Overview

About the property

Our property is a century old barn that has been meticulously restored. The central portion of the home offers a rustic sitting area, kitchen, separate men's and women's restrooms and a laundry. The loft has been converted into a dormitory style bedroom with a king bed and four twins. A large family room is attached with a breathtaking 270 degree view of the property.

Cable TV, Wi-Fi and air conditioning have all been added. A charcoal grill and picnic tables are on site for outdoor grilling. An attached finished two car garage is attached for sheltered outdoor dining in case of rain.

The grounds are beautiful and feature an abundance of wildlife. Eagles, deer, herons and mink are commonly seen. Ohio's legendary Cold Creek, which originates upstream at the "Blue Hole," meanders through the property. A walk along the stream will reveal trout rising to insects floating on the surface.

While the setting is truly rustic, the home is less than 15 minutes from Cedar Point, Kalahari, Lake Erie Island ferry service, local wineries and downtown Sandusky.

Maximum allowable occupancy is six. Groups larger than six will need to get pre-approval from the owner. A second home is on the property for groups that need additional lodging. Check out VRBO#699036.

Amazing retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this wonderful place to stay in over the weekend of our son's wedding in Sandusky. We couldn't believe HOW nice everything was. We'd read the reviews, saw the online pictures, but it really doesn't do it justice. Doug was so gracious to us. Because the days before we came and after we were to check out were not booked, he generously let us come early and stay past the check out. He even stopped in to say hello and to see if everything was satisfactory! The house was warm and inviting, comfortable, luxurious, close to nature, easy drive to attractions, spacious, beds were comfortable, spotlessly clean everywhere, nicely furnished kitchen,... just absolutely beautiful. The grounds were park-like. Just a short walk up to the clubhouse were some of the most fantastic grounds we've seen. Ponds, gardens, streams, trees and flowers. This is much more than a "cabin". It felt like a lodge, but even better than that. We'll definitely go back... many more times hopefully. Doug; we can't thank you enough for what you've provided for us during such a special time.

Relaxing, beautiful property!

  • 5 of 5

The owner was so accommodating with our early arrival. Such a beautiful property overall...B&B, cabin we stayed in, and a home for rent as well. It sits on a beautiful spring fed stream with trout. The cabin sits near two fields that provide a beautiful and relaxing view. Saw many dear and birds. If you have trouble with steps all the beds are upstairs in the loft. Loft with four twin beds and a king size bed is open dorm style sleeping. The sun room is soooo lovely. I quilted all the time we stayed there. Plenty of room to work on big projects. Just loved it there!

We are located within 15 minutes of Cedar Point, 5 different water amusement parks, the Lake Erie Islands & ferry service, multiple wineries and restaurants. Lake Erie sport fishing, boating, public beaches, state parks and wildlife preserves are minutes away. Edison's birthplace, Hayes Presidential museum and many other historic locations are within a 30 minute drive.

The home is situated on a leased farmland with 130 acres of crops, meadows, woodlands and streams. Abundant opportunities exist for hiking, bird watching and wildlife viewing on the property. Two miles of privately stocked stream is available for fly fishing for trout at an additional expense.
