About the host
Hosted by Melissa Stoller
Hacienda Coco is especially meaningful to us because it was the home of Audrey's mother, Odete, affectionately known as "Coco." Born in Brazil, Coco was a remarkable artist who spent decades creating exquisite one-of-a-kind bisque dolls, each sculpted, painted, and dressed entirely by hand. She was also a painter, sculptor and printmaker. Her curiosity, creativity, and adventurous spirit still linger throughout the house in the art, collections, and small details you'll discover during your stay. We're a photographer/filmmaker and a scientist who divide our time between Montana and Santa Fe. We fell in love with northern New Mexico for the same reasons so many visitors do: the extraordinary light, rich cultural traditions, incredible food, and easy access to the outdoors. We hope you'll enjoy Santa Fe the way we do: wandering the various districts and galleries, hiking the Dale Ball trails, mountain biking through the piñon forests, kayaking nearby rivers, lingering over a memorable meal or coffee, and slowing down enough to appreciate the extraordinary area that has inspired generations of artists. We think the finest luxury isn't excess. It's staying somewhere with a genuine sense of place and a story worth becoming part of. We hope Hacienda Coco feels like exactly that.
Why they chose this property
Our Barranca Road home offers the best of Santa Fe. In less than ten minutes, you can be exploring the Plaza, dining in Tesuque, or enjoying an evening performance at the world-renowned Santa Fe Opera. Yet at the end of the day, you return to a quiet residential neighborhood where you can hear the birds in the morning and experience a slower pace of life. It's close to everything that makes Santa Fe special without feeling like you're in the middle of it all.
What makes this property unique
Hacienda Coco is a thoughtfully restored Santa Fe home that blends authentic character with modern comfort. Original artwork, pottery, and carefully collected objects throughout the house reflect a lifetime of creativity, giving the space a warmth and personality that feels distinctly different from a typical vacation rental. At the same time, you'll find all the conveniences of a contemporary stay, including high-speed Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen with a traditional banco for gathering over coffee or meals, beautifully updated bathrooms, comfortable beds with quality linens, and a Nespresso machine to start your mornings. Outside, the private walled courtyard, fountain, and fire pit create a peaceful place to unwind after a day exploring Santa Fe. It's a home designed not only for visiting Santa Fe, but for truly settling into it.
