About Debbie Derusha
We (Craig and Debbie) care for 10 senior citizens in two nearby adult care homes. Friends often say they want to be in our care when they get old - or reincarnated as one of our dearly loved pets. The 600 sq ft cottage was built as an in-law unit located on our property. We have worked hard to create a beautiful peaceful atmosphere. We relocated from New England 24 years ago and have been living in our home since then.
Debbie Derusha purchased this Cottage in 2013
Why Debbie Derusha chose Hillendale

Wonderful modern getaway spot with a country feel
We loved the location and view out the sliding door. It was very comfortable with all the amenities required! Had fun giving Lucy treats; she's such a sweet dog. Only minutes from town, yet very quiet.
We recently stayed here while we attended a college basketball tournament in Portland. From the moment we walked through the front door to when we had to end our trip, this cottage is truly one of the best places we have stayed. The cottage was clean, the kitchen was well stocked for our cooking needs, bed was comfortable, and the choice of sports stations on TV was incredible. Our Golden Retriever was very comfortable and enjoyed visits from Lucy. We traveled into Portland via Max which was easy to learn. We utilized the Clackamus Transit Center which is located next to a large mall so shopping was easy. Fred Meyers and Safeway were only a mile from the cottage so obtaining groceries was easy. We will be back!!!
This place is GREAT and we'll be back.
Can't recommend the cottage enough. It's a real pearl, decorated very tastefully, kitchen well equipped, enough storage for the two of us... and the bonus of visits from Lucy and Smoky. Whenever we visit the Portland area again, we hope to stay at the cottage.
Relaxing and peaceful
Loved this place. Very friendly and helpful owners. Dog friendly and very nice place to stay! Would defiantly stay again.
What a wonderful cozy cottage! I stayed a month and hate to leave. Super well-stocked, lovely grounds, neat area to walk and explore. I will definitely be back! Thank you Debbie and Craig...and Lucy.
Well equiped, well taken care of. Convenient location, modern and comfortable.
Owners are hospitable and accomodating. Everything it was advertised. We have stayed here for extended periods three times now - it feels like a second home.
Thank you so much John and Pat. You are the best "neighbors". We hope to see you again next year at some point. Hope you arrive home safely.
