Spacious and accommodated, great owner
Owner was super helpful and responsive with questions. Great place for big groups and fun to explore. Also super close to the beach and ocean shores. Great location. Only surprise was the 3 minute shower rule and a few spiders. Would definitely come here again.
Great for large groups
This was an ideal location for our Girl scout troop of 14 girls and 7 moms. There is so much space in the house and on the grounds. It is certainly a little rustic but that is all part of the charm and appeal for us. Getting to the beach was a little tricky - the road is a little to busy for us to walk with children but it is such a short drive that it seems kind of silly to drive. We enjoyed the fire pit and neat log seats around the fire.
The kitchen is well equipped with lots of dishes and pots/pans etc. Could use some chopping boards.
We would definitely come back again with the troop.
Great stay at Sersum Corda!
We enjoyed a wonderful stay over NYE with a fairly large group. The retreat center had plenty of bedrooms, a large living room and kitchen upstairs, and a tv in a smaller living room downstairs. Close proximity to the ocean was a huge plus for us. We were able to walk to the beach, which only took about 10-15 minutes. Thanks, Carol!
Huge loving space with plenty of rooms. Absolutely love the yurt in the back for activities.
Stayed here for a family thanksgiving and it was great! Plenty of room. It says it can sleep 22, by if a good portion of the attendees are in relationships then you can almost double that number. The WiFi and cell service is spotty so prepare for that. I brought my Roku device and hooked it up the the TV in the media room, worked well. Plenty of cool ware available as well as seasonings. The oven is pretty small, but there is a large microwave and two gas grills. The yurt on the back is rather big and heated!! Was perfect for our morning yoga session. Plenty of board games, books and puzzles available. I would recommend bringing your own DVDs. Smaller selection available. It was located very close to the beach which was a beautiful day activity. I would recommend big groups to stay here and will probably go back myself. Carol (the owner) was timely when responding to my questions and was unbelievably informative. She was caring in her emails and seemed to really care about our experience.
Lots of space, very comfortable
We held a small company retreat at this property. It is indeed rustic: bedding is mismatched, furniture is dated, but it is very cozy and comfortable. If we wanted crisp and sterile, we would have chosen a hotel instead. This space allows you to relax and connect with others.
There are 13 bedrooms and 22 beds. The rooms range in size from tiny to spacious and they are admittedly a little funky, since the property used to be a medical facility. This was not an issue for us and we were very comfortable. Some rooms have sinks, freeing up bathroom space/time. There are a variety of rooms and locations, so the light sleepers and snorers can be separated; the claustrophobic can have large windows; the cozy-seeking can have a dark, private room.
The gem of this property is its common spaces and its variety of spaces. There is a dining room/living room area that was huge and perfect for our large group work. There is a cozy library/den area downstairs that was perfect for breakout area or can even fit a group of 18. The building is so large that people can be in different spaces physically and mentally without disturbing others. To this point, some folks stayed up late talking (loudly) while others went to bed early and the space allowed for this. The yurt is beautiful and pristine (although we did not make use of it.) The kitchen is well-outfitted. There is an upright piano.
The host was wonderful to work with. We were allowed to check in early, which we took full advantage of.
Things I would change: the oven is very small. We were feeding 18 people and our baking trays didn't fit. The property is on septic, so showers are limited to 3 minutes, which is not enough time. Most of us simply skipped showers for the weekend, with varying degrees of happiness about it. There is no cell service inside the building, which is not something that can be changed! However, as this was a work retreat (and we're a tech company) we needed to be online for some of our activities. The wi-fi only worked in the room where the router was located. We had to change our presentations that depended on a connection.
Overall, we were very happy with the property and would book it again.
Sursum Corda has been an incredible retreat space for our group. Beautiful setting, close to the beach, well supplied, individual rooms, large gathering space, clean and welcoming. The space is the perfect container for reflection and deepening relationships.
We are a short walk to the beach! Come visit on a clam tide and see Copalis Beach in action!
