The romantic, historic 18th-century shepherd’s house on the Willershausen estate has been renovated in accordance with historic preservation guidelines and furnished in a stylish, rustic manner. It features 140 m² of living space spread over two floors. The fireplace in the “Große Stube” creates a cozy atmosphere. The fully equipped kitchen also offers space for comfortable seating. The spacious entryway and staircase are designed to be inviting and cozy. Upstairs, you’ll find three bedrooms, each comfortably furnished for two people, and a bathroom.

In June 2020, the Schäferhaus underwent extensive renovation and expansion. We are now pleased to offer you an additional small bathhouse as well as a large terrace with a magnificent panoramic view. The historic Schafmeisterhaus—or, as we call it, the Schäferhaus—is surrounded by a pretty garden and sits on the property’s approximately 5,000 m² meadow on a hill above the village. A truly beautiful view!! Parking for several cars is available in front of the house.

The little garden entices with berry bushes, complemented by boxwood and hydrangea plantings. Of course, you’ll find the Schäferhaus prepared for your stay with crisply ironed bed linens and cotton towels. A grill and garden furniture are standard. We’re happy to recommend nearby rural inns. As a guest of Gut Willershausen, you’re always warmly welcome.
Plenty of space for children to play, pick flowers, and for dogs!

If you’re a larger group, we recommend booking our Hirschgarten Chalet as well, which accommodates an additional 6–9 people. Or, for 1–2 people, our Jäger Apartment, located right inside the moated castle. (Please note: This cannot be booked through Fewo. Available by request only!) You can host celebrations in the alpine hut next door. Everything is just a few steps away from each other.

The Schäferhaus is located directly on the Green Belt in the Werra Valley of the Thuringian Forest, near Eisenach and Wartburg Castle.
