Nice practical place. Could use fresher linens, etc and attention to painting type detail. Photographs are a little misleading this way.
Great location, perfect for 4.
This is a great townhouse in Georgetown. The location worked perfectly for us as my brother-in-law was running in the MCM. Quick walk for your morning Starbucks (.4 miles) and plenty of restaurants nearby as well. We typically uber'd everywhere. Kitchen is well-equipped and the appliances are modern. Not a ton of space to move around, but that is common of city life, so no complaint there. Internet worked great. Bathrooms have been updated, house was clean upon arrival.
My negative would be the basement. The carpet and furniture is in really bad shape, very dirty. There is a musty smell upon entering the house which we could dissipate by leaving doors open, but it remained in the basement. Also, it was damp and cold and we couldn't get the heat to work. Luckily we had packed our own blankets, because the bedding in the basement was not good. During the day it was fine as it was in the 70s and we had everything off so we could open windows to freshen up, but for us Texans 50s overnight is a bit chilly. Owners response was that he was still running his air. No response at all from his "fixer" after multiple phone calls. If you are staying in the second floor bedrooms only, I would give 4-5 stars, but the basement apartment is 0 stars.
I have to agree with some of the previous reviews, if you are gong to price gouge, in this case for graduation, then deliver. Great location, great to have 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, the place was filthy. Arrived to empty bottles and full ashtrays on the back porch. Disgusting. Cigarette butts littered the back yard. Cant see out of the windows because they haven't been cleaned in years, and to top it off, made the mistake of lifting the filthy rug to find 4 inches of dirt. This place is totally hands off, no amenities, like coffee filters, random trash and old items through out the house. The house is on a corner and the trash cans are outside the front door, so each morning there was trash overflowing put there by passerbys or neighbors perhaps, a pretty disgusting thing to wake up to. The location is killer, within a block of Wisconsin, totally convenient for Georgetown university and walkable to M street, but we are going back to the Westin.
Over Priced and Underwhelmed
Yes, this home is on a lovely street and located in a great neighborhood; we couldn't have been happier with the location. As for the house itself, not so much. If an owner is going to price gouge during the Women's March on Washington weekend, I think the least they can do is provide a spotlessly clean home. We paid 3X the normal rate and not even the slightest effort had been made to make up for it. The floors were filthy; one trip through the house in white socks told the ugly story, and the bathrooms need a thorough deep clean. I've rented many homes and each of them had a "Welcome" bottle of wine or a personal note wishing us a pleasant stay. Not so in this case. In fact, there weren't even coffee filters that fit the coffee maker. The next time I'm in D.C. I will definitely stay in this neighborhood, just not in this particular property.
We attended the annual SHRM conference in DC as a group of 4, and rented this beautiful home in Georgetown. The owner was great to work with, and the home was within walking distance of shopping, grocery store, drug store, restaurants, etc. Perfect location, perfect town, perfect stay!! I love Georgetown!!
Perfectly nice place
We had a nice time staying here. The location is great and the house suited our needs. The kitchen had what we needed and it was spacious enough to spread out. The owners were good communicators in advance of the trip. Having a washer was nice. And we did enjoy having cable to watch our team's game one night.
I don't give it five stars because there were a few deficiencies. The worst was that the front (master) bedroom had a lot of street noise. Even with earplugs, the buses etc right out front meant I did not sleep well. The kids in the back of the house and downstairs were fine, but not me.
Also I am accustomed to rentals sharing more information of use to travelers. I've rented quite a few places and most come with info on things like how to get bus tickets, good places to eat, etc and none of that was there. There was one map, which I appreciated, but I would've liked more. (For example, it took a while to figure out we could buy metro and bus passes at the cvs on Wisconsin ave; that would've been nice to know. Or which bus to take to the Safeway..).
The property itself had a few issues, nothing major. The steps out front were in some places falling apart, and the lever on the toilet didn't work. The dishwasher didn't work well on the top rack--the coffee cups didn't get very clean. But nothing major.
Lovely neighborhood, easy to get to via bus, a great vacation.
Best of Georgetown. Block off Wisconsin Ave. DC Circulator bus stop at corner will bring you direct to monuments. 3256 Q Street Northwest has a Walk Score of 98 out of 100. This location is a Walker’s Paradise so daily errands do not require a car. This location is in the Georgetown neighborhood in Washington D.C.. Nearby parks include Volta Street Playground, Volta Park and Book Hill Park.
