This 3 bedroom, 2 bath home was built in 2008. it is located on Prospector Mountain on a ridge overlooking Main Street Hill City and the Black Hills Central Railroad (1880 Tourist Train). Enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and nearby Harney Range. Paved roads lead all the way to this home with a double garage. It is just a stroll down the hill to “Major Lake” for fishing, or to access the Mickelson Hiking/Biking Trail and Hill City’s Main Street.

On the main floor: Master bathroom with king size bed and an adjoining bathroom with tub & shower. Fully furnished kitchen with side by side refrigerator and plenty of cabinets and walk-in storage for your supplies. Kitchen/dining with seating for 6 at the table and 4 at the kitchen counter. Living room with queen sleeper sofa, love seat, TV and gas log stove. The upper wrap-around deck has a table, deck chairs and gas grill.

Included on the lower level with walk out to the patio: Large 26X20 family room with sofa, recliner, oversize chair with ottoman, flat screen TV and a round bar height table with chairs…perfect for playing cards or a laptop spot. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms both with a queen bed are also on this level as well as the 2nd bathroom with tub & shower. The laundry room has a washer and dryer. The walk out patio has additional outdoor seating.

Other amenities: Central air conditioning, cable TV, and wireless internet access.

Terms: iron horse and sluice run:

Iron horse: the invention of coal and steam powered locomotives replaced horse drawn wagons to expedite the transport of goods across the plains. They were dubbed “iron horses”.

Sluice run: during the black hills gold rush of the 1870’s miners ored the gold and washed it down gullies by the way of a water channel controlled by a gate called a sluice.

Great location and a very relaxing property

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Iron Horse Lookout. Location is prime - just far enough away from the main street of Hill City to have privacy - and excellent views. We very much enjoyed eating out on the deck at nights. And certainly close enough to just take a quick walk down the hill to enjoy the main street activities. Place was very clean and extremely spacious.

Excellent for a Family

If you are looking for a spacious, clean and convenient vacation home with beautiful views and all the amenities of home, this is your place. Check in is simple as is the booking process. The house was super clean and comfortable! We all really enjoyed our stay. Marcia and the staff were so nice and helpful. Would highly recommend this place! Centrally located to most major attractions. Be sure to eat at the Alpine Inn down the street from the house.

As managers, we are commited to making sure everything is kept clean and neat for each guest. The Alpine Inn is certainly a wonderful place to eat. There are other restaurants now open as of May 1st on Main street as well. Visitiors also enjoy Bumpin Buffalo and Desperados and several other cafes in Hill City.

Fantastic

We loved the house and the location. It was comfortable, well equipped and spacious. The balcony made for lovely meals in the evenings. The location also provided a location for walking and biking on the Mickelson Trail. We would highly recommend this home and would definitely stay here again.

Great space, great location

We loved this house. Everything was super clean and new. I was so happy that it had wifi too as I was able to work in the mornings and get travel tips online before we set off. It was very spacious with a beautiful view of Hill City with balconies on both floors. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed the house. The location for the area was perfect as well with a grocery store right down the hill

We accept Visa MasterCard or Discover however, we offer to waive the additional 3% reservation processing fee if all payments are made with personal check, cashier's check, cash. You must cancel 3 months prior to your arrival date to receive a refund of your deposit (minus a $50 cancel fee) otherwise nonrefundable.
