About this property

Charming Beaches Century House, Steps to the Beach & Shops, Downtown in 10 min!

Attention tourists and visitors! Here you get the best of both worlds! Whether you are single or a family with young children, our house in "the Beaches" lets you enjoy your visit in a relaxed, quaint community by the waterfront, in our part of town where the locals do everything they need to on foot, where you can keep entertained for days with outings to the Beach, festivals, shops, restaurants, bars and cafes galore. Then, in a matter of minutes you could be in the hustle and bustle of downtown Toronto, experiencing a cosmopolitain city, world class arts venues such as the Four Seasons Center for the Performing Arts (opera), restaurants and shopping for any taste and entertainment options that appreciate the diversity of our great City of Toronto!

Our charming beach cottage is situated in the heart of the Beaches. At your doorstep is bustling Queen Street East and the many shops, cafes, restaurants and bars it offers, the Beach, and public transit. Our cozy home is a great place to unwind daily! You are welcomed to our home by our large porch, with a sleek and stylish outdoor set of chairs and coffee table. Our front door is a 100 year old wooden door with a glass window - very charming! We have a mudroom, where you can neatly store shoes and coats. You enter our beautiful home with a foyer that has a large living room to the left and a dining room to the right. The stairs leading to the 2nd floor are straight ahead, with the kitchen to the right, and the laundry room adjacent. Our home has a very large garden in the backyard with a few oak trees that are over 200 years old to offer you summer sun coverage. We have a 400+ square foot deck that has a sectional outdoor couch and a dining set with umbrella to very comfortably seat 6 when dining. It is a mini oasis in the bustling city! Upstairs there are 2 large bedrooms, with one side room that is off limits (we keep our personal items stored here). One room has a queen sized bed, and windows; the other a double bed and windows. Our house has 1 powder room (toilet and sink, downstairs) and a full 3 piece washroom upstairs (bath&shower, sink and toilet). The basement is off limits - and not much to see down there as it is mainly storage. Our laundry room has a large washer and dryer.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS: For sleeping 6, we have 2 large bedrooms upstairs on the second floor. There is 2 QUEEN SIZE BED, comfortably sleeping 2 adults (note one picture shows a toddler bed; actual bed upon arrival will be a Queen Sized bed that comfortably sleeps 2 adults). This room also has a toddler bed. The second bedroom has a double bed that sleeps 2. The living room on the main floor is transformed into a bedroom at night by using the couch and drawing curtains to separate the room for privacy. This sofa can sleep 1 adult. For an additional 2 people, a blow up mattress can be inflated in the living room to sleep additional 2, for a total of 7 persons maximum in the house.

The kitchen has a fridge, gas stove, dishwasher, sink and the cupboards are stacked with cups, glasses, plates, utensils, pots, pans, spices, etc, to make a fabulous home cooked meal. If you run out of groceries, the nearest grocery stores are 1 block away, open to 8pm and 9pm, respectively, and only a 2 minute walk away by foot! Larger supermarkets are within 4 km of our house and can be accessed by car or public transportation.

Downtown Toronto is a short 10 minute cab ride away. If you prefer to take public transportation, hop on the street car at Queen and Lee (a block away), and you can watch the scenery and the changing neighbourhoods as you move westbound towards downtown Toronto, passing Leslieville, South Riverdale, Corktown, Moss Park, Old Town before arriving at the Eaton Centre and City Hall! You can continue further along Queen west to Queen West shops, Chinatown and then hip West Queen West! Note the nearest subway is Woodbine Station, which takes you to central Bloor/Yonge Station in 15 minutes!

We offer Free WIFI (highspeed) for basic emailing and web surfing but not for downloading or uploading large files or gaming! We offer a Netflix and Amazon Prime TV on our flat screen TV in the living room for your enjoyment! Thank you for your cooperation!

Disclosure: During the year, our domestic short haired tabi cats live with our family. When we rent out our home during the summer, our cats are moved to family, and our house is detailed (deep cleaned) to remove any evidence of pets. Our guests would not know cats live here during the year. However for anyone with extreme allergies, we chose to disclose this to allow them to decide.

The Beaches neighborhood is a great base camp for touring Toronto
This house is in the heart of the Beaches neighborhood. The jazz festival in the neighborhood is a great event! Walking to the lake and the local restaurants adds a homey feel. Although the website advertises that this home holds 8 people, there is one queen bed, one double bed, one couch, and one blow-up bed, so plan accordingly!

Great Toronto location
The owners have a lovely home with friendly neighbors and a prime location. There are many great restaurant and beach recreation options within walking distance, and the streetcar ride downtown is easy and convenient.

Family Toronto Holiday
The house was in an ideal location for a family holiday, close to the beach and park area, plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants. Just a short streetcar ride to the centre of the City. The house was well equipped apart from a TV which we soon got used to. It would have been good to have access to some form of music system. The owners were great and provided their local knowledge and were always on hand if needed.

Awesome
This is a lovely place in a great location! All you need for a super vacation at the beach and minutes away from city center. We could not have picked a better place for a weekend in Toronto for us and the kids. Perfect service, perfectly equipped house, beautiful garden loaded with toys for the kids,... you name it and it was available. Owners put their heart into the house and you can just feel that the minute you arrive.

My husband, daughter and I reside in this home! Beachers work and live in the neighbourhood; once you are a Beacher you never want to leave! It is a pleasant little community with a very friendly vibe. I work in Finance and my husband works for the Board of Education. We like to travel a lot, like good restaurants, a good book and try to maintain an active lifestyle, which is all easy when you live in the Beach!

Why they chose this property

1890 charming old Toronto cottage in the heart of The Beach, a coveted neighbourhood to live in Toronto, for families and single people alike. It is away from the big city but close enough to be there in 10 minutes. It is beautiful, the beach is close by, the strip has a lot to do (Queen St. E), the houses and neighbourhood is charming.

What makes this property unique

The Lake is at your doorstep with a bike path/walk path (The Martin Goodman Train) that stretches over 10 km along the lake! The beach itself is sandy and a great place for kids to make sandcastles and even swim in (you can check the daily lake water quality for swimming at Many people come for day trips to sun tan and have a picnic on the beach or at the Beaches Park. Queen Street East is bustling with shops, restaurants, bars and cafes to suit anyones taste! Restaurants vary from vegan organic cafes like Tori's Bakeshop to Hogtown Smoke where you can get the best pulled pork sammie in town! Don't forget to try Eds Scoop for the best icecream in town after dinner (sorry about the long lineups)! Festivals are happening all summer long in the Beach from the famous Beaches Jazz Festival in July to Shakespear in the Park plays in June, and many more including craft shows! The farmer's market comes to the Beach every summer for fresh, local produce. All this to say there is a lot to see and do in the Beaches neighbourhood to keep you entertained! And if this is not enough, a quick 10 minute cab ride will take you into the heart of Downtown Toronto where you can do even more!
