Steps to Oneida Lake, Water Access - Thistle Dew Cottage

Enjoy direct access to Oneida Lake with water views from the cottage! Just steps across the road, take in stunning sunsets, kayak, or swim. Verona Beach State Park is a 3-minute walk with a sandy beach, lakeside path, trails, and a splash pad. Back home, unwind in a private wooded setting—perfect for relaxing on the patio or around the bonfire under the stars.

Relax in a beautiful lake cottage JUST renovated in Spring 2026! As you walk in the front door, there is a beautiful new sitting area to the right that faces the lake. To the left, there is a sitting area with a couch, leather recliner and Roku TV. From both sides you can relax and enjoy the water views and gorgeous sunsets.

Walking further in, to the right is a fully stocked kitchen with brand new appliances (fridge, microwave and electric oven). Behind the kitchen is a small laundry room with a new clothes washer, dryer and storage cabinet.

Directly to the left is a long kitchen table and behind that is a short hall that leads to the brand new bathroom, master and second bedroom. The bathroom has a brand new shower with glass doors and white vanity with granite counter top. The master has arched ceilings, a queen bed, a new memory foam matterss, and lamps on both sides that have USB's to charge your phone. The second bedroom has new bunk beds which include a new queen memory foam on the bottom and twin on top. **NOTE: the top bunk is for kids 100 pounds or less. (If your 5th person is an adult, we can make up the bench with fresh bedding in the family room to the right. PLEASE LET US KNOW IN ADVANCE OF YOUR RESERVATION so we can have it ready.) A pack and play and high chair is also *potentially* available at no additional charge. Please request in advance to see if we have it available.

Looking out the rear windows, you can see the private back yard that backs up to the woods. Just behind the cottage is a patio with a wrought iron furniture set, a hammock, grill and bonfire pit, along with a corn hole game. Further back, is a covered awning to sit under should it rain or the sun be intense. To the right is a fence that has solar lights that light up at night. The driveway has a carport that 1 car can fit under. There is off street parking for 2 vehicles back to back. If your party has more than 2 vehicles, we have a lot down the street that you can park at. Just let us know.

Across the street, there is direct access to the lake. There is a small path (a little rocky), where you can launch a canoe or kayak, or access for swimming. Folks love to watch the amazing sunsets there too! Please be respectful of the neighbors’ private yards on both sides. The house allows for direct access to the water; there isn’t really room to set chairs out as it drops down slightly. Our place is perfect for folks to bring their bicycles. Our street is flat, and folks love to ride throughout the park or to Sylvan Beach. Those biking the Erie Canal also love to stay with us.

Verona Beach State Park is a 2 minute walk away. Just go out the driveway to the left and walk to the fence. There is an open spot for locals to walk through. They have a waterside walking path, snack bar in season, splash pad for the kids, 2 playgrounds and many hiking trails.

The Sylvan Beach resort area is a 20 min walk or 3 minute drive away. They have another waterside walking path, the canal for fishing and watching boats, restaurants, a casino, an amusement park and a playground. The Cove in town offers boat rentals.

During the fall, folks enjoy the hiking trails at Verona Beach State Park, as well as apple and pumpkin picking locally. During the winter, Oneida lake is a hot spot for ice fishing and snow mobiling.

Should your group be larger than what the cottage can accommodate, we have 2 other rentals within very close walking distance - a 4 bedroom waterfront that sleeps 9 and another cottage that sleeps 5. Please ask us if there is interest.
