*Disclaimer: Jamaica is a Caribbean island. While this provides incredible beauty and natural wonders from sky to sea, it also means that, heat, humidity, sudden tropical squalls, and power and water outages are common occurrences.

Springvale is mostly a quiet neighborhood. However, sometimes residents host outdoor parties. For those guests who are highly noise sensitive please keep this in mind. Living on a tropical island also means an abundance of Geckos (harmless, but will hang on the walls), ants, and mud crabs (edible and delicious) and of course mosquitoes!

Things listed above will not be accepted as reasons for cancelation or refunds. Thank you for understanding.

Please understand that this is an individual private home. You are responsible for your own food, toiletries, and transportation. That said, we try to keep the basic necessities stocked, and do everything we can to ensure your stay is comfortable and pleasant.

About Bryant Laschober

I am a Jamaica lover through and through. It has been my dream to have a place here, and now I can share it's beauty with others :)

Bryant Laschober purchased this house in 2014

Why Bryant Laschober chose Negril

I have been traveling to Jamaica since my teens when I lived with a Jamaican family. I have always found Negril to be my favorite part of the country. The wonderful foods, arts and crafts, and the pleasures of the seemingly endless beaches and cliffs kept me coming back. When I saw the chance to own such a lovely and peaceful property only minutes from town, I knew I had found my dream home. I am excited to share the experience with fellow travelers :)

What makes this house unique

You can't find a better example of the 'Real' Jamaica so close to all the attractions and conveniences of Negril. The mountain views are serene and captivating. There are so many nice people to meet in 'the lane', and learn about the authentic Jamaican ways of life. With all of the wonderful attractions in the area, it is still hard to not spend most of the day swinging on the hammock in the cool mountain breeze :)

Meet Cowboy and try some turtle soup. Have Subrena cook you an authentic Jamaican breakfast, dinner, or baked delights. Jungo will crack fresh coconuts for you, and show you how to make tie-dye t's from the local herbs and roots. Spend a lazy afternoon fishing off the old bridge, or Mr. Green's dock. Weekly parties are held in 'the lane', so enjoy the smooth reggae melodies as they float across the hills. Catch a local football (soccer) or cricket match at the ball field just up the road. Fetch natural mineral drinking water from right out of the rocks at nearby Silver Spring, or take a mineral water shower at the sacred Gutta Wall. Do some authentic Jamaican shopping in Sav-la-Mar, the capitol of Westmoreland parish, only a brief 20 min. drive. Of course, Negril is right around the corner, so there is always LOTS TO DO!

Relaxing Stay

  • 4 of 5

We chose Peartree due it's proximity to the strip as well as it's seclusion from it as having lost my wife recently made this a holiday of reflection. The house was what we expected and the location stunning and peaceful.

We have been in Negril area numerous times over the years and this by far was the most enjoyable house we rented in the price range. Gorgeous views a constant breeze and the pool made the lazy days comfortable and extremely relaxing.

The draw for us was the close proximity of the beach and strip but moreover the relaxing nature of the house and it's location.

Jocko (Rene) an extremely nice fellow was around and kept the pool clean, has a great vegetable garden and cooked a couple meals when asked to including Curry Goat exhibiting his culinary skills.

We had a couple minor issues, as typically expected that were dealt with so promptly by the owner Bryant from Maryland that it actually pleasantly surprised me given the typical "soon come" attitude of the people in Jamaica.

All in all, a great stay at a great place. Thanks Bryant for all the help.

I loved the property

  • 5 of 5

The house was very nice and clean, the bedrooms are big and comfortable. As soon as you step outside the view surrounding the house is beautiful ,the grass feels so good on your feet,it's like a tropical paradise. There is a nice cabana on the side of the house where you can relax and enjoy the view ,eat meals,or have a nice party with friends and family. The private driver and cook were very nice and dependable, whatever you want or need they are always available to help, the food was some of the best I ever had, whatever you want breakfast, lunch ,dinner and snacks was better than any restaurant I have been to. Overall I loved the property and the driver and cook and will definitely be back soon.

Warning fellow travellers:

  • 2 of 5

This house is one mile up from the highway on an unpaved “road” that is like a donkey trail full of rocks and potholes. Taxis will not drive it.

Bam has a good vehicle and can navigate it but he lives a 45 minute drive away in the city of Lucea and has another job. We barely saw him. It is fine to walk the road during the day but it is very unwise to walk it after dark with roving dogs all around.

If you are okay with being home every night by 6:30 pm, the house itself is really nice and airy and the porch and view of the countryside are wonderful. The people in the village around the property are really friendly.

A few other points:

a) There are many trees on the property but there is no fruit.  Maybe in a few years there will be but there is none at present.

b) The raft is broken and there is no access at Peartree to other boats or kayaks.

c) There was no WiFi connection.

d) The fishing bridge is a rusted out hulk of metal. It is definitely not a place to hang out.

Because of the inaccessible road, we decided to rent two rooms for three nights at Negril beach so we could go out in the evenings. That cost us an extra $600, an unexpected hit to our budgets. Good luck.

Owner's Response: I'm really sorry you guys didn't have a better experience. However, Bam is always available with a simple phone call. You never once reached out to either him or me during your stay. To address your points: a) Fruit trees bear fruit at different times of the year. We have MANY fruit trees the produce delicious mangoes, avocados, guavas, naseberries, almonds, bananas, and much more. b) I'm sorry that the raft was broken, but I did alert you to this before your trip. There are lots of kayak and canoe rentals in Negril, and we can always arrange a boat ride for you. c) The Wi-fi modem is located underneath the tv in the living room, with printed instructions. Had you called me, I could have helped you connect. There are also instructions on my "Hospitality" page d) The old bridge is just that, old. Great place to relax and fish, we do it all the time! Again, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the property, but hopefully you will return to Jamaica soon. One Love!

Great Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for something off the beaten path but close enough to everything then this is the place to be. From the beautiful beaches (just a quick scooter ride) to the friendly neighbors, you will find the "real" Jamaican experience when you stay here. I could not have asked for more. Bam was great and waiting for me at the airport when i arrived. We made a couple of stops on the way to the villa for food and beer. The drive and scenery was fantastic. When we arrived, the estate was everything as described, except the views were better. I spent hours in the hammock watching the sun come up and go down over the foothills of this majestic spot. Great place to get away! I would highly recommend Peartree for your next Jamaican vacation.
