Built on a hill, this stone town house is right outside the old city walls (dating from the 2nd century B.C.) of Historical Centre of Cortona, an old city founded by The Etruscans, the ancient civilization that built Rome. Cortona is conveniently located in a 1,15 hrs drive from Florence, 2 hrs from Rome and Pisa International Airports, 30 mins from Perugia (in Umbria) and Arezzo, 45 mins from Siena, 35 mins from Montepulciano, 1hr from Assisi (Umbria) e Montalcino (where the famous 'Brunello' wine comes from)...all the best sights of the famous Tuscan countryside, with yellow sunflower fields in the summer and multi colored trees in the spring!
Cortona is famous as the inspiration and setting for the book Under the Tuscan Sun, (that later became a movie) written by USA writer-novelist Francis Mayes. It also homes a branch of the Georgia University - USA, for artistic matters, since 1970.

About Mirko Tessandori
I'm a musician traveling the world, living between the US and Italy and I manage my family properties from wherever I am. I cherish the friendship we get to establish with our guests, that then become our friends and come back to stay with us! :-)
Mirko Tessandori purchased this House in 1948
Why Mirko Tessandori chose Camucia
This was my great grand father warehouse, where he and his son (my grandfather) used to keep the wood for their work. They both were carpenters and made some of the furnitures in the apartment. It has a great view of the valley and it sleeps up to 6 people, so it's very convenient for families or friends and it's only 6 mins walk from the center Piazza della Repubblica!

Casa di Pietra was a charming stone house with all the amenities of home!
We had a wonderful 3-week stay at Casa di Pietra in Cortona, Tuscany! Our hostess was lovely and extremely attentive! We took a fun and very informative cooking class with her which produced such a delectable feast that was savored for a couple of days following the initial meal (leftovers are as good as 'originals')! My husband and I toured so many of the hill towns (awesome) and even made it to Florence and Venice! The location was ideal for a 'homebase' and always so wonderful to return to after our many adventures! Leaving was difficult.....we must return!
True gem of Tuscany!!!
We had to most wonderful time in Cortona. It is a magical place and we can't wait to return!!!
Vanna, our host, is amazing! If you come to Cortona you have to take her cooking class. It was the highlight of our trip. Thank you Vanna!!!
Booking our trip with Mirko was a breeze. He is so responsive and answers all your questions. Thank you Mirko!

the best town in Italy, the best view, the best host
This is our second trip to Cortona and we have stayed at Casa di Pietra both times. It's immaculately clean, well equipped and has comfortable beds.
The host, Vanna, will enhance your stay with her warmth & kind spirit. You'd be remiss not to take her cooking lesson, as it's a unique opportunity to see her cook local dishes & dine w views of the beautiful Val de Chiana.
Quaint, quiet and comfortable
This accommodation was absolutely lovely in the wonderful village of Cortona. Spacious and well equipped, with very accommodating and lovely hosts.
We loved our home away from home! It was so cute, clean and just as promised. Do not miss the cooking class with Vanna. It was delightful, the food was fabulous and Vanna treated us like family. Cortona was wonderful! We visited 6 other Tuscany towns and we liked Cortona the best. Don't miss the fortress at the very top of the town or the museum in the center of town. The restaurants were fabulous. It was a delightful week from start to finish!
My wife and I stayed in the apartment for 5 days. A beautiful apartment in a fantastic location for both Cortona and exploring other communities in Tuscany. The host was very nice and helpful for both check in and throughout the stay. I would strongly recommend the apartment.
