Bigfork House Rental Photos and Description

3 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath home with the river and mountain views

Why be close to the river, when you can stay right on the river? Only 5 miles from the charming Bigfork downtown, our spacious 3 bedroom home includes a wrap-around deck facing the river, a two story living room, vaulted ceilings, wood floors, two master bedroom suites, large well-stocked kitchen, a dining area looking out at the river, a dinette area looking out at the pond and the mountains, and a barbecue on the deck.

We have a dock to fish off of and a large yard only 8' above the river - easy to get your kayaks and canoes in and out. We include a couple of kayaks, and a canoe for your use on the Swan River. Lots of parking - bring your boat and head out to Flathead Lake or Swan Lake only a few miles away - or if it is a small fishing boat, you can put it right on the Swan River and tie it to our dock.

One master bedroom has a queen bed with a one-of-a-kind slab pine bedhead, deep tub, steam shower, and walk-in closet, the 2nd master bedroom and bath is the 2nd floor exclusively with a king bed and large walk-in shower. The 3rd bedroom has a queen bed. The 3rd bath also has a walk-in shower. A half bath is off the kitchen. We have 2 single foam pads if you need them for kids. We also have a large 'smart' TV in the living room, and a gas fireplace. We are pet friendly and have a dog run. Oh, did I mention we have a few bicycles to ride around the neighborhood?

Whitetail deer tend to wander through our property and it is not uncommon to have a bald eagle or horned owl land in our trees. Bring your binoculars to view the geese, swans, mallards, buffleheads, golden eyes, and muskrats right out front. Bring your marshmallows for the fire pit off the deck. Better bring your cameras too.

Please note - Flathead County will only allow monthly rentals. Please read comments from other guests (although note - most of them stayed in our home weekly which is no longer allowed). A reservation must be booked for no less than 30 days. I have lower rates in the winter if you would like to stay 60 days or more. If you only want to come for one month this winter (holidays, March, etc) the rate is $3000/month.

About Alice Leeper

Larry and I started out as ski bums - in fact, we met up skiing one day 42 years ago. Slowly we became responsible with careers as a general contractor and a tour guide/property manager/realtor. Our 3 children and spouses and darling granddaughters love the out-of-doors and like to keep active (so we have to entice them to come and visit us). We love buying properties in beautiful areas, fixing them up, furnishing them, and sharing them with others. Let us know if you are interested in Ouray, Colorado and/or Maui, Hawaii.

Alice Leeper purchased this house in 2014

Why Alice Leeper chose Flathead Lake

Larry and I lived our first 20 years in Aspen, Colorado, the next 20 years in Ouray, Colorado (both beautiful mountain communities) and always had a desire to live on a beautiful river. After visiting the Flathead Lake area for the past 10 years, we found the perfect property right on the Swan River. We still have easy access to hike in the beautiful mountains around here and in Glacier National Park. I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

Kayak, fish, swim, canoe, take pictures, watch wildlife right from our wonderful home.

VACATION IN PARADISE

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I, along with two other couples, just spent a vacation in paradise. This home is not to be believed. Situated immediately on the beautiful Swan river, on a spacious lot with huge decks, it could not have been more ideal. The entire property is magnificent, from the spacious, beautifully decorated interior to the new deck overlooking the river. Kayaks and canoes were available for floats on the river, and a BBQ drew us onto the decks for dinner in the evening. Everything was clean and fresh, and the beds were comfortable! It was just perfect for three couples. We have stayed in several VRBO properties (we even own one) and this is by far the best we have ever rented. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!! Thank you, Alice and Larry!

Fabulous relaxed riverfront setting

  • 5 of 5

This riverfront property is fabulous! We enjoyed our relaxing week in a stunning setting with more than adequate amenities. We took long walks and kayaked the river enjoying all of the wildlife. This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this property and can't wait to again.

gorgeous, relaxing views everywhere!

  • 5 of 5

The property was spacious and private. The views were breathtaking from every angle in the house. We have been spending summertime in the Flathead Valley for many years and this was the first time we stayed on the Swan River. The lake is beautiful but often your activities are dictated by the weather. The Leeper house is on such a slow and smooth part of the river that you can still kayak in the light rain or not worry about a big storm whipping up while you are out on the water.

The house is separated perfectly for 3 couples but the bedrooms are large enough so that if you need little ones close by, you can use the 2 extra mattresses. The home was well equipped with everything we needed. We even left 4 large floating tubes from Costco to add to the 2 kayaks and 2 canoes they provide.

The home is beautiful but we spent most of our time outside. Bring your camera and do NOT be afraid to get in the kayak and go up the river and around the bend at sunset. I have been to Glacier many times, Hiked my favorite, Jewel Basin almost every year but the breathtaking views at sunset from that river sold us! We are coming back for sure!!

Beautiful River House

  • 5 of 5

This house was beautiful. It was everything I expected and more. The kitchen is fully stocked with kitchen ware with a nice BBQ in the back with a small fire pit. We ate outside almost every night and even used the heating lamps a few of the nights. The river in the back was picturesque with small swallows flying all long the river and all the neighbors were absolutely delightful. This house made me fall in love with Montana again and again. I highly recommend staying here.

Amazing Time on the River

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our time staying at this beautiful home on the Swan River. The home was exactly as shown in the pictures, the only thing that couldn't be conveyed in pictures was the peaceful and serene atmosphere that was present every day we were there. After 5 nights we didn't want to leave and are already planning our visit for next year. Thank you Alice for sharing your home with us!

Fabulous Riverfront home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary at this riverfront house. We spent 6 glorious days enjoying the decks, the river, quiet privacy and the wildlife. The house is absolutely fabulous, clean & well stocked. We enjoyed breakfast on the back deck and walks in the area daily. We took a tour up the river in the canoe and were able to see lots of ducks, deer & bald eagles. It is close to Bigfork and a beautiful drive to Glacier. We have visited Montana several times in the last few years to visit family and always rented a house on the lake but this is by far the best place we have stayed. We can not wait to go back with our boys!!!!!!
