Come visit our secluded beachside A-frame, nestled in the deep water cove on the north end of Filucy Bay!

Situated at the water's edge of a 2.79 acre property, our beautiful 2 bedroom home offers comfortable furnishings, plenty of outdoor entertaining space, and easy access to the shops, restaurants and activities of Gig Harbor. Nicely updated and improved, the house is cozy, yet bright and open, boasting views from every room.

Stella Maris offers that elusive opportunity to slow life down and relax. Breathe in the fresh Puget Sound air. Close your eyes and listen to the waves lapping and rippling over pebbles and clams. Open them again and watch the spiraling flight of seagulls hunting for breakfast, the playful antics of sea otters or perhaps, if you're lucky, even a bald eagle. Read that book you keep meaning to pick up, or choose one of ours.

Perfect for families or romantic getaways, Stella Maris at once provides quiet seclusion and a gateway to local wineries, restaurants, family farms, state parks, golf, boating and more.

Tour an underwater submarine or try Anthony's Homeport famous clam chowder in Bremerton. Ride the iconic Puget Sound ferries to Seattle, visit the myriad museums of Tacoma, or take a hike in the Olympic National Rain Forest. Day-trip to the nearby Lavendar Farm or cross the Narrows Bridge to watch our Triple-A baseball home team, the Rainiers, play an afternoon game at the beautifully renovated Cheney Stadium. Please see the "Location" tab for more day trip ideas.

Or, you can always just stay in and use our kayaks to explore Filucy Bay, hunt for sea creatures and take in the quiet nature.

At the end of the day, gather round the patio campfire for roasted s'mores or a glass of Trillium Creek wine and enjoy your perfect slice of the incomparable Pacific Northwest.

~ While we have a 2 night minimum stay we HIGHLY recommend booking for three nights or more if your travel plans allow. Stella Maris truly is a special place and frequently we have guests request to extend their stay. While we love accommodating when it is possible often we have back to back bookings and cannot offer more time.

~ Please note that we have an 8 person maximum. This is both because that is the number of people who can comfortably sleep at Stella Maris but also so that we can preserve the quiet nature of the area. We have included a $200/person/night additional charge option. This is for guests who REALLY want that extra guest but also as a penalty in the event an extra body accidentally ended up in the suitcase.

About Caitlin Coleman-Hulbert

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, we have enjoyed the good fortune to travel the world through work and studies, but we always find our hearts drawn back. Now parents to three of our own beautiful children, Caitlin is taking a break from her careers in winemaking and environmental science to be a full-time mom, while Jeff continues to pursue his work and passion in professional yacht racing.

Why Caitlin Coleman-Hulbert chose Longbranch

We have traveled far and wide and know that nowhere else in the world quite compares to the Pacific Northwest. It is at once serene and majestic and mysterious and beautiful. Our hearts are at home here and we will always return. We really feel that Stella Maris is a special place. Our little cove here on Filucy Bay is an almost immaculate slice of life on the Puget Sound. We are so excited to share it with you and hope you are as enchanted by it as we are.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Had a wonderful afternoon hanging out- We kayaked to the end of Filucy Bay- Great view of Rainier around the corner and we loved listening to the birds. We cooked up some cod on the BBQ. We cannot wait to come back! What a beautiful place!

Beautiful retreat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful time exploring the Puget Sound. Our kids loved to kayak and sit at the outdoor fireplace each night. Thank you for sharing this beautiful home with us.

Beautifully appointed natural gem

  • 5 of 5

Stella Maris is out of the way, but once you get there - you don't have to leave, and you don't want to. Every convenience (down to a generous provision of celebratory champagne, and the makings of s'mores) is provided for, and the selection of two masters with gorgeous ensuites - one quieter and darker, and one open to the sun and loft, means that guests can choose the best room for their needs. We were out every night to watch the bay and enjoy the fire, and we grilled and cooked very cheerfully as a crew together. The weather was glorious and the full house A/C felt almost like cheating, it was so easy to get comfortable when it was too hot. We also met Chester the friendly neighbourhood beach dog, who will catch a stick as many times as you're willing to throw it, and learned that if you try to examine crabs in the bay at too low a tide, there's actually such a thing as quicksand. All in all, a wonderful house with wonderful, responsive, and helpful hosts. Thanks again!

Fantastic house

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Caitlin for the wonderful stay at the Stella Marris house! The house is fantastic and we really appreciated the fully appointed kitchen and the beautiful view of the bay. The house itself is even nicer than the photos show and everything was extremely clean and well stocked. The house was also kid friendly with toys and books for children that my nephew enjoyed. Our family went clamming and oystering at the nearby Pen Rose Point State Park, which I highly recommend for anyone planning a springtime stay at Stella Marris.

Thought I woke up in Heaven!!!

  • 5 of 5

This place was amazing. The house both inside and out is just as described or better. The view from the master bedroom is amazing. Nice and private. Wish we could have stayed longer. Hope to return in the future. We left something behind and was notified the same day we left. We were able to call the care taker and she mail our missing item to out home. Such honest and kind service is incredible. Thank you so very much.

Car: necessary

Ocean Shores- 2.5 hours from Stella Maris. I'd check the weather before you went as it can be variable on the coast but an open ocean adventure may be very fun!

Mt. Rainer- 2 hours from Stella Maris.

Along the way maybe visit Northwest Trek, 1.5 hours from Stella Maris.

Here is the website for the Olympic Peninsula, the Olympia National Park visitor center in Port Angeles 2 hours from Stella Maris. I have no idea how you would pick just one day worth of exploring in this area! I love hot springs so would be sure to explore one or two or more of them :)

Hood Canal is a great option, an hour or so from Stella Maris, is gorgeous. Check out their "things to do" and "events" on the website.

Gig Harbor, 34 minutes from Stella Maris. Check out the calendar for events while you are there, looks like Tuesday music in the park, Thursday has a concert series, art walk, and farmers market...

Leavenworth, Washington is adorable... and Bavarian. It's about 3 hours from Stella Maris.

And Crystal Mountain, about 2hrs 15minutes from Stella Maris.

I would be sure to spend a day locally on the Key Peninsula:

I'd start at Ravensara for a coffee and a freshly baked goody.

I'd find either Penrose Point State Park or Joemma Beach State Park for a hike and some beach combing.

Next I'd visit the Blue Willow Lavender farm- 16 minutes from Stella Maris and would love to take a lavender wreath making class. Note their hours as they aren't always open.

Vineyard tour and wine taste with Claude and Claudia of Trillium Creek Winery would be next followed by a visit to the Lake Bay Marina, 4 miles/7 minutes from Stella Maris. Below is their website, complete with a menu to their cafe which is open 7 days a week.

Other thoughts include the Point Defiance Zoo, wild waves, try your hand at a casino, I love the Bremerton ferry to Seattle idea and/or the Port Angeles to Victoria idea, and, of course, I'd recommend some downtime at Stella Maris! We all need a minute to rest and restore in our lives!
