Best view of Hill City

  • 4 of 5

Awesome property, beautiful house, best view of Hill City. We stayed at Iron Horse Lookout while in town for the Crazy Horse Marathon. House is on a ridge walking distance from downtown and overlooks the Hills with direct view of the Marathon finish line. I will definitely rent this house again when returning to the area. 4 out of 5 stars only because of 2 things that could be improved. The heating thermostats are not calibrated. There were individual "zoned" thermostats that we either left off or set to 70. Some rooms heated well beyond 80! Second, the master bedroom mattress was a bit hard for our liking and drastically transferred motion to the other person in bed anytime you moved causing the other to awaken. I recommend a good foam style mattress which can be found for less than most inner-spring style mattresses.

Pros: Excellent and convenient location, beautiful view of the hills and Hill City, great decks with grill and adequate patio furniture, nice full kitchen with great appliances, overall very clean, use of garage with openers, huge family room downstairs, internet, cable TV.

Cons: Master Bedroom mattress to hard and too high off floor, heating thermostats need calibration, could have a few more pots & pans for cooking.

Overall was one of the best VRBO properties we have stayed at. Will definitely try to rent this home again when returning to the Hill City area. Loved it!

Great location and a very relaxing property

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Iron Horse Lookout. Location is prime - just far enough away from the main street of Hill City to have privacy - and excellent views. We very much enjoyed eating out on the deck at nights. And certainly close enough to just take a quick walk down the hill to enjoy the main street activities. Place was very clean and extremely spacious.

Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion of this rental. Our housekeeper works hard to keep the owner's home clean for each guest and I will be sure to let her know your thanks. Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write this review. The owners take great pride in furnishing the home with quality and style. As managers, we are commited to making sure everything is kept clean and neat for each guest. The Alpine Inn is certainly a wonderful place to eat. There are other restaurants now open as of May 1st on Main street as well. Visitiors also enjoy Bumpin Buffalo and Desperados and several other cafes in Hill City.

We loved the house and the location. It was comfortable, well equipped and spacious. The balcony made for lovely meals in the evenings. The location also provided a location for walking and biking on the Mickelson Trail. We would highly recommend this home and would definitely stay here again.
