Amazing property

We were looking for a private relaxing stay and we found what we were looking for… the staff were amazing. The meals that were prepared were traditional Oaxacan and were absolutely delicious!

A very relaxing vacation.

It was so relaxing to stay at Casa Doris. The staff are excellent, and it’s great for families like us who don’t like to stay at hotels. The kids loved the pool and the delicious food Marcela cooked. Martin was great, he was very helpful and gave excellent service. The house was always clean, a plus for daily housekeeping. Scott and Sara were great communicators and they helped make our stay very relaxing. A big thank you to Esteban for helping us as well. Highly recommend Casa Doris. My family had a great time, especially the kids. We hope yo be back soon!

Everything was wonderful. The pool and the ocean were a lot of fun. The house was spacious and our caretakers were really good people and Marcella is an excellent cook. Kids agreed best vacation ever.

Wonderful Vacation

The property was amazing. Huge pool, beautiful beach. The best part was the family that takes care of you and the property. Marcella is amazing cook! He oldest son, Martin is very attentive and kind. He even helped us with getting our Covid tests. We all had a very relaxing, amazing stay. I would 100% return! One tip: When flying into Puerto Escondido, make sure you have several hours in between connections. They are almost always running late. We had a very close call!

A great stay in paradise

Four friends and I had an absolutely amazing time at Casa Doris. From the moment we arrived the staff took care of all of our needs. The food Marcella cooked was absolutely incredible and she was super flexible with our requests. Her son Martin made us delicious cocktails and entertained all our questions about the history of the home and his family. We did not realize that May is the hottest time of the year in this region of Mexico, so without A/C in the living area, it was really hot. Maybe adding some additional fans would help, but I definitely wouldn't be deterred from staying here just because of that. You truly have your own little private slice of paradise at Casa Doris and I would highly recommend this property to anyone interested in exploring a more traditional and less commercialized part of Mexico. Thank you Scott, Esteban, Marcella and Martin for making our stay so enjoyable.

Awesome vacation!

Our week at Casa Doris was both adventurous and relaxing! Awesome location about 20 mins south of town. Remote location with a virtually empty beach. Felt very safe with a 24 hour guard gate and staff living on property. My husband and kids are experienced watermen and were able to enjoy powerful headhigh+ waves. For the average swimmer, the waves and currents are too much to handle. The rest of us spent hours in the pool everyday. The staff was excellent and the best part of our time at the house. They were discreet, friendly, and helpful. Maricela's food was delicious and comforting. Martine makes great drinks and always has a smile on his face. Esteban maintains the property and does the shopping as requested. Scott met us upon arrival and made great suggestions for activities and restaurants. We found the house to be clean and comfortable--perfect for our families with kids. It does show some signs of wear and tear, as we expected for this kind of rental. We hope to return to Casa Doris soon!

Amazing Service and Beautiful Location!

We had the most amazing time at Casa Doris! We were a very diverse group, my little family of 4 that included two kids under 10, our best friend couple, and the two Grammys. The house was absolutely incredible! Walking in and seeing the view directly to the beach was breathtaking. Marisella, Martin, and Deanna couldn't have been better. Martin makes a mean margarita and bloody mary! And don't even get my started on Marcella's cooking...Holy cow! You will not go hungry that's for sure! I was so sad to come home because I didn't have Marcella's breakfast gorditas. "Sad face" The rooms were well appointed and comfortable. Our couple friends enjoyed the added privacy of the casita behind the house. The rooms and bathrooms were all clean and well kept. The air conditioning was awesome and much needed after a long day in the sun. I would make sure to bring your own toiletries as only body soap was available. I'm just saying this as all vacation rentals are different. We all had the best time in the pool, it was only about 4 1/2 feet deep throughout so my kids were in heaven! And the temp was perfect. You could just walk right in and enjoy it. My husband didn't have any luck fishing off the beach but he enjoyed having the opportunity to try. The kids loved catching crabs for bait! We went fishing with Ceviche several times and on day 3 we caught a 9ft Blue Marlin! We enjoyed several meals from that catch courtesy of Marisella! 5 out of 5 stars!

You’ll never want to leave!

Beautiful property in a stunning location, amazing staff and excellent service combined for an unforgettable beach-front vacation! We stayed here for 8 nights with 4 other couples and it was the perfect vacation for us. We each had our own private room with ensuite bathroom (all of the suites are nearly identical). The swimming pool is huge with lots of room to either soak up sun or sit in the shade. You can drift along on a “floatie” or swim laps, or evan have people doing both and never feel crowded. The big open palapa area is perfect for hanging out in the evenings and playing games, which we did every night. The 2nd floor palapa is a really cool place to watch the sunset from or just lounge around in. Food was outstanding; freshly prepared meals every day that were colourful, plentiful and especially delicious. We chose our meals for the first couple of days but then told the staff to make whatever they wanted so we didn’t know specifically what was coming and were pleasantly surprised at each meal. 2 of us had special dietary needs and they were very accommodating in this regard. The real highlight of Casa Doris is the staff... they are an amazing family (all except one staff member) that live right on site. Esteban, Maricella, Martin, Jaime, & Antonia were all exceptionally good at their respective roles, although we have to give special thanks to Maricella for all of the delicious food and to Martin who kept the great drinks coming all day, every day (Margaritas, Mojitos, Daquiris, Pina Colada’s, Michelada’s etc.)! Scott (property manager) was great, promptly answering all of our questions before hand, arranging our local transportation, and actually meeting us there on our arrival, which was a pleasant surprise! He introduced us to the staff, gave us a tour around the property and had a little Q&A session with us to make sure we had everything we needed. I can’t think of a single thing that would have made our vacation better, except if we never had to leave!

It was very nice , the staff was excellent, more than helpful and attentive. Just one comment bout the house , it could use some more comfy seating in the shade , and dining on the beach side .

Beautiful large home in paradise

12/2021 Casa Doris is a wonderful home with large rooms, huge pool and ocean front on miles of beach. The staff was very nice and meals were very good but They are not trained to hotel standards. I had to ask for clean towels and for my room to be cleaned. Sometimes this wasn’t even done after I asked. We were a large group and they never tidied up after us. I was straightening towels on chairs and clearing tables every the morning. One big issue I did not know about was that you have to have a lot of cash to pay for food daily and to leave a tip for the staff at the end of the stay. That being said, we had a lovely time.

Serene, beautiful home

The property was beautiful and well-appointed, and sat on a broad stretch of beach with seldom another person in sight. The property was always clean, laundry was done when hampers were filled, and everyone worked with a smile. All of the meals and beverages were delicious, the staff was pleasant and accommodating to every need. Communications due to my limited Spanish and the limited English of most of the staff were overcome with patience and good humor. Scott dropped by on several occasions to make certain that every need was addressed. The only real negative was that mosquitoes descended at dinner time, so a good repellent is mandatory then. The city is pleasant, as were the people. I look forward to returning to Casa Doris and exploring more of Oaxaca.
