About Liz Howell
I'm retired as Exec Director and founder of the Wyoming Wilderness Association. I grew up in Denver, CO. I am now a practicing painter, birder, hiker and traveler as well as a landlady! My M.F.A. degree is from the University of Washington.
Liz Howell purchased this House in 2001
Why Liz Howell chose Sheridan
I wanted to provide a homey and arty experience for the travelers while visiting Sheridan. This updated 1910 house has a wonderful history and lots of privacy in a quiet neighborhood with lovely big yard and gardens. I live in the other half, closed off by curtains and doors. Full kitchen is well-equipped. New WiFi TV and A/C unit installed in 2017.
What makes this House unique
I love Wyoming for its wildness. The Bighorn Mountains are only an hour away for fishing, hiking and camping. Sheridan is a super friendly town, small yet highly cultured. The WYO Theater brings wonderful events, musical, theatric and vital. The 20 miles of hiking/walking paths and parks in Sheridan are well developed. The Howell Hotel is located just 5 blocks from downtown restaurants, bars and shopping, and the very special SAGE Community Art Gallery. In the summer, Sheridan boasts a Farmers market every Thursday and the Third Thursday of every month is a great street festival with music, food and booths.

Very comfy place to stay in Sheridan
Great location near to the town, comfortably furnished and really well stocked with everything you need. The bathrooms are great, the house is clean and comfortable. This is my second stay with my dad and we will plan to stay again!
We were delighted to have you back, and next time the weather will be nice! Thanks so much for your kind words (the bathrooms are great!) and look forward to future visits.
Comfy home in a quiet neighborhood
We had a nice time hanging out, entertaining once for dinner and generally enjoying Sheridan. The house is in a nice little neighborhood, very close (walkable) to downtown. It was very hot on our weekend so we appreciated that there was A/C! Nice kitchen, two baths, all perfect!
I was delighted you had central A/C as well, as it was HOT! You were wonderful, considerate guests and I hope you'll be back!
It was great to be so close to our niece for her wedding and to have two bathrooms!!
We were five adults so it was great to have two bathrooms. We were close to downtown and to our niece who was getting married that weekend so we did a lot with her and for her. Nice and quiet neighborhood but the house was difficult to see because of all the vegetation in front of it. However we had our own driveway which was great. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen worked out great although we didn't eat there very often.
We had a good time in Sheridan and would like to come back to visit when it's not so hectic.
We absolutely loved this home during our 4 day stay in Sheridan.
Property was clean, comfortable, Liz provided everything we needed including a tent and camping chairs! Liz was a wonderful and welcoming host and we will definitely be booking the Howell Hotel next time we're in town!
The Howell Hotel was so happy to host such clean, respectful and fun loving guests. Please do come back next year to tackle the Bighorn and hope for sunnier skies. Happy Trails to you! and Thanks!
Loved it Liz was easy to work with
We loved it, quit place to stay, highly recommend
Thanks so much!
Quaint, Cozy, Quiet
We enjoyed the hominess of the place. It doesn't get too much natural light inside but we spent most of our time outside anyway.
Lots of nice art-work------mostly by Liz, the owner: we bought one of her watercolors.
Sheridan is a peaceful and very pleasant place to hang out. Try Frackelton's restaurant. Menu goes way beyond meat and potatoes and is prepared very well.
Must see places include King's Rope Saddlery Museum, Trails End Museum, 20 miles of walk/run/bike trails in Sheridan, Hike the Bighorns or the prairies east of town on wild public lands! Great birding following the river corridors.
