About Hobert (Hobie) Lawrence

I grew up around the Reelfoot Lake area. Moved up north to work in the steel mills. After retiring, I moved back home.

Hobert (Hobie) Lawrence purchased this house in 1985

Why Hobert (Hobie) Lawrence chose Hornbeak

This property was available about the time of my retirement. It has a wonderful location and the fishing is great.

What makes this house unique

The best sunsets off of the deck. We have had many great times out on the deck with family and friends

Guestbook comments from the owner

My family and I stayed at Hobie's over the holiday week The house is centrally located & very accommodating. We enjoyed grilling outside and spending quality family time out on the huge deck. The daily sunsets were something out of a magazine. We have made reservations to return next year.

Ideal Fisherman and Hunter's lake cabin

  • 5 of 5

This place is so peaceful. The view off the deck is amazing. We rented this place to relax while being at a baseball tournament in Union City. My boys are all hunters and fishermen and loved hanging out on the deck and doing some fishing during the down time of the baseball tournament. It will definitely sleep a lot of bodies and beds were comfy. Kitchen is stocked with minimal necessities - pots/pans, microwave, plates, silverware, coffee pot. Weird set up for bathrooms - 1 shower, 1 sink w/ toilet (located attached to bedroom), 1 full bath. But with boys it works fine. It does have WiFi but not the greatest strength as we had trouble connecting laptops to check in with work, and the signal reaching out to the main living room was weak. But really when you rent this gem it is for the deck view and the lake fishing and hunting opportunities. If we are ever back in the area, we would definitely rent again. Thanks Hobie!

Amazing time! So relaxing and peacful.

  • 5 of 5

We needed a nice place to stay while visiting my soon to be in laws for a few days due to having so many of us coming down. Hobies house was perfect, plenty of room for everyone to sleep and have privacy when needed. The deck was amazing with breath taking views. The pesky bugs were bad at night so bug sprays and candles are a must, the fan on the deck was a great idea to help with those bugs as well.

We made wonderful memories with our combined families. My fiance Nick and I were even able to find time and beautiful areas to have our engagement photos taken. We will be back in October for our Wedding!
