for one person sleeping) with a sliding glass door leading to the deck overlooking Lake Erie. There is an enclosed porch (with outdoor furniture) and sleeper sofa, also overlooking the lake.

Updated furniture in the living room, with new Crate & Barrel arm chairs and a pull-out couch.

The master bedroom features a king-size bed and plentiful storage in the dresser. The other bedroom features a bunkbed perfect for kids, with a twin-size bed on top, and a full-size mattress below, dresser storage, and a TV with VHS. There is also an attached one-car garage which we use to store firewood, lawncare equipment. It is not available to guests.

We love swimming in the summer, and awesome views of nature in the fall. We enjoy all the amenities of the area, including great golfing nearby, full service groceries in Geneva and Ashtabula. We know we will be spending the next few years just taking in all that the area has to offer from wineries to local theatre in Ashtabula, to covered bridge and grape festivals, to glorious lake views.

We have free wireless available, and a local calls only phone. There is cable TV and plenty of dvds, videos and loads of cds from jazz to pop to classical. Beach access is shared with two other cottages with Access across a private yard and down a short breakwall. There is no access with stairs. This is a quiet, family friendly beach, great for sea glass and fossil hunting in the day and bonfires at night. You are welcome to bring your dog, if he or she is well-behaved! There is no air conditioning. we have found our ceiling fans do just fine on the lake.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I'm writing to let you know that everything went very well this past weekend for myself and guests at the cottage. The accommodations were exactly what we were hoping for and served our needs perfectly. Thank you for your consideration and kindness and I can assure you that several folks in my party will be contacting you in the future for their family arrangements to stay as well.

This is a lake front with lake breezes, screen porch and wide open deck and ceiling and floor fans but no airconditioning. Beach access is over a break wall--swimming is lovely but the beach comes and goes as it is Lake Erie and always changeable. A stone and sand beach.

Very cozy and beautiful sunsets

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 4days over the Labor Day weekend. We spent a day in Cleveland, a day on the beach, and most of our times were at the lake house enjoying the view. Thank you for having us. It was one of the more memorable vacation, our kiddo loved every minute of it.

Gorgeous views! Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful time at this adorable lakefront cottage. Location is fantastic and the cottage is very well-appointed with paper products, towels and linens, etc. We were able to bring our dog, which is a must for us!

We enjoyed dining on the deck and taking in the spectacular views, and swimming right there in the lake. Husband used the grill with no issues. We also enjoyed other watersports on the lake via convenient rental companies close by. Exceptional, already planning next year's return. Thank you!!

Beautiful lake cottage that is wonderfully decorated. Excellent views of the lake and sunset.

  • 5 of 5

Beds are comfortable and fans circulate lake air, allowing for restful time away from home. I was unable to get the grill to work, however the kitchen offers many utensils and cookware. The bathroom was updated and clean, with plentiful shampoos and soaps. The steps to the lake were wonderful, until our last day some construction workers removed the lowest two portions. We were still able to climb down to the lake, but I do hope they replace the steps so walking down to the lake is easier. The climb over the rock wall to the lake is doable, but may be treacherous for some. Neighbor was not home for us to ask permission to use their steps. We loved the mini beach, which sported beautiful soft rocks and sand. I would love to return for another peaceful vacation!

The Camden Cottage is a gem!

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at the Camden cottage while we were in town for swim at the Spire Institute. We couldn’t have found a more lovely place to stay. The view of the sunset each evening was phenomenal and just what we needed after a long day at the pool. Anything you needed for cooking was in place. The beds were comfortable and as the owner stated in her description the cool breezes off the lake keep the place reasonably cool in the absence of A/C. We would stay here again if our travels brought us this way. Thanks for the great memories!!!
