About this property
Unobstructed Lake Erie Views — Sunrise from the Covered Front Porch
Unobstructed Lake Erie views from the covered front porch — open lawn, open water, and the sun coming up across it. Three bedrooms, two full baths, sleeps 6, in the gated Waterview at Bay Point community with a shared pool, sauna, and year-round fitness center.
THE PORCH The front porch is the reason to book this house. The view runs unbroken across an open lawn to Lake Erie — no rooftops, no parking lot, nothing between you and the water but grass and a line of old shade trees standing well above the sightline. Get up early once and you'll do it every morning after: the sun comes up through those trees and lays a gold stripe on the lake that runs all the way to the horizon. Cedar Point sits about three miles off across the bay, and the boat traffic never really stops in summer.
The lawn in front is community common ground — room for kids to run, a game of catch, or a chair in the shade with the water right there.
THE HOUSE Three bedrooms and two full baths on one level, about 1,400 square feet. The king bedroom has its own bath with an oversized rain-head shower; the second bath has a tub/shower combo. The kitchen is fully equipped with full-size stainless appliances, island seating, a Keurig station, and everything you need to cook a real meal rather than eat out for a week. Washer and dryer in the unit. Central air and heat. 55-inch smart TV. Fast WiFi. A Weber gas grill is in the garage for your use.
SLEEPING — SLEEPS 6 · Bedroom 1: King, en suite · Bedroom 2: Queen · Bedroom 3: Two twin beds · No sofa bed or pull-out — six beds, six sleepers. Maximum occupancy is 6 including children.
Self check-in by keypad — your door code and the community gate PIN arrive before you do. No key handoff, no waiting.
WATERVIEW AMENITIES — SHARED WITH THE NEIGHBORHOOD Your stay includes access to everything at Waterview. These are community amenities shared with the ~120 homes here, not private to the house: · Outdoor pool with gas grills — Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, 10 AM–8 PM · Basketball and pickleball court at the north end of Cardinal, a short walk from the house — bring your own gear · Fitness center with Peloton, elliptical, and treadmill — open year-round, 5 AM–10 PM · Sauna — open year-round, 5 AM–10 PM · Clubhouse — 5 AM–10 PM · Fishing pad on the Lake Erie channel that runs into Bay Point Marina — bring your own gear · Gated entry by PIN; a clubhouse key card is waiting on the kitchen island
BAY POINT RESORT — NEXT DOOR, SEPARATE, AND OPTIONAL The beach you can see from the porch belongs to Bay Point Resort, the private resort next door. It is a separate property from Waterview and is not part of your stay — the community gate code and clubhouse key card will not get you in.
If you want it, resort access is available for stays between Memorial Day and Labor Day — a flat $350 per stay, arranged through us before you arrive. That is the resort's fee, not ours; we pay it to them on your behalf and pass it through at cost. It covers your whole party for the length of your stay — same price for two nights or seven, two people or six.
What it gets you: wristbands for gate access and purchasing at the resort — the private sandy beach, The Shores Club, Murphy's Sandbar & Grill, Charlie's Channel Tiki Bar, the market, outdoor bars, and live entertainment. The resort's own pool is not included.
How it works: the resort's short renter forms come with your booking confirmation. Return them with your signed rental agreement, and ten days before check-in we add a $350 payment request to your reservation. Once it's paid we submit your forms to the resort, and your wristbands are waiting at the resort office when you arrive. Once submitted, the resort does not refund it.
Worth knowing before you plan around it: the person signing must be 21 or older, wristbands are for your party only (no visitors), and no pets of any kind at the resort. Boat dockage is separate — $4 per foot per night, arranged with the marina directly.
Skipping it is completely fine. Waterview's own pool, clubhouse, sauna, fitness center, sport court, and fishing pad are all included with the house.
ARRIVING BY BOAT Bay Point Marina sits a short walk from the front door — one of the largest marinas on Lake Erie, with about 890 slips and floating docks taking boats up to 50 feet. Transient dockage is limited and, for our guests, is requested through us with your Bay Point registration — ask as early as you can. From the dock, Cedar Point is under 10 minutes by water and the Lake Erie Islands about 20. Gas dock, pump-out, shore power and water at the docks, and a waterfront restaurant on site.
THE LAKE, SEASON BY SEASON The western basin of Lake Erie is one of the world's premier walleye and perch fisheries. Charters depart from nearby marinas most of the year, and when the basin freezes, ice anglers come from across the country to work the same water.
This stretch of shoreline is a globally recognized stop on one of North America's great migratory flyways. Each spring, birders travel here from around the world for the songbird migration — the warbler push through the Lake Erie marshes is a bucket-list event on the birding calendar.
In fall the Marblehead Peninsula turns and the view from the porch reaches its best. In winter the sauna and fitness center stay open and the lake goes quiet. Most rentals here only have a summer story. This one works in all four seasons.
A NEIGHBORHOOD FIRST Waterview is a residential neighborhood first and a vacation spot second. It's a new community, and the people here chose it for the quiet: kids ride bikes to the pool, neighbors know each other by name, and the evenings are still enough to hear the water.
That's the reason to come, and it's what we ask you to help protect. Treat the pool, the clubhouse, and the grounds the way the people who live here do — take your trash with you when you leave the pool, park only in your two assigned spaces, and keep the volume down after ten. The community's rules are short, and we send them with your booking confirmation so there are no surprises.
If you're planning a bachelor party or a big weekend with a crowd, Put-in-Bay is fifteen minutes away by ferry and does it far better. This place is for the mornings you don't set an alarm — unless it's to catch the sunrise.

Check-out instructions
The host requires you complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks, and take out the trash
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Leave the clubhouse key card on the kitchen island — not at the office. It's the only card for the house, and it's an easy one to pack by accident.
All trash goes fully inside a community dumpster at the end of any garage bank, cardboard flattened. If one is full, just use the next one along.
Close the windows and return the grill to the garage if you used it. Leave the towels and bedding — our cleaner has it. If something broke, just tell us. We'd much rather hear it from you.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Two vehicles in the drive; all others in the gravel lot across E Bayshore Rd. No exceptions — strictly enforced, especially holiday weekends.
All trash fully inside a community dumpster, cardboard flattened. Waterview charges $300 for trash left outside, and we pass it on to you.
Quiet hours 10 PM–8 AM. Residential neighborhood, sound carries. Leave the clubhouse key card on the island at checkout — $150 if not returned.

About the host
Hosted by Brett Smith
We love Marblehead and sharing lake life with our guests. The front porch here is our favorite spot on the peninsula — coffee at sunrise, boats going by all afternoon. We hope you enjoy the home and all the relaxation the Lake Erie shore brings. We especially love hosting families.
Why they chose this property
Waterview is laid back and family friendly — a newer gated community of about 120 homes where kids ride bikes to the pool and the evenings are quiet enough to hear the water. What sold us was the open lawn between the house and the lake: nothing between the porch and the water but grass and old shade trees. The pool, clubhouse, sauna, and fitness center are all a short walk away.
What makes this property unique
The view. The front porch looks across an open lawn straight to Lake Erie — no rooftops, no parking lot, nothing in the way. The sun comes up over the water, and the boats run by all day. That lawn is community common ground, which is why it stays open.
Inside it is three bedrooms and two full baths on one level, with a kitchen set up to actually cook in. A short walk away at the Waterview clubhouse, guests have the pool, sauna, and fitness center.
Bay Point Resort next door — the beach, restaurant, tiki bar, and marina — is a separate property and isn't part of the house. For summer stays, resort access is a flat $350 for your whole stay, arranged through us before you arrive. Plenty of our guests skip it and never leave the porch.
