Overview

About the property

Two Bedrooms, Two Bathrooms, Air Conditioning, With Nice Canal View

Located at the first floor of an historic Venetian Renaissance little palace, with a nice view over a picturesque Venetian canal, in one of the most beautiful parts of the Dorsoduro district, Arcobaleno (Rainbow) is a fresh and charming Venetian apartment. In June 2013 it has been renovated and completely reappointed by the owners, who lived here till 2012. Rooms are nicely and delicately painted with the colors of the rainbow.

The flat is facing a small canal which you can view from all the flat windows. Placed in a true Venetian neighborhood, not in the middle of the tourist area, you will be able to experience the local coffee shops, bars and restaurant of Campo Santa Margherita and several wonderful restaurants all within 100 meters. Minimarkets, freshly baked bread and pastries shops, daily fish and groceries, including the last-in-Venice picturesque grocer-on-a-boat, are all at a short and pleasant walk away.

Many attractions, including the Academia Gallery of Venetian painters and the Guggenheim Collection (former Peggy Guggenheim home in Venice) can be also reached by a short walk. Crossing the Accademia wooden bridge, the most photographed place in Venice (just 5 minute walk) according to Google Sightsmap, you can reach St. Mark's square with a 20 minute sightseeing walk. And if you do not feel like to walk, the flat is very close to the 'vaporetto/ferry' (Ca Rezzonico stop is just one little bridge away) with which you can easily move in the city.

Beautifully furnished with high class fittings and fully appointed with modern life commodities (heating/air conditioning, TV, free WiFi access, DVD and CD players) the flat is composed (map is provided with photographs) of two bedrooms (a double and twin) with access to a mosaic decorated bathroom (with shower), a second large bathroom (with bath tub and washing/dryer machine - close to the living room), an entrance, a living room and the kitchen. A storage for shoes and luggage is available outside at the same floor.

The bedrooms are cozy and warm with an original Renaissance, fully restored wooden ceiling and a new parquet floor. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave and electric ovens, dishwasher, fridge, cooking plates, toaster, cattle and coffee machine and serves an elegant dining area. The living room is comfortable and sunny. A sofa bed can accommodate an extra 2 people.

About Marco

I was born and grown in Venice. I spent 5 years abroad (US and Spain) and then returned to Venice in 2003, to live in the flat you will rent with my wife and daughter. In 2013, after 10 years living here, I moved to a larger flat in Venice, and now Arcobaleno is at your disposal for a wonderful stay in Venice.

Marco purchased this apartment in 2003

Why Marco chose Venice

The flat is equipped and arranged as it was for my family, so you will find it perfectly comfortable. My wife loves colors and so the flat walls are painted in different colors. This is why we decided to call it Arcobaleno, that in Italian means Rainbow.

What makes this apartment unique

The flat is full of sun, with a nice view over one of the most picturesque canals in Venice and a nice garden on the other side of the canal. The building is a historic Venetian Renaissance little palace (listed by the Cultural Heritage Ministry), fully restored outside and inside. The flat is perfectly equipped for making your stay easier: you will have a fully equipped kitchen, satTV, stereo, Wifi connection for free 24h/24h, two bathrooms (one with washing/dryer machine), air conditioning and heating. The Dorsoduro district, one of the most elegant, is in the very heart of Venice. In the nearby area you can find all you need for your stay, from food shops to restaurants and bars.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed the apartment very much. We really

appreciated Chiara's help on moving in, and her extremely detailed map that

she gave us. We used it every day and took it with us everywhere.

We didn't cook - we ate out all the time - but did keep fruit and drinks in the refrigerator. We marveled at your combination washing machine and dryer!

Everything worked very well and each day that we explored the city, we

appreciated Arcobaleno's location more and more. Much of our time we spent

walking through the neighborhoods and seeing a few exhibits and museums. We

really enjoyed our stay and had a very relaxing time. Thank you for all your

suggestions - some of them we were able to do, some of them we will save for

next time. We hope to return to Venice someday soon!

Thanks again for all your communication and for a lovely stay in Arcobaleno.

Great stay in Venice

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent experience with our rental in Venice. Marco was very easy to communicate with before our trip, and when we took the water bus from the airport, he met us at the Ca' Rezzonico stop to walk us to the apartment, which helped us get oriented. He spent a lot of time explaining how everything worked in the apartment (European appliances aren't always intuitive for Americans like us!) and giving us recommendations for places to eat nearby. He was also quick to reply and very friendly and helpful when we had questions while we were in Venice.

The apartment itself was nice (spacious, bright, well-equipped kitchen, washer/dryer), but probably the best thing about it was the location, including having a canal right outside the windows. We loved being in Dorsoduro, which was a bit off the beaten path but still within walking distance of major sights (20 minutes to St. Mark's Square or the Rialto Bridge) and with plenty of restaurants/cafes/shops nearby. Nearby Campo San Barnaba became our local hangout, and bustling Campo Santa Margherita (where there was a small supermarket) was also very close.

The only slight negative was some evening noise from pedestrians outside since a busy walkway is across the canal. Despite the apartment having solid windows and shutters, several nights were still a bit noisy when we were trying to sleep, although we were also jet-lagged so we were probably more sensitive to the noise than usual. Having said that, the noise did not outweigh all of the positives of staying in the apartment.

We highly recommend Marco's apartment and the neighborhood, and we would absolutely stay there again!

Excellent!

  • 5 of 5

Choosing this property was the best decision our family made on the trip to Venice! It was perfect, and it made our Venice trip perfect! It must have been recently remodeled, because it looked brand new, with nice new furniture and great new appliances! Stores and restaurants just a few steps away! Close walking distance to some of the best museums in Venice! Two-minute walk to the Vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal! And, the owner, Marco, is the nicest person you'll meet in Venice. He advised us on the best places to visit. This was the perfect vacation and it all started with finding the perfect flat!

Great, bright, happy Venice home

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was great for our family of 5 while staying in Venice, and also easily fit a sixth guest who stayed with us for one night. It was clean, neat, comfortable, and generally a really nice place to stay.

If you like southern Venice (Dorsoduro), this is a great location. It is just off of the main 'tourist loop', and very close to several interesting plazas. But, this is not the highest traffic section of the loop, so it still feels very quiet. If you want to get a bit of a feel for non-tourist Venice, check out Campo Santa Margherita (about a 3-4 minute walk) - particularly on a weekend night it is full of locals having a good time. If you'd rather stay with the more ordinary Venice experience, Campo San Barnaba is only a few steps from the door and has plenty of great gelato, pastries, and restaurant food.

The apartment has a combo washing machine / dryer, which was very handy. It is also only a 2 minute walk from the Ca'Rezzonico waterbus stop, which is very convenient from the airport or train station. We were met at the waterbus stop and taken to the apartment, which made life very easy.

Highly recommended!

un lieu idéal

  • 5 of 5
