We loved our three-day stay at the Amazing Jungle Treehouse! The property was exactly as listed, with beautiful scenery and the peaceful sounds of nature, including birds, rain, and of course Howler Monkeys. The open-air design and riverside setting made it a unique experience. It’s secluded, just as we expected, and perfect for disconnecting and enjoying nature. Shanna was a wonderful, attentive host who made sure we were doing well throughout our stay and even through the next leg of our trip. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful jungle getaway!

Great place off the beaten track

We enjoyed our stay at the Howler House, Shanna and Kenny were great, arranging our transportation and making sure we had everything we needed. They will soon have a couple of additional places you can stay at the property.

Our stay at Howler House was just as we imagined it could be. The hosts were absolutely amazing and quick with responses. Shanna picked us up from the water taxi, arranged our excursions, and was so helpful with any questions we had about the area. Kenny was there daily cleaning the pool or the yard. They both were so easy to talk to and really enjoyed spending time with them. The monkeys were all around and there was 2 babies that were very curious and came quite close. A wonderful experience! Waking up to all the birds singing was a great way to start the day, can’t be beat. The pool was very nice to cool down in since there was no a/c in the house but there were many fans that kept the air moving. I loved staying there and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Shanna was so kind taking care of all our needs. She made our first international trip feel easy. If you're thinking about staying here I would not hesitate. It's truly an amazing jungle experience. The howler monkeys were so amazing to sit and watch. We had a few baby howlers which were adorable. The little crocodile in the pond was fun to see. Thanks again for an amazing stay!

A treehouse in the jungle is a great way to unwind from the daily rigors of life. I truly enjoyed the serenity. Shana and Kenny made me feel like family! I want to come back!!!

Howler House is spectacular and I wish we had more than one day to stay. It's quiet and totally beautiful with lots of trees and river views. Shanna and Kenny were great hosts. We heard howlers across the river and four toucan perched in the trees. We walked to a nearby market and cooked dinner in a well stocked kitchen. It's very relaxed and highly recommended!

Amazing off the beaten path location

We stayed here for two nights in March with our 9 and 15 yr old. The location felt remote but was only 30min from the airport. The accommodation was clean and spacious. We loved the front deck and indoor hammock. Everyone was so kind and helpful! Shanna organized tours and tickets for us at great rates. Rudy picked us up at the airport and stopped at the bakery, produce stand and grocery store. He also took us cave tubing. He was an amazing guide! I would highly recommend this property and will definitely be returning.

We had a miserable time. It was unbearably hot (30C) and humid all the time we were there, in spite of the many fans throughout the house. (I know, my mistake in not checking on the availability of air conditioning beforehand). Worst of all though were the hordes of mosquitoes and other biting insects INSIDE the house. They would come in through poorly fitted doors and even floorboards! Because of this we could not really enjoy some of the positive aspects of the property. The photos in the posting showed two comfortable looking hammocks. They were not there, replaced by one that had been improperly repaired and was most uncomfortable.But the monkeys did put on a show.

This is a lovely, secluded retreat. We saw so many reviews of monkeys and animals, sadly that was not our experience. The hosts are lovely and extremely helpful. Be aware that this is VERY rustic stay, so be prepared for massive bug issues and extreme heat. The fans help, but if you are not prepared to sleep in 85 degree weather with massive humidity- this is uncomfortable. We were a bit naive about the reality of this, not the fault of the owners, just not the best choice for us. We would have loved to have encountered the monkeys. We were able to hear 1x. This is a great option for those wanting a more rugged look at jungle options.

We very much enjoyed our stay at The Howler House. When we walked inside, we noticed the cleanliness of the property. Kenny took us to a local bakery, meat shop, and grocery where we were able to buy food to cook. At this point in our trip, we were ready to skip the restaurants. We also stopped at a roadside food stand and were able to buy a lunch of chicken, beans, and rice. We enjoyed seeing more of the local culture at these places. The place is much bigger than expected with a lot of outdoor decks to enjoy viewing the peacefulness of the river. There are fans everywhere, but be prepared--it is hot and humid. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it if you want an adventure. We did not see any wildlife. My husband tried the canoe, but the dock is not in good shape in which to launch

A very unique experience!!

