House / Villa, built on a farm for the production of wine.

House / Villa comfortable situated in a century-old farm wine production, located in the village of Cavez belonging to Cabeceiras de Basto. Extremely nice for those seeking tranquility and contact with nature. The house consists of four fours served 2 WC with central heating (up to 8 people). The kitchen is fully equipped. Outside there is a natural pool surrounded by a vast lawn where several activities can be developed. The closure allows hike (or just view) an enormous scale, and visit the vineyards and farm animals. Is located along the River Tamega, its use for recreation (swimming, fishing, etc.) is possible. At Quinta de Vila Franca there are other houses, but far enough to ensure the necessary confidentiality. Nearly Guimaraes, Braga, Porto and Fafe (between 30min to 60min by car).

Property was 'down at heel'. Garden was nice but in parts unsafe for children.

Directions to the property were poor; when we eventually found it, no-one was there. Fortunately we found a neighbour who contacted the owner's representative, and we gained entry about an hour later.

The house had not been prepared, not cleaned etc.

The bed arrangements were unsatisfactory: the 'master' bedroom had two single beds pushed together - I have never slept in such an uncomfortable bed. Three of the single beds were on upstairs landings, and so children did not get to sleep easily.

The kitchen was very poorly equipped - no bread knife, no cereal bowls, no wine glasses, to name but a few.

The downstairs toilet did have a shower (as advertised), but it was full of 'stuff', which wasn't cleared out until several days after our arrival.

The outdoor pool was super, but no cleaning equipment was provided, and it was very difficult to get anyone to do anything about it. A poolside room which was part-built lacked safety fencing, resulting in an unprotected sheer drop of about 4 metres. The grass needed cutting when we arrived and it was not done until halfway through our two-week stay.

I was in frequent contact, by email, with the owner, who lives in Switzerland; none of his his local representatives spoke English, so we had to get by in French, as we don't speak Portuguese.

There was a complete lack of information about the area, or shops, doctors, etc.

Two of the owner's relatives, who did speak English, came by to try and help. They were quite shocked at the state of the property and lack of welcome.

The final straw came on our morning of departure - cleaners arrived shortly after 8am, and by 9am three of their children were using the pool!!

This is a beautiful area of Portugal and despite the disappointments of the property we really enjoyed our holiday. But in several respects it was unsuitable/unsafe for children, and we wouldn't consider staying there again.

Lovely property. Secluded, well equipped and very comfortable.

Owners communication was excellent. We were made to feel very welcome. The property is perfect if you want to be away from the crowds but still close enough to access many of the attractions of this beautiful area

Calme et cadre verdoyant

Accueil agréable, joli terrain, grande piscine et aménagements réalisés récemment. Nous avons apprécié la vue et le calme, bercé juste par l'eau de source et les grenouilles. Le lieu nécessite néanmoins un véhicule qui ne craint pas les chemins caillouteux.

petit coin traquille au millieu des vignes

Nous venons de passé une semaine tranquille ,au bord d'une piscine grandiose ,la maison et très bien équipée ,il y a tout à disposition ,seul les lits sont très fermes (je parle juste pour nous).Sinon l'accueil très bien avec des personnes très gentilles et serviables et à votre écoute si besoin ,encore un grand merci à Rosa et sa soeur tout était nickel ,et merci aussi pour le pain frais tous les matins .

Havre de paix.

Un véritable coup de coeur pour la villa Franca! Un acceuil chaleureux dans un domaine merveilleux! Entre la piscine naturelle la piscine turquoise toute neuve la source la rivière le jardin bucolique et le cadre environnant vous ne serez plus où donner de la tête. La maison est très bien équipée et très fraîche. La propriétaire est très généreuse et sympathique toujours inquiéte de notre confort. Mes enfants mon mari mon gros chien et moi même nous vous recommandons d'aller rêver à la villa Franca.
