play and relax. Complementary kayaks, bicycles, paddle boards, snorkel, fishing

Secluded property among tropical flora on a pristine white sandy beach. Be prepared to witness amazing sunrises and night time star-gazing while listening to the waves breaking on the barrier reef. Enjoy our thatched roof cabana just steps from the water. Located 10 miles north of town this is the ultimate get away for some rest and relaxation. Go ahead and grab yourself a hammock with an incredible view out to the reef or take one of our complimentary kayaks and paddle out to the reef for some of the very best snorkeling. Fishing poles and snorkeling gear, kayaks, paddleboards and bicycles are available for use at no charge.

The bedroom includes a king size pillow top bed, walk in closet and large dresser and a flat screen TV and DVD player. The bathroom has a wonderful walk in shower and double sinks. The living room has a flat screen Smart TV and DVD player and a fold out couch for additional guests or children. Our kitchen includes everything you need to cook your 'catch of the day'. Full size fridge, oven w/smooth stove top, microwave, toaster, blender and coffee maker. There is a breakfast bar that seats four for indoor dining. There is also a table and chairs on the patio for out door dining. We keep our kitchen stocked with all necessary cookware, plates, silverware.

For those who prefer to to eat out there is an on site restaurant. Open seven days a week.

The on site No Worries Dive Shop/tour company can assist with any needs including coordination for excursions such as fishing, diving the Blue Hole, snorkeling, exploring the mainland Mayan ruins, cave tubing and zip lining through the jungle or a visit to the Belize zoo.

Our resort is remote and designed for the guest who desires a quiet relaxing stay. Use your cabana as a home base for the many tours and excursions available. We are not for the traveler wanting to party. If this is what you are looking for we suggest you look elsewhere on the island.

Guests have access to our beautiful white sand beach with the barrier reef only 1/4 mile offshore, 3 pools, hammocks, lounge chairs, beach towels, 2 bars (indoor/outdoor), a restaurant ready to serve you breakfast, lunch and dinner.

There is a fee based water taxi company on the island which makes hourly runs up and down the coast. If you let the office know, they will have the water taxi stop at our dock to pick you up. Weekly passes are available at a discounted price in town at the Coastal Xpress dock. Golf carts can also be rented on site or in town. Though we have a new well maintained graded road, driving the road on a golf cart is seasonal, depending on the amount of rain the island has received. Please contact our staff, before deciding to drive up to Sapphire Beach for the first time. The road, during the rainy season can be quite a challenge when you haven't been forewarned. The office staff can also arrange to have a golf cart delivered to you.

You have several options for getting to Sapphire Beach Resort, and it depends entirely on what kind of vacation experience you want. Again, please allow our concierge to help you with these arrangements. There is no booking fee for this service.

• Boat transfer, $112.50 round-trip for up to six people. (This includes a return to town by van at the end of your stay.) You'll be picked up at the airport or water taxi docks in a cab and brought to the Tackle Box bar to wait for the No Worries boat to pick you up, then will be brought by boat to the resort. This is the method we recommend, as it's the most beautiful and relaxing.

• Van transfer, $100 round-trip for up to six people. (This includes a return to town by van at the end of your stay.) You'll be picked up at the airport or water taxi docks and brought by road to the resort.

• Coastal Xpress water taxi $20 one-way to Sapphire Beach, or a weekly pass for $135. Our staff can arrange for a taxi to pick you up at the airport and take you to the Coastal Xpress dock.

• Golf cart rental, price varies with length of stay.

If you want to move freely about the island on your own schedule, your best option is to rent a golf cart. However, we highly recommend that you have the golf cart delivered to you at the resort (no additional charge) and take one of the other options to get to the resort the first time so you know where it is and so you're not struggling with luggage. We advise you to reserve the golf cart in advance to guarantee availability.

Wireless internet on property

You'll be greeted by our wonderful staff when you check in at the front desk. You'll quickly see why Belize is so famous for having some of the friendliest people in the world. On check-in, your credit card will be charged for the following: 9% Belize hotel tax and a 6% service charge. Your credit card number will be kept on file to cover incidental charges.

About Greg and Mary Maas

My wife and I grew up on the beaches of southern California so we've always loved the ocean. While traveling to Central America we visited the island of Ambergris Caye, Belize. We fell in love with the beauty of the waves crashing on the barrier reef and the fine white sandy beaches. When we are not on the island we are pleased to offer our cabana's to guests wishing to have a wonderful island vacation.

Belize, being a former British Colony, has adopted English as the official language. That and the currency exchange and the universal acceptance of the US dollar makes visiting very easy.

