Please be aware! This house is a health hazard and the owner doesn’t want to take responsibility for it. The house is outdated and has an odd smell to it. The rooms looked clean at first, but if you look in every corner and under the furniture no one has cleaned there for ages. The refrigerator had cracked drawers with tape holding them together; there is no umbrella (which was a selling point for me). My daughter found a face mask under the furniture. Every door is covered with dust. But, this is not why I left the same day I arrived.As soon as it got dark, the house was filled with crickets. We found 2 scorpions by the front door. I pushed them out of the door with the broom. At 1 am I heard my daughter screaming. I ran to the bedroom and I saw my daughter sitting on the bed looking at the ceiling vent right above the bed and a huge scorpion was coming out of it. I pulled my daughter off the bed, packed my things, wrote an email to the owner that her house was infested with scorpions, asked for a refund and left. The next day I received an email:“Unfortunately I cannot do anything regarding the bugs, we have the home sprayed every few months. I have not had anyone else complain and we do rent our home out quite a bit." So she refunded to me less than half of what I paid. And I didn't stay there the 1st night.After arguing with her all day and sending some pictures of a scorpion, she refunded to me everything except the cleaning fee with the message: "I am being more than fair. My house was cleaned and inspected before your arrival. I cannot control the insects that make their way in when doors and sliders are left open. Unfortunately there where guest that left prior to your arrival." So, she decided to make me pay for her cleaning people not doing their job, for previous guests opening the doors and for the poor pest control service she has. I rent houses twice a year, every year. I never complained before and I never asked for a refund. I’m still looking at my vents and floor at home. (thinking that something will crawl out!). I really hoped that the owner would understand the terrible experience we had in her house, refund the money and take care of the scorpion problem. Instead she needed to consult with others on how to make an extra dollar before she issued a partial refund. I hope she can sleep well after this.
