About Steve Vollmer

We are a family of 5! We all love Cross Country running, tennis, biking, and, of course, vacations. Lisa and Steve met at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. Our girls are in High School running for O'Fallon, while our son loves tennis.

Steve Vollmer purchased this house in 2013

Why Steve Vollmer chose Missouri

We have always enjoyed Hermann's historic homes, wines, Katy Trail, and the community's German roots. Wonderfully built by a renowned Hermann craftsman, we couldn't pass ownership up on this home!

What makes this house unique

We enjoy the privacy and the DeFlorin properties' history. We are right next to the historic St. George Catholic Church, just a few blocks away from the bustle of downtown. What a great view from this hill!

My son got married in Hermann in July, 2016 and we rented this property and the Brick Cottage for our family. It worked out great and I would highly recommend either or both places. Our four grandchildren loved it and it was nice to have plenty of room. Steve was very accommodating and worked with us on our schedule. It is a great location from downtown and we look forward to going back!!!

Very Quaint!

  • 5 of 5

Had a fabulous time in Hermann. The house was perfect for a girls weekend of nine. Very well maintained, very cozy with a lot of space up an downstairs as well and a washer and drier as well. Quiet area with a nice view. My only suggestion would be to add a couple more towel racks or hooks, just not a lot of places for wet towels.

I would highly recommend anyone staying there. Hope to be back again soon myself.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

I rented this, as well as the Brick cottage, for a Bachelorette party. It was perfect that the houses were across the street from eachother. There was lots of room, and the ping pong table and basement area were perfect for the group to hang out in. We were fascinated by all the little doors in the house. Very unique design. Would highly recommend!

Great space for a girls' weekend!

  • 5 of 5

A group of girl friends and I stayed at the Bicentennial in for a bachelorette party. The location was fantastic! The home had ample bedrooms and living space. Our one regret was that we didn't find the downstairs bathroom/shower until closer to the end of our stay- oops! The house was very charming and had nice amenities such as wifi and a flat screen TV. Working with Steve was fantastic. He was very accommodating and responsive whenever we reached out to him before and during our stay. My only suggestion would be the addition of a dishwasher, as we spent a good portion of our morning on our last day hand washing wine glasses and dishes, but that could have been remedied by us bringing disposable ones. :) We would definitely consider staying here again!

Bicentennial in Hermann mo

  • 5 of 5

We love the bicentennial house we have stayed in for two years in a row. We love playing ping pong after a day of wine tastings at different wineries. Great for younger crowds who like to hang out and play music and relax. Love that it is all stocked. Has a coffee maker which we love, satellite TV which we use very little, but it's 4 bedrooms 2 baths. The upstairs bedrooms do not have a bathroom upstairs, so older people need to sleep on the main floor. Upstairs rooms are great for the kids. Lots of stairs, 3 floors, so again older ones need to sleep on the main floor. We missed having the fire pit in the back this year, so no fire outside, but they do supply to small barbecue pits, so we don't have to eat out all the time. The trolley will pick you up from the house and take you to all the wineries, so you don't have to drink and drive. Only like $15 a person for the trolley for the whole day. Good place.

Kitchen sadly lacking

  • 2 of 5

The house is nice, comfortable once we were able to figure out the thermostat. However, the kitchen is sadly lacking - there is only 1 pot, and the only skillet is a 6 inch one. There were only 3 forks - for a house that sleeps 8. No ice cube trays in the freezer. No cutting boards that we could find.

Stay here only if you plan on eating all your meals away, or bring your own pots/pans/knives/silverware.

It is very close to downtown - you can walk to the main street - which is very convenient. It's clean and well kept.

Owner's Response: Well that darn kitchen!!! We looked and found that some of our kitchen items 'walked away' that month to one of our other 2 vacation homes next door (large wedding groups). We redistributed all kitchen items and just bought additional silverware, cooking utensils, pots/pans, and bakeware. The thermostat is a honeywell touch screen sold in all the major retail stores. Our home manager is nearby, and we would have loved to receive a quick call or text (home instructions with phone number are sent to the principal renting party the Tuesday before and are posted in the home as well). We could have made your stay much more enjoyable by fixing these items immediately! Darn. We, of course, always strive to receive a 5 rating from our staying guests. Thank you again for your stay! Steve