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the Howler House from 12/31-1/3/25. Staying in this charming jungle house on the banks of the Belize River was amazing!! We had Howler monkeys right on our deck, a crocodile in the pond and beautiful parrots flying overhead. They provide bikes and a canoe but we were not able to use them due to recent heavy rains. The best part though were our hosts Shanna and Kenny. They were in constant contact and could not do enough for us.., from picking us up at the airport, arranging our excursions, buying tickets for our transfers to Ambergris Caye. and just being caring friends!! If you are looking for a 5 star deluxe hotel this is not for you BUT if you are adventurous and looking for a unique experience and want to know more about Belize and its people and culture, you will love Howler House!! Thanks Shanna and Kenny (and your beautiful daughter Kenyiah) for such a wonderful stay!

Note: Whereas we originally signed up for Jungle House, they needed to switch us to Howler Landing. (explanation not clear). That said, the house was very nice, quite beautiful, comfortable, with 2 comfortable queen beds, modern appliances, spacious, and very well stocked (except no shampoo or soap for shower). Shanna & Kenny were "super", friendly, helpful, communicative & provided transportation (for a price) between destinations. They were very responsive to questions & concerns. You will see Howler monkeys quite close up. There is a river nearby, but you have to "wade" through construction "stuff" & mud to get to it. It's not "swimmable". The negatives were: its remote location, in a fairly poor neighborhood with few services nearby. There is a fair amount of traffic noise. The property is under construction (other buildings in the immediate vicinity) & so it's kind of a "mess" at this time; so the "surroundings" are quite suboptimal -- it may be better in the future. A nearby neighbor cranks up his stereo very loud much of the daytime, but fortunately, not at night.

Worst trip ever

The description of a romantic, relaxing stay is not true. They have 3 more cabins being built close by, so people were around all the time. When the host told us that she would have us picked up at the airport, that was true but the managers charged us 55 US dollars. When we needed a ride to pick up a rental vehicle we were charged another 35. The rides were about 15 minutes long. They also didn't tell us that there was no longer a washer, so we packed thinking we could wash clothes. My husband had to get up on a stool (71 years old) to stuff paper towel in all the gaps along the roof so we weren't biten by bugs any more. I had more than 50 bites that itch like crazy - not fun. We must have spent a couple hours trying to close up gaps at the bottom and top of doors, also holes in the screens.Very disappointing after you save up to go on vacation. Shannon and Ken pock us

Carol we are sorry you went through this experience, our description is very specific and it states that Its off the beaten path and in the jungle. We never listed that there was a washer or dryer, so I believe that was a misunderstanding from the beginning. As it relates to services charged for, it's a separate service and we made mention from the beginning of the conversation. You guys had rented a vehicle so you are aware of the high fuel prices. So we could not offer the service for free. Again we are sorry you were so dissatisfied.

The Howler House lived up to it’s name! As we arrived a family of Hower monkeys came to eat from the trees above! I had one night in Belize and wanted to experience the rain forest. Here we got to see the friendly croc in the river, red and green iguanas in the tree outside, parrots, monkeys and more! We lounged in the hammocks and took the canoe out for a ride. No AC but fans kept us plenty cool! We hired Kenny as transportation and he took us everywhere we wanted and shared a wealth of information! We had an amazing time here!

Très déçus-trop cher pour ce que c’est

Une expérience plutôt mauvaise. Nous sommes arrivés et la boîte à clé était vide, sans clés. Heureusement que la voisine était présente et a pu appeler la propriétaire, pour régler le problème, sinon nous aurions été seuls en pleine nuit au milieu d’un endroit que nous ne connaissions pas, qui plus est avec un bébé. La maison était plutôt sale, avec un éclairage très faible, aucune vitre et seulement des moustiquaires, qui malheureusement étaient pleines de trous. Le wi-fi n’a jamais fonctionné. Les animaux sont bien présents sur la propriété, mais cela n’a malheureusement pas réussi à relever le niveau. Rapport qualité prix médiocre.

I loved the location and serenity of this place. But best of all was the wildlife! Howler monkeys come up really close, like right to the front trees. We saw 2 crocs in the river and a baby croc in the pond. Parrots and iguanas in the trees as well. My 6 year old daughter loved it as well. I really wish we could have stayed a whole month here.

The setting is magnificent with howler monkeys, birds galore, iguanas and the mosquito eating geckos on the Belize River. All of this and only 6 miles to the airport. Start or end your stay in Belize in the jungle! This location is hard to find so be sure to have directions. Great eats down the road at Jamesville Restaurant!
