About this property

Gorgeous seaside bungalow (max 11 night stay preferred)

This is a gorgeous new private bungalow. There is the main owner house on the property with this being the only bungalow, and which is down at the water. It has a very comfortable king bed with mosquito net, lovely linen, fully operational and functional kitchen, a seating area, a deck with chairs and a hammock. Lots of open space to relax. The property is just 10 minutes from the airport and about 20 minutes into town. The owners live on the property and are available to make your stay as beautiful as possible. Lots of local bus taxis into town or hitch a ride with a friendly local or the owners! Vanuatu is so beautiful and undeveloped. Lots of places to go for gorgeous walks, either down the interesting Devils Point Road or up the summit, to enjoy a fantastic view over Mele Bay. You have Mele Cascades and Jungle Zipline within 5 minutes and the Beach Bar and Hideaway Island close by. There is the most beautiful coral reef at the bottom of the garden. The bungalow is finished with traditional Natangura leaf, which is very special. Our refreshing swimming pool is just in front of your bungalow.

This is a truly magical place to relax and recharge! Booking Lydia and Dave’s place was motivated by the lovely photos and appealing price point, but the reality was above and beyond my expectations. This adorable, self-contained cottage and patio has a prime position looking out over the swimming pool and ocean, which ensures fabulous views every day and lots of space to relax and enjoy the beautiful view. Listening to birdsong and enjoying the lush vegetation was a highlight of every morning. Snorkeling is possible just in front of the bungalow during the right conditions, and there are kayaks for use. If you feel energetic, Devil’s Point Road and the nearby hills offer some walking options; there is also a beach close by.

What are our fond memories of our stay at Villa Ducula . the vista from our balcony overlooking Mele Bay . the cooling South Easterly breezes . the snorkelling on the reef at the doorstep . an excellent restaurant next door . an easy trip to Port Vila by bus . beautiful garden surrounds . the gentle sounds of the waves breaking over the coral as you drift off to sleep . a very welcoming host, where nothing was too much trouble . the tropical fruits growing on the property were the highlight of our breakfast . the obliging Ni Vanuatu gardener on the property who delighted in coming to our door with fresh coconuts and pawpaw . can't think of any negatives, it was a most enjoyable and relaxing three weeks

This is a very nice property and Lydia is the ultimate hostess. The resort next door has consistantly good food should you not wish to get some bits from the market and look after yourself. The big downside for us was that the wind blew straight in on us all day for our eight day stay and were not able to use our lovely deck or the hammocks, loungers etc or enjoy the snorkelling that everyone says is so wonderful there. Of course nobody is to blame for unfortunate weather but it certainly took the shine off an otherwise delightful stay.

Lydia`s Bungalow would have to be the best location for snorkelling in Port Villa and surrounding area. The Bungalow is excellent with everything you could possibly need for a great holiday Tranquility and nature abounds Best Hostess ever - I mean the best ! I would have to suggest to anyone who was considering visiting Vanuatu make a stay at Villaducula a must. The locals are excellent and very friendly and willing to help in any way. Excellent - Well done Lydia .

Beautiful ocean front bungalow!

A fantastic place to stay. Lydia and Dave are very friendly and helpful. The villa is well designed with en-suite and a small kitchenette. Location is excellent if you enjoy relaxing peace and quiet. It is close to Port Vila (10 minutes) to drive in or catch a bus out the front. I would definitely go back to Villa Ducula!

We are retired and live permanently in Vanuatu. We love having visitors and showing them around but we understand the need for privacy and time out which people sometimes want. We spend our time looking after our tourist bungalow, maintaining the property and dedicating time and resources to the local animal welfare association. We do weekly visits to villages to assess animals and arrange dogs and cats for sterilisation. We are passionate animal lovers. We have two island dogs of our own.

Why they chose this property

Its not a resort accommodation, it's on its own, the only bungalow on the property where the owner's house is too. The bungalow is completely private.

What makes this property unique

Close to both airport and town but without the hustle and bustle of Port Vila! After exploring the village and town markets, an "ahhh"place to come home to after a hectic day out. The property is new so its fresh with lovely linen and finishings.
