Why Dr. Ruth Dick chose Salzburg
I used to live in the 3 room apartment and I love it because it is so close to the center (15 walking minutes) but in a quiet residential area, in a small house with altogether 6 apartments, with a private parking place for each in the yard and a small garden in the back. What I also like about my apartments is that they have doors and windows in 3 directions so they are airy and there is almost always sunlight coming in somewhere. There are bus stations not more than 4-5 walking minutes away, still it is quiet, you don't hear the busses. And you can walk to the historical center in 15 minutes through pleasant streets. I also love the tall Magnolia tree in the back yard.

Great place to stay in Salzburg
My wife and I were really pleased with our stay in the apartment. There was plenty of room for us and we could have easily fit a few more and it had a very nice bathroom. Communication with the owner was very timely prior to arrival and during our stay. She left great instructions and good info on Salzburg. Location was good in regards to the center of the city, about a 25 min walk but easy to get to by bus. Plenty of parking at the apartment if you have a rental car. If you like a good beer garden, Augustiner Brau is a 10-15 min walk away. We would certainly stay here again if we came back to Salzburg.
I am very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. I'd love to welcome you back in Salzburg some day. Best wishes, Ruth
Clean, open, easy
This apartment was perfect! We had two couples stay and it was the perfect size for the four of us. It was easy to find and the directions worked very well. The neighborhood was quiet and it was easy to get both to the airport and to the city center on foot (though it was a mile or so in either direction).
I am so happy that you enjoyed our apartment. Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review.
Best wishes, Ruth
Best Apartment Value in Salzburg
Very nice apartment in quiet building and neighborhood. Close to supermarkets, restaurants and only 15min walk to the heart of Salzburg. Stayed here one week and would love to stay hear again on our next visit.
I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay. I am very sorry I could not meet you, hopefully next time. Looking forwards to seeing you back in Salzburg, best wishes, Ruth
Easy, cozy and comfortable!
Our kids kept commenting on how much more relaxing it was to stay in this apartment compared to a hotel. Apartment is about a 15 min walk to the old town with some nice restaurants on the way. The accommodations were not fancy but all the basics were provided and we would easily stay here again if returning to Salzburg.
Good location, close to the city.
The apartment was clean and we had plenty of room for our family of four. The WiFi worked good. It was just a ten minute walk to the city center.
I am very happy that you enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you back in Salzburg some day. Best wishes, Ruth
Excellent Family Apartment in great quaint neighborhood
Apartment was clean and had everything we needed. Location was good: in a quiet neighborhood about a 1 mile to the town area or you can hop the bus. My wife and daughter enjoyed the neighborhood cats (not in the apartment!) and elusive hedgehog. Salzburg was a really neat town. The only thing that was nerve racking was trying to drive around (which we only did to go on some excursions to other towns). Picture what would normally be a one lane one way street in a US city, and well, in Salzburg that is a 2 way road with cars parked on both sides and pedestrians and bicycles zipping around. Also, there will be a large delivery truck with its caboose sticking out halfway into the 4 foot wide street.
I am very happy that you liked the apartment. Regarding the traffic in Salzburg, I am very sorry for the inconvenience. There are a few narrow roads, especially in this area, as this is an old town. At some places, when a car comes from the other side one of them has to wait for the other to pass, but this is rather an exception . I have been driving in Salzburg for 45 years and never had problems with that, may be I am just used to it . I find it much more difficult to drive on the 12 lane freeways in Los Angeles (6 lanes in every direction) . But coming from the US I can imagine this might surprise you and you have to get used to it. In some old cities in Italy the roads are even narrower. They didn't have cars when they built them.
Best wishes, Ruth
The apartments are at Ganshofstrasse 18, close to the historical center, in the part of the city called Max Glan, about 8 minutes driving distance from the airport and from the freeway and about 10 minutes driving distance from the train station.
How to get there: Coming form freeway A 10 EXIT Salzburg Airport, go ahead to the first traffic light, then turn left to the Innsbrucker Bundesstrasse. At the end of Innsbrucker Bundesstrasse turn right to Maxglaner Hauptstrasse. After having passed a small bridge, turn left to Straubingerstrasse. At the end of Straubingerstrasse turn left to Ganshofstrasse. It's the second house on the left side, a light green house. From the airport take either a taxi or bus number 2 to Hans Schmid Platz. Go back about 100 meters until you see a sign 'zum Gasthof zur Einkehr', Before this sign turn right , cross the little bridge and turn right into Ganshofstrasse up to number 18. Or take bus 8 to Glansteg, cross the street,, walk a few meters back, turn right the narrow way and cross the little bridge, then turn right into Ganshofstrasse and walk up to number 18.
Attractions and activities:
within a walking distance of 15-20 minutes you can reach most of Salzburg's main attractions. The Festspielhaus where concerts, operas and theaters are played, the Getreidegasse, a beautiful street in the historical center where you will also find Mozart#s birth place. There is now a museum in that house. The fortress Festung Hohensalzburg from which you have a beautiful view on the city. But my favorite place for a beautiful f view is going up the elevator to the Mönchsberg where the museum of modern art is situated, there you have the nicest view on the old town.. The Dom, Salzburg's biggest church, several other beautiful churches, the old cemetery with its catacombs, the Peter's Keller- which is supposed to be the oldest restaurant in Europe which offers good food and evening concerts with or without dinner. The mirabell garden, on the other side of the river and close by the Marionettentheater, a very artistic puppet theater for adults playing operas by Mozart. You can take a bus to the palace of Hellbrun and watch the water games which are really fun and take your kids to the zoo. Or take your children to the museum of science in the historical center, the 'Haus der Natur' . This just to name some of the most important attractions.
Ski: The closest Ski mountain is the Untersberg in Salzburg. With the car it takes about 15 minutes to get there. There are also busses going there and there is a skibus in winter that takes guests to different ski resorts.
