Beautiful and relaxing!
We very much enjoyed our anniversary weekend stay. The home and property are are truly beautiful and the owners are lovely people. Sitting on the deck or in the living area was so serene. The attention to detail was remarkable and they were so thoughtful in not only acknowledging our anniversary, but Mother's Day as well. My husband enjoyed catching fish off the deck while I relaxed reading and listening to the babbling water and the rest of nature. I saw the most beautiful bluest bird I had ever seen and the garden pathways were lovely in sight & smell. The home was clean and had all we needed to prepare our meals. We hope to visit again soon.
Amazingly Serene and Peaceful Getaway Home Away From Home.
We were looking for a private getaway to celebrate 32 years of marriage and this home could not have fit the bill any better. As we drove through the private gate entrance we had huge smiles upon our faces. It is a gorgeous property with huge trees and landscaped features and plenty of natural settings surround an open meadow for walking. We were greeted by the owners Roland & Becky and their dogs Skyla and Cooper in tow. As the Otts showed us around the house we were very impressed with the amount of detail that they've placed inside this home. I say home with the utmost sincerity because my wife and I felt completely comfortable and "at home". There is a huge wrap around deck that overlooks the river where we spent much of our time sipping coffee in the mornings and grilling in the evenings or just relaxing. We were amazed that everything we needed for our stay was inside the house, it was completely furnished with all a person could need. While spending our time there we felt completely secluded whether inside or out sitting on the deck listening to the river waters run past us. However the Otts were close by and quick to respond with any thing we might have needed or had questions about.
Mena is not far away if you wish to go into town for a meal or stop at any of merchants for supplies or information although Roland & Becky keep a large source of information inside the house for things to do in the area if you wish to explore the Ouachita National Forest. We recommend driving up to Queen Wilhelmina State Park through the Talimena National Scenic Byway, you won't be disappointed. We also took a canoe trip down the Ouachita River which was very fun and beautiful.
As a cyclist I highly recommend the area if you enjoy riding gravel roads with almost no traffic. Mountain bikes and mixed surface gravel bikes work great out here. I was able to explore the area by bicycle with it's challenging terrain, lots of hills as one would expect. While I rode my bike my wife was happy to sit out on the beautiful deck and read a book or just enjoy the wildlife and scenery this home has to offer.
As it was time for us to leave my wife and I both were sad to depart such a beautiful place and could have stayed much longer if our time was available to do so.
You won't find nicer more genuine people than Roland & Becky and we were grateful for their hospitality and kindness. Book a stay with these fine hosts at their wonderful and beautiful getaway.
Thank you for a great weekend! The Glass House is so much more than what we expected. Every detail was thought of. House was clean and neat. Very much enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again soon!
Roland and Becky’s place in Mena was the nicest VRBO we have ever stayed in!
This was a home not a rental. You can tell how much the Otts care if you are happy during your stay. The property is immaculate and well maintained The grounds are beautiful. My husband can’t wait to come back!
remote and secluded
the lodging is a reserve and a place where nature exists all around you. quiet and clean with all the comforts of home and the owners are great hosts and readily available with suggestions and recommendations.
Very Peaceful Setting!
We enjoyed every minute of the cabin. Everything was perfect. Loved that it was right on the water. My boys loved it to along with my husband. And thanks for the cookies that were awaiting us when we got there. We couldn’t have asked for a better get away place. This vacation was so needed for my family. And the cabin was superb. If we are ever in the area again. We will come back. This felt like a home away from home. Thanks for everything. And the dogs were so friendly. And I loved sitting on the porch and listening to the birds chirping. . We got to see a family of deer at the end of the drive. And all the beautiful flowers that surrounded the cabin. Thanks so much for a great stay!!
