About Laura Garcia

We bought this home so our children could continue to grow up together as family. Sarah, originally from Kansas, JoAnne, originally from Kentucky, and Laura from Virginia decided to join together to give David and Annabelle their own slice of Tybee heaven. Our kids and dogs just love their Tybee getaway and we hope that you will too!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed here for 5 nights, lots of space. We had 2 children & 4 adults in our group, so having 2 baths was very nice. Everything was very clean and airy. I especially liked having all the different places to sit & read, indoors & out, however my favorite was the dock house. The neighborhood is very quiet, and it's nice to walk or bike to the Crab Shack for a bite. Furnishings were very nice, linens like you would have in your own home, kitchen was very well furnished also. We look forward to coming back soon.

Wonderful vacation home

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved staying at Bye Bye Blues. Grilling in the back yard and eating in the boat house ended up being our favorite activity during our vacation! Laura was incredibly accommodating and was a great help when we had questions about the island. The atmosphere of the house and the area made it even more special when my daughter’s boyfriend proposed to her on the beach! We will have many great memories of our stay on Tybee Island!

Great location and house.

Very comfortable, accommodated 8 people very well, easy access (6+ minutes) to several beaches. Loved the dock house, especially in the evening to eat and play games. Just down the road from the BEST restaurant on the island, The Crab Shack.

Great place for family gathering.

  • 5 of 5

Spent the week of July 4th at Bye Bye Birdie. Wonderful house with separate entrances upstairs and down. Perfect for my son and his family downstairs, and my spouse and myself and our daughter upstairs. Loved the boathouse and dock, lovely decor in the house, great location to beach and Savannah. Well-equipped kitchen and bathrooms, lots of books, puzzles, and games. Comfortable beds, and lovely views. Would love to stay there again. Highly recommend. Thanks to owners for sharing their great home!

Bye Bye Blues to the home leave rescue!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, our 2.5 year old daughter, and I stayed at this lovely home from July 8 - August 5, 2017. My husband works for the Foreign Service, and we had just finished a 2 year tour in Chennai, India. Instead of spending a month traveling around the US to visit family and friends, checking in and out of bland hotels, and inevitably sleeping on someone’s couch, we decided to book a beach house and invited our family and friends to travel to us.

This was such a great house for us! The three of us took the bedrooms upstairs, and whenever we had guests, they used the downstairs space. That allowed everyone to wake up and go to sleep on their own schedule.

My daughter and I usually woke up early, and we would go for walks in the neighborhood. We loved seeing the blue herons and egrets in the marsh, and we even spotted a dolphin while crossing a bridge over one of the creeks. The locals were very friendly, and we stopped to chat with them regularly.

We went into Savannah about once a week, either to sightsee or to pick up friends from the airport. The drive was only about 30 minutes. Savannah has this magical charm about it. My theory is that it’s all the Spanish moss. Having previously lived in Charleston, I enjoyed the fact that Savannah was less crowded and more unique/quirky.

We loved cooking big breakfasts and dinners together as a family. There is plenty of space upstairs for everyone to commune together, and the kitchen was equipped with lots of pots, pans, gadgets, and storage containers for leftovers. I loved having lunch in the dock house, which was also the perfect place to do puzzles!

Joanne met us and gave us a tour of the property when we arrived, and Laura was in regular contact with us during our stay. Laura was very helpful with any questions we had. I think the only issue we noticed was the downstairs bedroom with the 2 double beds did not have air conditioning, so it would get very warm in that room, especially if the door was closed. The ceilings downstairs were low so there were not any ceiling fans, but there was one standing fan. A couple more standing fans for the downstairs area, and some kind of a/c access for that bedroom would make the space more comfortable. I do realize that it has been a year since we stayed there, so maybe some changes have already been made.

All in all, our family had a relaxing 4 weeks in this house that really did feel like a home. We absolutely recommend it, and we hope to return again!

Very relaxing and comfortable home for families.

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful stay at Bye Bye Blues. Our three young men enjoyed having their own space in the downstairs apartment. The upstairs living area was spacious and very comfortable with high ceilings. The dock house was fantastic! It was spacious, peaceful and comfortable for all of us to have dinners and play games. Thank you to the owners for allowing us to borrow your little slice of heaven for a week, we absolutely loved it and had a very relaxing time. We hope to return again very soon.

The best thing about Bye Bye Blues is the spectacular private dock and fully furnished dock house! Perfect for bird watching, fishing, shrimping, crabbing, canoeing, paddle boarding and kayaking. Enjoy morning coffee or an afternoon cocktail on the dock and watch for great blue herons, egrets, wood storks, and osprey. Additionally, the backyard is fully fenced in. Lots of room for children and small dogs. Walk to the Crab Shack for seafood and margaritas and see some gators!
