Living like a Carioca in Ipanema
Ipanema vacation rentals are your ticket to one of Rio's most happening beach quarters. You can spend whole holidays kicking soccer balls and playing volleyball with the tanned Cariocas who are regulars of the Zona Sul. You can rent out boards and hit the frothing Atlantic beach breaks with the wave riders. Or, you can hop between the feijoada joints and bossa nova houses on the oceanside avenue, learning how to craft spicy Latin fare or listening to the bumping jazz that's still the backing track of the beach.
A warming jaunt to Ipanema
Eager to escape the chillier months of North America? Pining for some sun around Christmas? Need a bout of tropical warmth to get you through the winter? Ipanema vacation rentals could just be the perfect thing. This sun-splashed, seaside neighborhood on the edge of Rio's salt-washed Zona Sul is at its best between December and March. That's when the tanned bodies hit the beach for sunbathing, while February brings on the wild nights and jazz blowouts of the Rio Carnival.
Salt wash and soaring peaks in Ipanema
Ipanema's little cut out of the Rio coast is nothing short of breathtaking. The twin-topped mountains of the Morro Dois Irmaos _ the Two Brothers _ crash over the sands to the west, creating a striking topography and offering soaring lookouts with some of the best sunrise and sunset viewing in the metropolis. Down below, the strip runs from Leblon to the end of Copacabana Beach, washed by roaring surf at some points and dotted with soft sunbathing sections at others. Nearby, the Tijuca Forest also beckons, a land of tabletop mountains and misty tropical groves.
