About the property

1 bedroom, 1 bathroom Casita on working ranch with Mountain Views

Located less than 20 miles from El Paso and 25 miles from Las Cruces, this piece of high desert paradise is offered for rent to a select few. Included in the rental will be access to a Natural National Landmark. Called KILBOURNE HOLE, it’s a very special place. Look it up on Google. Trees surround the entire home, along with desert landscaping. Handmade yucca window shutters, and a fenced in yard complete the home. You can BBQ or sit on the porch and enjoy the clean fresh high desert air.

There's a full kitchen, washer & dryer available and back porch..

Privacy and solitude are enjoyed here. We have a 12 mile dirt road to the Ranch that is owned by the County and maintained by them. Yet we are close enough for shopping and exploring the Rio Grande Valley, El Paso and Las Cruces. The south part of the ranch is near Mexico, but we reside in the northern section. Perfect place for folks who want to escape the icy winters of the north.

We have a 12 mile dirt road to the ranch which is maintained by the county. For the record, I drove it for 2 years in my Ford Focus. We are about 25 minutes from West Side El Paso for shopping, Walmarts, Home Depots, restaurants and everything else a city has. But when you are on the ranch you are completely away from the city lights and noise and traffic. Very peaceful here.

It is attached like a duplex.

Off the beaten track

  • 4 of 5

This was basically a 4 spacious room house with full bath. The pluses were sunny skies, excellent bed, water and satellite service, full kitchen and wildlife. The minuses were bumpy dirt roads , a noisy heating system and mediocre internet (as expected). It was 40 minutes to an excellent Mexican restaurant and close to an hour to El Paso or Las Cruces. You planned your trips accordingly. We stayed over six weeks and don't regret it.

Quiet and beautiful property. An amazinz experience in New Mexico desert .

  • 5 of 5

The owners are amazing. We enjoyed a lot to spend ranch experience: we learnt a lot about ranch, we rided horses with cowboys. The owners leave on the same property and we enjoyed the 4th of July with them. I recommend to go. They drove us to a previous volcano. Don't be afraid by the dirt road, we had no problemwith a van. Thank you so much to the owners and workers. We will definitely come back.

Owner's Response: Thank you very very much for your kind words. We can only hope that others will take note and follow. While we ordinarily do not allow folks to ride, your "girls" were much too persuasive and my men forgot themselves. lol. Your French / English is quite appropriate my men are still yapping about your visit. So please do come back. Donna and Chip

If you would like to experience the real New Mexico this is the place for you to be. We stayed here for three months and would like to have stayed longer if possible. The owners would do anything to make us comfortable.

A Hidden Gem in the Desert!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, son and I spent a wonderful 3 nights in a charming casita on an actual ranch in the desert. We so enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and comfort after returning from sightseeing and dining out. Our hosts were most gracious and accommodating with helpful advice on places to see and things to do in the area. We were welcome to explore the grounds and see the animals. We highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone seeking a one of a kind vacation experience!

We are a ranch located between El Paso and Las Cruces and far enougn out to see the stars uninterrupted by city lights, but close enough to easily drive into town to sight see, shop and dine at restaurants. On the ranch is the National Monument Kilbourne Hole a favorite of geologists and a wonderful sight. Close to the Rio Grande Valley and it's wine growers and wine tasting shops. Also close by is the Sunland Park Casino and Racetrack. Rich in western and Hispanic Culture is evident in the local cuisine, art and events. A unique mix of cultures to enjoy.

For some reason this site shows we can accommodate 12 guests, but this house is for two people only. We do have a sofa bed however that could be used for 2 more guests.
