Perfect House for a Ladies' Wine Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had eight friends stay in this great house for a long weekend, and it was lovely.

The house itself is excellent. It's got plenty of character and detail, the furnishings and finishes are cozy and well-kept, and the bathrooms and kitchen are updated. Seven bedrooms, most with king beds, and four bathrooms, made it a very comfortable sharing situation for us. Plenty of white, fluffy towels and nice toiletries, plus robes. We loved sitting on the front porch rockers in the morning while having our coffee. The only complaint anyone had was that the house was FREEZING! The A/C was on auto-pilot and there are signs that say, "Please do not adjust thermostat." We were all so cold, especially the two gals in the basement.

The location is unbeatable. It was so convenient to walk two blocks to the main drag, where there are plenty of restaurants, wine tasting rooms, and funky little shops to keep us occupied for a few days. Safeway is also just three blocks away. Great not to drive a whole lot during our stay, and feel safe drinking without having to drive back late in the evening. The neighborhood is quiet and well-lit. It is also just two blocks to Whitman College, where a morning walk through campus is quite picturesque.

All in all a great stay!

Owner's Response: Apologies you were cold due to the AC setting. Please call us next time and we'll adjust it to your comfort level.

Fantastic place for large groups

  • 5 of 5

Birch St Estate is fantastic! We stayed here for Spring Release 2017 with 7 couples. We had plenty of room to spread out.We even had 3 more couples for a total of 20 people there for dinners. All rooms were well appointed with nice linens and spacious. Never had problems sharing bathrooms! Kitchen is well stocked and can handle service for large groups. Patio is very comfortable. Parking was adequate--we parked up to 5 cars at a time in the driveway. Easy 10minute walk to downtown. Quiet at night in residential area. Garage was great to have access to for our bicycles. Would highly recommend and will return!

Wonderful accommodations for 18 members of my family attending a wedding

  • 5 of 5

Lots of both private and common space. Huge kitchen with a very welcome center island where much of the social interaction can and did take place. Walking distance to downtown Walla Walla for coffee, breakfast, lunch, wine tasting! Neighbors are grumps, but we worked around that.

Excellent wine weekend with friends

  • 5 of 5

Our third annual wine weekend. This year seven couples loved loved loved their 3 night stay at Birch Street. Comfortable bedrooms, a kitchen with nearly everything you need to dine in and walking distance to downtown restaurants, stores and wineries. The downstairs TV area was perfect for after dinner movies or afternoon soccer match viewing. Even with the light rain it was a joy sitting in the front porch rockers and having a glass of wine with friends.

If you don't feel like cooking all your meals but don't want to go out the property manager put us in touch with Chef Colleen from What's Cooking. She can do anything from a drop off entree to a full blown, served and catered meal at incredibly reasonable prices. We did three different entrees and all were delicious.

Great house for large group

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 7 couples stay at Birch St. for a long weekend of wine tasting and golf. The home was perfect for our group. Everyone had their own bedroom in VERY comfortable beds. The kitchen was well stocked - enough dishes, glasses, flatware, etc. The knives were even sharp (which never seems to happen in a rental!) The easy walk to town was a plus. Only downside was that the TV was DirectTV and we couldn't watch the Pac12 network (UW Husky and WSU Cougar fans in our group!) Other than that, I would have to say it was perfect! Highly recommend this home!
