About Charles H. Hutchins, M. D.

Charles H. Hutchins, M. D. - Facial Plastic Surgeon

in practice in Gastonia, NC for 38 years:

Laser Skin Care, P.L.L.C.

2 daughters; 2 grandsons (9 & 7)

Charles H. Hutchins, M. D. purchased this house in 1974

Why Charles H. Hutchins, M. D. chose Lake Norman

We bought the property in 1974, when we moved to Gastonia, and it has been our main source of recreation all these years. Our two daughters grew up with the place. As our family expanded, we found it expedient to do the major renovation and addition in 2004.

In 1987 we bought the Cozy Cottage (VRBO#484074) next door; it sleeps eight .

What makes this house unique

We enjoy the open spacious feeling, the nautical theme decor, the large screen porch, the shady decks, the private setting, and the surrounding woods and wildlife. The relatively smooth water of the cove renders it ideal for water sports and offers protection from the big waves of the main channel. Our lot with 156 frontage feet of shoreline is located in a nook that maintains our sand beach.

Great Family Fun!

  • 5 of 5

Three generations and multiple families had a wonderful time at The Hideaway! Comfortable beds, private shaded and sunny areas as well as all the amenities needed for a lovely time at the lake. Standing at the sink in the kitchen was my favorite place in the house because the view from every window from that point was beautiful! The owners were easy going and very flexible which was very much appreciated. I definitely highly recommend The Hideaway!

Beautiful lake house with an accommodating owner

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this lake house. I had my wedding in Mooresville, and my family and bridal party stayed in this house during the wedding weekend. There were so many spaces outside and around the house that made it super comfortable. The house had a lot of fun things like kayaks and paddle boards that the kids loved to play with. The owner was really nice and made the process very easy (especially compared to another house that we rented for the groomsmen nearby!). We are already talking about renting this house again because we had so much fun.

Owner's Response: We have had a number of wedding parties at The Hideaway and it has always seemed to work out well. Cozy Cottage next door is handy as an extension for large groups like this one. We hope that these nice folks will return soon.

This was a second visit for our family and we enjoyed it even more this time. We had the pleasure of meeting Owners Chuck and Cecile this time. They are wonderfully nice folks who care very much that their renters have a good experience. Thank you, Chuck and Cecile. Alan M

Stay 7/15 to 7/22

  • 3 of 5

As a grandfather I've been taking my family of 14 on vacation for 13 years. This property is in need of some upgrading at the price I paid. The kitchen pots and pans should be tossed for starters and the refrigerator replaced. For a place that list accommodations for 15 the refrigerator was too small. The glass top table was chipped and repaired in the corners and could seat 8 comfortably. On a more serious front the floating dock was a mess and the water slide framing was falling apart and facing a very small opening between the floating and the stationary dock. The owner left his sailboat tied to the dock and a mooring post. The paddle boat had a crack on one side and might be smart to have a professional evaluate it before thinking about repair. Turning to the inside and comparing it to our 2016 rental at Lake Norman, this property was cramped. The bunk bed area was small and in my opinion over developed. It was estimated at a 6x8 and in my opinion too small for 4 people. The upstairs shower did not drain. Other than the downstairs master there was no privacy.

If you are bringing children, bring you own games and entertainment, the board game should get tossed. The one positive was the kayaks and the sand beach and having my family together. The owner should take a hard look at this property and invite 14 over for a weekend and see how it goes. Also more serving utensils needed. And finally, as a previous visitor stated, the furniture was very uncomfortable. ps I would follow your cleaning crew and evalute their work, pot and pan were filthy.

Lake Norman is a beautiful lake! The house is in a very private location on a lovely wide cove.

  • 5 of 5

The house is very spacious! 3 large bedrooms with king beds and private bathrooms and a bedroom with 4 bunk beds and a bath across the hall. It was perfect for our family gathering! There is a slide that the grands loved and several kayaks. There's plenty of room on the large dock, extensive decking, and screen porch. There's 3 living areas inside. Room for everyone to eat together. The house is next to a Trump Golf community with beautiful homes. Lake Norman is huge, so it wasn't crowded. We rented a pontoon and everyone loved tubing and swimming ! It's one of the best vacations we have ever had!

Great lake house!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the proximity to the beautiful Lake Norman, beach access, dock & multiple kayaks. The house was a great size for accommodating all 10 of us. I hope to stay here again sometime.

Owner's Response: And we hope that you can return for more of that great fun. The house, decks, and cove work really well for most families and friends, and Lake Norman is hard to beat. Also, Cozy Cottage next door works well for smaller groups.
