Looking for a relaxing, rustic but comfortable vacation home to enjoy the beauty of nature? This Florence, Oregon vacation rental is close to town and the beach, but still far enough away that you can appreciate the solitude and quiet from your lakefront home.
This rustic retreat is about five miles northeast of Florence, directly on the shore of the stunning Mercer Lake. It is a remote, forested area, and about one mile of the drive is over a dirt road, so you will feel extra removed from the hustle and bustle of town. However, when you're ready to explore the area, the restaurants, shops, and attractions of downtown Florence are only a 15-minute drive away.
Your vacation property is a perfect place to unplug from your electronics because it has no TV (though WiFi and a telephone are available, to make communication easier, as well as board games and books), so this is a great opportunity to take the whole family to reconnect with each other. The two-bedroom, two-bathroom home has enough beds to sleep nine people, though a loft area will sleep a few extra children if they bring along sleeping bags. You can even bring two dogs, though a nightly fee per dog and minimum fee per stay will apply.
The main level of this nautical-themed house features a comfortable, sunny living room overlooking the lake, plus a full kitchen with everything you may need to cook up a nice meal for everyone. This level also has a bedroom with a full-size bed, an additional sleeping area with a queen-size bed, a full bathroom, and a loft area.
The lower level has a bathroom with a washer and dryer, plus a huge room with a queen-size bed and a twin-over-queen bunk. But don't forget your upper deck, a great place to watch the lake, and the lower deck that has access to a fire pit and your very own private dock. Mercer Lake is a great, safe place to swim, and you can use the provided canoe to paddle around and explore the nooks and crannies of the area.
This beautiful home is an ideal place to enjoy a peaceful getaway and feel removed from the stress and worry of normal life. If you feel like getting out, the beach is just 15 minutes away, as is the small-town charm of Florence, though you may be content to stay at the house and maybe walk a few steps to lovely Mercer Lake.
For a relaxing retreat spent enjoying the beauty of nature, this home provides a perfect place to enjoy your vacation on the Central Coast.
*Please note: A maximum of three vehicles may park in the designated area for the household. Trailers, RVs, and boat trailers cannot access this home, and vehicles without AWD are not recommended. The driveway for the household is a shared easement to the house next door. There are signs designating the parking for this house. Please only use the designated spots beyond the signs to the right so there driveway is clear for guests in the other house. When leaving please be very careful not to back down the neighbors drive way while turning around. Thank you for the extra effort.
Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.
Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.
Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!
Wish weather would have been better, although grandkids were able to go out in canoe before we left. Great place for young kids, the loft is set up with little tables and games. No beds in loft, they are in lower level, spare bedroom on ground level is in desperate need of a new bed! Hard to find so maybe more signs, left once and had no phone service couldn't find way back. Storm fell trees in driveway so we were forced to stay an extra nite, didn't break our hearts as we enjoyed every minute of it! Check in needs to be earlier, mostly on short daylight season, getting bearings in the dark isn't easy. Very edgy neighbor guy, before you check in he may rub you the wrong way. Would stay again in a heartbeat!🚣🎯
Too bad the neighbor continues to make such a nice place very negative. (Other reviews mention neighbor as well ) He actually came onto the deck ( which is very invasive due to orientation of access door) to say he wanted my car moved. The entire parking situation allows neighbor to use this rental driveway but does not allow renters to use his driveway to simply back up for a safe turn around. Too bad. I will not return because of neighbor.
This vacation home is located in a quiet, remote area on beautiful Lake Mercer. The 1.7 mile drive on the all-dirt road was absolutely gorgeous! It was as if you were driving through a fern grotto on your way to an exclusive resort destination. A four-wheel or All Wheel drive is a must as the dirt road can become rather muddy in inclement weather. We highly recommend that you plan your arrival in the daylight hours as there are a few tricky turns. While proper signage exists, it is somewhat difficult to decipher, even during the day. Upon arrival at the cabin, your vehicle will be situated in a short parking area - which is basically the end of the home's one-lane driveway. There is very little room to turn your vehicle around, but, it CAN be done without utilizing the neighbor's driveway, which is strongly discouraged. The interior of the cabin is definitely rustic. There is no TV, but there IS wi-fi, which is useful if you bring your own computer. We would also strongly recommend you contact your cell carrier prior to your arrival to have your wi-fi calling activated in case of emergencies, as the cell coverage in this remote area is very sketchy at best. The kitchen is very well set up and stocked with everything you may need for an extended stay (we stayed 10 days and had everything we required). There are two full bathrooms and a laundry area that are acceptable and functional. There is a new BBQ on the top deck with a side burner that's great for cooking your fish without stinking up the house. The reason I didn't give this vacation home 5 stars is due to the beds. In the one bedroom on the main floor, the mattress was very soft and had little support. Conversely, the other bed located on the main floor - which was located in a "room" I wouldn't call a bedroom as there was no closet and no door (it has vertical blinds for privacy), was too firm and needed replacing. Additionally, the queen sized bed downstairs had a large 'sink hole' in the middle of it and it too should be replaced. While this sounds very negative, the beauty of the area and the peace that we experienced while here far outweighs the less than ideal bed situation. Additionally, the price just can't be beat. We were VERY happy with this location and hope to be able to return sometime in the near future.
This cabin is located at the end of a 1.7 mile dirt road - definitely accessible to 4x4's or AWD vehicles ONLY. I strongly recommend arriving at your cabin during the daylight hours as the cabin is situated in an extremely secluded area. There is ample parking for 2-3 cars, but if you bring 3 cars, all three cars would need to be compact cars with AWD. The parking area is located at the end single lane road (aka driveway) so turning around is somewhat of a challenge, but, it CAN be done WITHOUT using the neighbor's driveway. The cabin rate is well priced and it met our basic needs. There is an upper level (with kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and living room - with a bed in what was probably meant to be a dining room) and there is a lower level (not accessible except by the outdoor stairwell) with 3 more beds and a combo bathroom/laundry facility. There is a fire pit in the back yard and there is a private dock. Fishing for blue gill, bass and perch off the dock is very productive. There is a brand new BBQ with side burner on the top deck. Wi-fi is free but the speed is somewhat slow - our streaming was interrupted with several episodes of buffering. We had NO cell phone coverage with Verizon so be sure to enable your wi-fi calling prior to your stay for emergency calling purposes. Regarding the one and only neighbor, we found them to be very nice people. We respected their space and honored the quiet times of 10pm to 7am and they appreciated that. I'm sure when they purchased their property all those years ago, they expected to have only one neighbor, the rustic cabin owner. But, because this is now a VACASA rental, they see probably 30+ new neighbors every year. My best recommendation is to be respectful of them and their privacy and you won't have anything to worry about.
We recently stayed at this very cute rustic cabin and we enjoyed the location the view and the amenities. We like that we could stay at the cabin and have a secluded retreat or go into Florence and enjoy some of the attractions locally .
