Great place for our large group!

  • 5 of 5

Our PEPS group recently stayed at Sursum Corda and had the best time. The house is HUGE and had plenty of space for all the parents and kids to spread out. The kitchen easily accommodated enough food and supplies for all of us. Our kids had a great time exploring the grounds, taking on the hiking trails, making s'mores around the campfire, eating wild salmonberries, and having an EPIC dance party in the yurt. The place is completely secluded so we didn’t have to worry about bothering neighbors. The grounds are so spacious that we were able to set up swimming pools, ride bikes, play soccer, and we even blew up a giant bouncy castle on the front lawn. The beach is just a short drive down the road and was fantastic.

A few things to know:

• The bedroom doors lock from the inside and have keyed knobs on the outside (not keyed to the provided house key) so if a kid accidentally locks the door you might have to use a credit card and brute force to open it. [Ask us how we know this.]

• There seemed to be an infestation of carpenter ants in the woodpile against the house. We recommend someone come spray those before they start eating up the house!

• Wi-fi is pretty weak and cell coverage is spotty out there, but who needs a phone anyways!

• The house has about 5 crockpots, some large electric skillets, and multiple coffee makers. It was great to have so many cooking appliances to feed our hungry brood!

• The yurt, while amazing, had a bit of a musty mildew smell.

• The downstairs is an old medical facility, so some of the rooms and bathrooms have industrial medical fixtures in them. The interior rooms don’t have windows — which was actually great for napping kids. Those in-room sinks are especially useful for parents with kids still in diapers.

• The resident manager's place is on the grounds but we didn't see much of him. We lost a piece of jewelry down a sink drain and he was quick to help us retrieve it — thanks!

• There are only three showers and one of them is connected to the large room upstairs. We had to take turns but we made it work.

• For the size of the house, the oven is a little small. We used the grill to cook more at once.

• The beach is not super close so you have to drive. It’s a great beach – if the house was right on the beach, it would have been absolutely perfect.

All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and would consider coming back next year!

Nice & quiet

  • 4 of 5

We had 10 adults and 11 children and it was a wonderful place for the kids to be. Didn't have to worry about other people, very private! Plenty of space, seating, beds, etc. Older, but pretty comfortable.

Excellent workshop hosting facility

  • 5 of 5

Staff were exceptionally accommodating with food service requests. Considerate, thoughtful attention was given to participant needs, with daily check-ins.

Lodging and kitchen spaces were clean and easy to operate.

Workshop space (30' yurt) was ideally situated for quiet, deep work, as it was physically located a 2 minute walk away from the activities of the kitchen and lodging areas.

Beach access via 10 minute walk or quick drive gave attendees easily accessible options for exercise, contemplation, socializing and renewal.

Overall, a budget-friendly workshop environment with ample amenities and superior service. Highly recommend.
