About this property

SPRINGHOUSE 1803 - UNIQUE HISTORIC HOME

If you are looking for a unique place to stay, come stay at Springhouse 1803. The restoration is in the final phases and this beautiful home is ready for life again after sitting empty for 20+ years.

FALL 2023 - We are currently scraping, power washing, sanding the exterior of the house between guests in preparation for a new paint job. So, you'll see some bare wood until she is painted.

IF YOU HAVE MOBILITY ISSUES, THIS IS NOT THE HOUSE FOR YOU. This is a historic colonial house with tight steep stairs and some low doorways and ceilings. Both sets of steps have a corkscrew turn in them. Not recommended for toddlers/young children due to steep steps. Older children should be able to navigate the steps. We are located just outside the city limits but you would never know the city was right around the corner with the solitude of the house. Come sit on the porch and watch the birds and listen to the trickling of water. Sit in the spring room and relax and watch the water bubbling out of the ground. (closed in winter) NOT A PARTY HOUSE, OWNER IS ON SITE
If the house is ready, you can check in at 3pm, please contact me if you wish to check in before 4pm.
If you see blocked days at the beginning and end of a block, you can reach out to confirm if the house is available if you want one of those days. It might be available if the cleaning has already been done.

Downtime
Very quaint, cozy and quiet. Close to everything but tucked just far enough back that you don’t hear noise. The personalized touches were amazing. Owner was very nice. We were able to grill dinner and enjoy a fire pit. The renovations successfully maintain the historic features but include modern conveniences.

Short Weekend Away for Family to Decompress
It was great staying in a historic property. The area was quiet and peaceful for us. It was exactly what we were looking for. The host was great; we left a jacket at the house, and we were able to coordinate picking it up the following weekend. I much appreciated it.

amazing !!!
Beautiful historic home !!! Restoration is complete but doesn't retract from it's charm. Beds were very comfortable. kitchen and bathroom are new and well done. living room is georgeous. Very well appointed. Very cozy and warm. The spring under the house was my favorite part. spring water literally bubbling up gently from the ground. Wee creek emerges from the house into Antietem creek. GREAT value. It's a gem. Hope I get back there soon...

I currently live in Hagerstown, MD, moved out here from Delaware 20+ years ago for my job and fell in love with the area and decided to stay. I dont get to travel too much, but I hope to do more here soon.

Why they chose this property

I have a love of old houses. I came to look at this house on my lunch break thinking I wouldnt like it because the farmhouse is so plain on the outside. Needless to say, I fell in love with the house and the springhouse was an extra bonus. It makes this a great piece of property.

What makes this property unique

The location of this house is great, it's like you're in the country or a small village, but the city of Hagerstown is literally around the corner. Minutes from shopping and downtown Hagerstown