Greg and Mary Maas purchased this house in 2010

Why Greg and Mary Maas chose San Pedro

We chose Sapphire Beach because of it's location. While it is a short 20-25 minute boat ride to the center of San Pedro town with all it's stores, shops, restaurants and nightclubs it far enough away to appreciate the quiet. The only traffic is an occasional bicycle rider or someone out strolling the sandy paths. You can listen to the breeze rustling through the palm tree fronds while laying in a hammock with your favorite book. This is what Sapphire Beach Resort is all about.

Way beyond our expectations. Our best vacation ever.

  • 5 of 5

Our cabana was beautiful, it made us feel like we were at home. Warm and cozy with views of the water. The grounds of the resort are well tended with everything green and so many flowers everywhere. The workers on the beach kept it clean, raking up the overnight Sargasso that has hit the island. The staff were incredibly nice, polite and helpful. Our host Greg was so easy to communicate with so there were no surprises. We absolutely loved our visit and hope to stay again on a return trip.

Excellent unit, facilities, staff and service!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 30 days from mid-Jan '18. Everything was as advertised, and we had all we needed in our cabana. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and proud of their resort and country. We had more rain and sea grass than we wanted, but the staff cleaned up the beach every morning. The downside is the 10 mi road North from San Pedro: rocky, huge potholes, and standing water frequently. A golf cart is required to go almost anywhere, tho bikes and walking suffices in many cases. You will need insect spray, and baby oil for the sand fleas. Our hosts answered ALL of our questions, usually the same day we sent them by email, and provided many hints and suggestions on eateries, events, tours, etc., as well as practical advice. All and all, a wonderful trip. We thank Greg and Mary for helping ensure our vacation was a success. Hats off to the SBR staff and restaurant employees, as well. Great food at moderate prices, BTW.

Wonderful quiet getaway

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I plus our 8 month old enjoyed our time here immensly! The cabana was just as described and had everything we needed for our 10 day stay. The staff at Sapphire Beach went above and beyond many times and do want the guests to enjoy themselves. The on-site restaurant serves amazing food and delivered it pretty much anywhere. It was a nice treat to have drinks brought all the way to the beach. Such a wonderful and quiet getaway. Overall, we would select Greg and Mary’s unit in a heartbeat. You really can see the beach from the unit much closer than the pictures show. Only tip: Bug spray! It was nice that the resort sprayed early mornings and evenings but they are relentless.

Quite and secluded spot for a relaxing vacation.

The casita was perfect for our family of four. The staff at the resort is really world class. I cannot compliment their team enough.

We had some bad timing in our trip and the water and beaches were filled with seaweed which diminished the crystal clear water and white beaches. The resort has people working on clearing it every day but there's just no catching up with it. The first couple days wasn't horrible but the days following were filled with the smell of decaying seaweed along the roadways and sides of the beach. They also informed us that it rained before we arrived so the mosquitoes were out in full force. I've never seen mosquitoes like this before! I made my family go indoors around 6 every evening. We also had issues with the bitting flies. The flies loved to attack our shoulders and backs while in the pool. We went through two large cans of deep woods off and skin so soft. It's a week later and in still dealing with itchy bites.

We rented a golf cart for the week and had groceries delivered to us which worked out great.

The owners were very easy to contact and provided us a lot of great information about the island.

It was definitely an adventure getting out there and next time I'd budget to take the hopper plane over instead of wasting time taking all the boats and cars.

This is a perfect spot to visit if you're neededing to get away from it all and have a restful trip. This would even be great for honeymooners or someone wanting to get reading done. The casita was perfect, the owners were great, and the staff was amazing. We even forgot my husbands watch at the house and the owner is being nice and going out of his way to mail it back to us. It's really great having an experience with such nice people. Thank you for our adventure!

Very clean and well maintained property.

  • 4 of 5

The owners pride in this property shows at every turn. We were welcomed in by the very friendly and ever helpful staff at the Sapphire Beach Resort. They made sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The communication prior to our arrival was very helpful with planning and arrival information. The communication was seem less whether it was from the owner or the resort staff.

I was most impressed with the restaurant and pool bar staff. The quality of the food prepared by the restaurant was unbelievable. We spent some very entertaining evenings at the pool side bar with other resort guest as well as condo owners. The condo owners and the staff always made you feel as if you were an owner yourself and not just renting a place for the weekend.

My wife and myself will stay at the Sapphire Beach Resort again, and we recommend the resort to any and everyone that is looking for a quiet beach for a little rest and relaxation.

Thank You

Mack Mann
