Overall, we had a very enjoyable five-night stay and would consider staying here again. The interior was clean, well-stocked, and exactly as described. Towels, soaps, kitchen essentials, and other amenities met our expectations. The property is in a quiet, well-maintained gated community, and we especially enjoyed the pool and spa.Our biggest challenge came at check-in. The arrival information included the gate and door codes but did not identify our unit. After multiple phone calls, texts, and VRBO messages, we finally reached someone and were given the unit number. Unfortunately, no apology was offered, making for a stressful start after a long drive. The only other issue was the exterior. Doors, windows, the patio, and balcony were covered with cobwebs, making it difficult to open windows for ventilation (there is no A/C) or enjoy the outdoor space. I understand spiders are part of the mountain environment, especially in summer. However, this unit had far more web buildup than neighboring units, suggesting the exterior had not been cleaned before our arrival. I cleared enough webs to open the doors and windows but wasn’t about to spend my vacation cleaning the patio and furniture, so we never got to enjoy the balcony.Overall, we really enjoyed our time in Big Bear. With improved arrival communication and better attention to the exterior, this would easily be a five-star stay.
