Build in the early 1950s, this cottage has been upgraded and decorated to create the best of old and new: painted wood floors, antique furnishings and a self-sufficient kitchen. The cottage has two bedrooms - one queen and one double - and a spacious living room with a foldout sofa.
The back deck is the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks while you prepare dinner on the BBQ or you can move to the front deck and take in the majestic beauty of Ketch Harbour.
The cottage sits on a beautiful lot with mature trees, wild flowers and old rock walls.
We love this cottage and Ketch Harbour and have been coming for years. Tracy has updated this cottage and you couldn't ask for more. She has thought of everything that you might possibly need, just bring your clothes! We immediately booked for next year as well! Comfortable, quiet, close to Halifax, beaches and trails. I almost didn't write a review because I selfishly want to keep it available for myself :) Book it, you won't regret it (and I'm pretty demanding of my vacation spots!).
Our stay in Ketch Harbor here was terrific. What a quaint comfortable and well equipped cottage. Pretty well anything you could think of(and) that you might require is there. Great views, two decks and a short distance to Crystal Crescent Beach, or Halifax in the other direction.
It's one of the best vacation decisions I have ever made. Renting Tracy's cottage was Fantastic in every aspect. The cottage is comfortable, very clean and cozy. You breathed a big sigh of relief coming back to it each afternoon after a busy day of sightseeing or hiking, or just lying on the beach. The owner has thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Thoughtful and welcoming...what more could you want?
I would highly recommend renting this cottage to anyone looking for a non-stop picturesque view of the Harbour with great hospitality and no hustle and bustle of city/hotel type of accommodation. Beach nearby, walking trails nearby, city of Halifax nearby...great hostess! Tracy made this vacation very special for my entire family.
This last summer was our fourth time staying at Ketch Habor and that alone should say everything. A vacation is about taking a break and not having to worry about the small things and Tracy (the owner of the cedar cottage) makes sure that this is possible, there is nothing too big or too small that she wont take the time to get right. The cottage is small an unpretentious and is just right for our family of four, it is immaculately clean and well taken care of as well as being under 10 mins (by car) from one of the best beaches in Canada. I highly recommend taking the time to get to know this wonderful part of Canada and the cedar cottage is the perfect place to do so.
It was so nice looking out at the harbour and occasionally seeing, off in the distance, ships going by. Renting the cabin was great because once we were settled in we had a place to make our own meals and sit out on the deck sipping on drinks. The quality of the dishes and cooking utensils was awesome. It was very comfy and when returning from a day of touring it was like coming home. Nice windows to open after warm day to let the ocean breeze cool the house. Lots of natural lighting and a private setting. Plenty of room for two couples.
This cottage is very quaint and welcoming. The cottage property is beautiful and the community of Ketch Harbor is picturesque and people are very friendly. The owner of this property is very nice and extremely accommodating. My wife and two young children had a fabulous and relaxing stay. The beach is very close to the cottage and it is a quick drive to the city. We will be back!

The cottage is only available by the week (Sunday to Sunday) in July, August and September. Outside of the high season nightly arragements can be made. A minimum booking of three nights would be required.
Check-out time is 10:30 a.m. and check-in time is 3:00 p.m. unless otherwise arranged with the property manager.
At the time of booking, a rental agreement must be signed and returned with a deposit of 50% of the total cost. Both items are required to confirm the reservation.
The balance, along with a $200 damage deposit, is due 30 days prior to arrival unless other arrangements have been made with the property owner.
Accepted payments include: personal cheque, money order, Interac e-transfer and cash.
