Enjoy a holiday near the Zeeland beaches and dunes!

Within walking distance of the dunes, the beach, and a vast nature reserve, you will find Het Kusthuis. Located close to the charming center of Burgh-Haamstede and just around the corner from the cozy terrace square of Westenschouwen. Nestled in an oasis of tranquility, this spacious and characteristic Zeeland house with its glazed tile roof stands in the middle of an orchard. Originally the residence of the orchard’s owner, it has now been transformed into a delightful holiday home. A true family retreat equipped with all comforts to ensure you have an unforgettable stay.

Het Kusthuis was fully renovated and tastefully decorated in the first quarter of 2021. In the spring of 2025, the large downstairs bathroom was completely renewed, and beds on the upper floor were replaced.

The spacious living room features a large six-seater sofa and a cozy fireplace. The brand-new kitchen with a cooking island is equipped with all modern appliances for your convenience. On the ground floor, you will also find the master bedroom and a large bathroom with a shower and toilet. The first floor consists of three tastefully decorated bedrooms and a modern bathroom. Additionally, there is a separate toilet on this floor. Het Kusthuis overlooks the apple orchard and features a spacious, south-facing terrace. Here you can fully relax in privacy on one of the six Hartman garden chairs with comfortable cushions.

The house is located in Buitenplaats Schouwen, where you may often spot deer. This child-friendly family park offers peace, space, and plenty of facilities for a relaxing holiday. Near Het Kusthuis, there is a small playground with a sandbox. The park also features an outdoor swimming pool with a separate toddler pool, a tennis court, a large playground, a hockey field, a volleyball court, table tennis tables, and a pétanque court.

Our first experience of Zeeland

Read the instructions on parking in the BHVK envelope BEFORE you set off from their office, otherwise you might well end up in the wrong car park. Ignore the signs at the car park entrances. This will save you a lot of angst. There are luggage trolleys available in a shelter nearby. The back door key would only turn in the lock if the door was pulled hard towards you. The house was lovely, with all mod cons, though a little cramped upstairs for two adults and two children. The setting in an old orchard was lovely too, very quiet when we visited in June, and warm enough to sit outside on the patio. It was handy for a children’s play area and only a short walk from the unheated swimming pool and tennis court etc. The surrounding area was stunning, with beautiful scenery and beaches, fantastic footpaths and cycle paths that we can only dream of in the UK. The site wardens at No 5 spoke good English and were very helpful. You can hire bikes there at about half the going rate that is charged in Burgh-Haamstede itself (No 5 is also the source of the wristbands required for the swimming pool). There was a comprehensive instruction manual for the domestic appliances in the house, in Dutch and German only, so we resorted to using Google Lens to translate into English. Altogether a memorable and enjoyable week.

Wir als 8 Erwachsene einer Familie hatten eine gute Zeit miteinander. Besonders der schöne Essbereich und die sehr gut ausgestattete Küche hat uns den Aufenthalt sehr angenehm gemacht, weil wir gemeinsam gekocht haben.Die großzügige Terrasse haben wir nicht genutzt zum Essen wegen Regenschauern, der Holztisch lud dazu auch nicht so ein. Die Liegestühle waren im Windschatten mit Sonne herrlich. Die Jugend genoß die Sportanlagen.Das Haus ist altersensprechend hellhörig, was uns nicht gestört hat. Wir hatten keinen Schlüssel für den Fahrradschuppen erhalten. Ruhige Lage und Anlage.

Fotos im Angebot und Realität klaffen leider auseinander

Das Haus wird für 8 Personen angeboten. Wir waren 7 Personen.Im Außenbereich gab es nur 2 Sonnenliegen (wer zuerst kommt, malt zuerst ;-) Das Ferienhaus war nach unserem Empfinden nicht gründlich gereinigt! Hinter den Betten, Sofa und anderen Ecken mussten wir erst eine Lage Staub entfernen ( kann mit Fotos belegt werden) Der Staubsauger hat beim Saugen gestunken, denn der Beutel war übervoll. Die Sockelleisten zur Terasse lagen lose am Boden. Der Duschschlauch im unteren Bad war eine Katastrophe. Wasser spritze überall aus dem Duschschlauch heraus. Die Schlafbereiche bieten kaum Staumöglickeiten für die Kleidung. In einem Zimmer gab es noch nicht einmal einen Regalboden. In der Küche waren die Schubladen, das Besteck und das Geschirr schmutzig. Von der Sauberkeit des Kühlschrankes und Backofens ganz abzusehen .. die Rückwand des Kühlschrankes war total vereist. Der allgemeine Zustand des Hauses ist traurig anzusehen . Teilweise sind die Wände im Haus vergilbt, fleckig und Farbe blättert ab. Auch die Spinnweben wurden, vor der Übergabe an uns, bei der Reinigung nicht enternt. Die Pauschale für die Endreinigung empfanden wir, aufgrund der genannten Mängel, nicht angemessen, sondern wirklich überteuert. Wir haben das Haus sauberer verlassen als wir es vorgefunden haben. Normalerweise hätten wir hierfür entlohnt werden sollen. Auch die hohe Miete steht in keinem Verhältnis zum Allgemeinzustand den wir vorgefunden haben. Unser Trostpflaster war das sonnige Wetter + der Rest :-)

Lage (ruhiger Park) und Innenausstattung gut. Untere Etage gemütlich und geräumig. Die oberen Zimmer sind sehr klein und nicht gut isoliert bei Hitze. Die Sauberkeit im Aussenbereich lässt stark zu wünschen übrig .

Supermooie woning met alles erop en eraan. Wij waren met 7 volwassen personen en hadden alle ruimte, liepen elkaar niet in de weg. Echt fijne plek voor een weekend weg.
