About the property

Ideal for a couple

In the center of Thompson Springs ghost town! Quiet and peaceful. This is not for the person who loves rush hour in the big city! There is a Shell station in town and that's it! Bring groceries with you when you come. Moab and Arches National park is about a half hour drive to the south. This place is really all about freedom. If you decide to ride an ATV through Town, nobody bothers you. If you decide to ride your bicycle down old hwy 6 you might pass a car, but chances are you won't.

I love adventure and beautiful scenery, open spaces, no crowds and lots of wild life. My idea of relaxing is not waiting in line at Disney world (although it has its place)

Dave McKay purchased this mobile home in 2010

Why Dave McKay chose Utah

I bought this property because its not handy to shopping and air pollution and traffic jams and noise and confusion and stress... hundreds of miles of unfenced public property! serenity!!!!

What makes this mobile home unique

Wonderful experience, amazing property. Only very minor issues.

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at this property was amazing, and we had a fantastic time. It isn't very far from Moab (about 30-40 minutes) and is in its own RV Park isolated from the city. The other RV/Cabins are separated by a fair distance so that you cannot hear other people in the RV park, and allows you to enjoy your time alone. The staff of the RV Park are wonderful and are always willing to help. The cabin itself is very cozy, is fully stocked with cooking materials, dishes, silverware, etc. and has wonderful amenities.

The only issue we had was our Air Conditioning. The A/C is wonderful and is easy to operate and maintain, but the A/C stopped working one of the nights we were there. The reasoning for this was that it was set to a temperature that was too low (70 degrees Fahrenheit). Our cabin was 96 degrees during the day and 84 degrees at night. We contacted the staff to help resolve this, and they were willing to help but because of the design of the A/C unit, we simply had to just let the "coils defrost." We opened the windows and turned on the fans in the cabin and that helped out a lot. The A/C worked fine the next day and worked well ever since.

I would absolutely recommend this cabin to all of my friends and family that are planning to go to Moab or the surrounding area in Utah. It is well worth the money, is very cost-effective, is very cozy and has wonderful amenities with wonderful staff, and I am very thankful that I had the opportunity to experience Moab, Utah, and the surrounding area in this cabin.

Thank you so much :)

Loved the rental !

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the rental. Everything we needed was there, including meeting some nice people. Dave was very helpful in pointing out areas to see & different routes to take. We loved the day trips to Sego & Thompson Canyons . Moab area was outstanding, & a short drive away. We are already talking about a return trip.

We loved the Gecko House!! It was absolutely perfect for us and had everything we needed! The location was awesome too! It was right down the street from some amazing Indian pictographs at Sego Canyon and about 30 min from Arches National Park and Canyonlands and Dead Horse Point. All the parks were spectacular! There is also a cool little ghost town right across the street. We found out part of "Thelma and Louise" was filmed there. We would definitely come back and stay here again. And the price was very economical!

Great little place

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I stayed 2 nights for the Thelma and Louise Half Marathon in Moab. It was a great little place with everything we needed! There is a little gas station nearby if you need to grab something small, which we did, so that was helpful. Very powerful air conditioning! Loved being the first little lot at the RV park so we could sit out on the porch and watch the sunset. Thanks so much for a great stay!

Can't say enough good things about our stay. This cabin was perfect in every sense, very clean, stocked beyond expectation, very comfortable and homey. The perfect size for 1 or 2 people. Very quiet location and some great sightseeing in the immediate area. It is about 31 miles from Moab, approx. 40 min away, an easy 65 mph drive. And the nightly rate is far more affordable than any accommodation in Moab. 5 + stars
