About Kathy Nichols

My husband and I vacationed in Belize and left with more than our suitcases! We went for a golf cart ride over the bridge, ran into a puddle too deep to cross, turned around and found a condo unit for sale. We call it our 'lucky puddle' when it appears during the rainy days!

Kathy Nichols purchased this condo in 2007

Why Kathy Nichols chose Ambergris Caye

Enjoy the 2nd floor views from a spacious patio. Open the oversized patio doors and all the windows and hang on to your sheets in your master bedroom on a king memory foam bed. The 2nd bedroom has a queen memory foam bed--it has a window, but your blankets will stay put! Or just use the AC. Our condo is part of a small 12 unit complex. It is 2.5 miles north of town on a quiet area of beach. The palapa at the end of the pier is perfect for watching the day go by, catch the ferry to town, or to try catching that fish for supper.

For a second year in a row, Ambergris Caye is the ‘#1 Island in the World,2014 Travellers’ Choice Islands Award. Ambergris Caye beat out destinations such as Providenciales in Turks and Caicos, Bora Bora in the Society Islands, and even Marco Island in Florida, for the coveted title

What makes this condo unique

Comfy leather furniture and plenty of kitchen gear.

Dining table moves to end of counter to seat 6.

Laundry room in unit.

TV and wifi internet. No Phone.

2nd floor views.

Just steps to Rain--the new popular restaurant located at the top of Grand Caribe and for those of you who enjoy a short walk, more restaurants and bars within 3/4 mile or less. Or take the water taxi. golf cart, or bicycle into San Pedro for more choices. Some restaurants even pick you up at the pier if you arrange it.

Great vacation! Great condo!

  • 5 of 5

Kathy's condo was perfect for the four of us and was excellent value for money. The view from the balcony is stunning. She provided lots of useful info including a golf cart rental company with which she had negotiated a 20% discount for her renters. Everything is easily accessible by golf cart including a good selection of restaurants - and San Pedro is only 10-15 minutes away. There is a beach bar right next to the condo - great for a pre-dinner drink. On the first night, we found a wonderful outdoor restaurant just a few steps south along the beach (I think it's called Aji's). Try the paella!

The only thing missing was four wine glasses for the night we ate in - but no big deal. It still deserves a 5-star rating!

Relaxing, beautiful, accommodating. Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place to stay if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of all the downtown traffic and tourists but not so far that you can't enjoy it when you want to. The condo is perfect with all amenities and it's very peaceful. Byron and Diego are always around and are happy and willing to help any way they can. The kayaks were a huge bonus. The reef is about 3/4 mi off shore but achievable. Wind makes it a little more challenging. We didn't plan on getting a golf cart but the 2.5 mi make it necessary, esp due to heat, unless you get a taxi each time. I would, and hope to, come back!

Fabulous View! Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

We were fortunate enough to stay six weeks in Kathy's condo from mid-January thru to end of February. The condo was immaculate and welcoming upon arrival. A nice surprise was the new patio furniture Kathy purchased prior to our visit....thank you very much as we practically lived outdoors during our stay. The OceanAire condo and grounds are kept spotless thanks to Diego and Byron. Their omnipresence was always welcome whether it was a helping hand to bring a refreshed pop/beer supply up the stairs, grab some lounge cushions for us, or offer that piece of advice and information regarding local matters. They are both gems......hang onto them!

Needless to say, we really had an opportunity to find our way around and discover our favourites. Diving at SeaStar Belize just north of the bridge was fabulous (thanks Chino!), their food at the Dive Bar is second to none, and their first rate entertainment was much enjoyed. Our day trip to Hol Chan, Shark Ray Alley, and Caye Caulker was some of the best snorkeling we have ever done, so much so we did it again before we left (Thanks Josh!). Other favourites include the lobster burrito at Warugumas, anything at The Blue Water Grill, the fresh fish menu page at Elvi's, fish tacos at the Palapa Bar, pizza at the Truck Stop, Saturday night live entertainment at FIDO's, and Tuesday night Crab Races at Crazy Canucks.

Kathy was very helpful before, during, and after the trip....Thank You! After six weeks, we felt like we were leaving home.......perhaps to return another day.

Loved Kathy's Place!

  • 5 of 5

We booked the condo for the week before Christmas for a family vacation with my husband and two teenagers. We loved staying at Kathy's place. Our flights were delayed coming in and Trish with the management company was incredible to work with. We didn't know if we were going to even make it to Ambergris Caye that night. Trish stayed in touch with me - touching base on email in between airports the whole time until we go there. We arrived in Belize City after the last water taxi left and had to catch a Maya flight to the island. Trish re- routed a driver to the airport to pick us up and take us to the condo with the keys. The condo is beautiful, spacious and clean and we had room to spread out. The master bedroom is large with a huge walk in closet and lots of shelves. Our 17 year old son took the second bedroom and 14 year old daughter decided to "create a room for herself" on the large sofa in the living room. There were lots of extra blankets and pillows available to make a very comfortable bed. We made good use of the completely outfitted kitchen and cooked at least one meal most days. We enjoyed relaxing in the condo. The kids and my husband completed the jigsaw puzzle and I enjoyed a mystery novel from the library. We did find out that moving the chairs from the kitchen table to the desk in the library was very loud for the people below us. Oops! We used the beautiful pool and the grounds crew was quick to put out comfy cushions for the lounge chairs and see if there was anything we needed. The location was ideal - just north of the bridge- so we enjoyed the town area each day and the trip on the golf cart was less than 20 minutes. Once in a rush to get to an early morning snorkeling trip we made it in 12 min. We rented our cart from Monchos and their customer service was exceptional. Sergio brought the cart to us at the condo late the night we arrived. He shared a map and talked with us about golf cart use and laws, locations and ideas about places to go including directions to Secret Beach. Our cart broke down in town in an intersection (would only go in reverse). A local man quickly offered to call Monchos and he had their number in his phone. Monchos arrived in less than 10 minutes with a new cart and we were back on the road again. Ambergris Caye is beautiful and the people are the nicest we have met in our travels. We had such a good time and always felt like we had backup if needed. We highly recommend Kathy's place.

Excellent spot

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week and loved the property, excellent views from the patio, constant sea breeze and nice pool. The unit and building is very well maintained, both inside and out with comfortable furniture and well stocked kitchen. The AC stopped working in one bedroom so we alerted the property manager by email and they were over immediately to fix it. Would definitely stay here again!

Our third trip to Belize and the condo didn’t disappoint. We have rented this condo three times and it has always been exceptional. We had a terrific time and was impressed see the all the new growth and changes that have happened the last 2 years. We had some great diving and enjoyed some of the new restaurants, especially on the North end of the Island. We were sad to hear Capricorn was closed down, there food was wonderful and it was just a short walk from the condo, but we did enjoy Stella’s which is just south of the condo. They have an interesting concept, where they bring in guest chefs each night. The night we ate there the chef from Robin’s Kitchen was cooking his famous jerk chicken. We also enjoyed the Farmer’s Market that is held once a month at a new restaurant called the Truck Stop located about 1 mile north of the bridge. The Truck Stop has an ice cream shop, which makes it way too easy to get ice cream now. Once again thank you and we look forward to next year’s vacation.
