I want to start by saying this is not my first time to Carlton landing. I’ve even stayed in this same home before and it was great. Unfortunately, this time we had several issues. The main issue was my daughter was woken up at 3:00am (on her BIRTHDAY!) to a weird sound. The sound was a major leak coming out of the ceiling right above her bed. We did our best to clean it up and put a pot under it to catch the water, by early morning it was pouring out streadily. I messaged LakeStay immediately at 3am. They sent someone in the morning but we needed to leave for a boat rental because again, it was my daughter’s 11th birthday. It is not the rental company’s fault that this happened along with several other issues however, the way it was handled was not the most professional in my opinion. I am not normally come to complain or even write a negative review. The emails and calls that went back and forth about our experience were mostly implying that we did something wrong. Like having the ac set too low. It was on 68. It wasn’t even intentional but it was also SO hot. The reason for the leak was a clogged line, which is more of a lack of maintenance issue than the 68 being set too low. We also had an issue with the oven not working on our last morning. LakeStay was quick to respond to emails and calls however, I felt like there was an attitude about it all. I understand it’s hard to make everyone happy, we are owners of our own vrbo and know that’s difficult sometimes. However, if I had someone have a completely disrupted trip several times but especially in the middle of the night I would have refunded them at least that 1 night. LakeStay told me they asked the owners if they would be willing to do that and I haven’t heard back since. I feel like given the experience there should be more communication. LakeStay might not be able to control if an owner is willing to refund something but there should be somethi
