Porvoo (or Swedish: Borgå) is only 15 km away from your accommodation and famous for its historic old town, which was already used as an international film location ("The Jackal" starring Bruce Willis). Worth seeing are the medieval cathedral and the so-called. Salt houses by the river, which originate from the Hanseatic period. Borgå was namely also an old Hanseatic city. It also housed the famous beyond the borders of painter Albert Edelfelt and the national poet Runeberg (lyricist of the national anthem). In addition to the former. Studio of the painter and the home of the poet there are many other museums, galleries and other attractions to visit. The former capital of the country was for centuries dominated purely Swedish, which is why today speaks a third of the population Swedish. 1809 Sweden from Finland from Russia were sold. The former Tsar Alexander I promised in the cathedral at Borgå Finland sovereignty as the Grand Duchy and did meet the first parliament here. For reminder you will find a statue of Alexander I at the altar of the cathedral.

The modern Borgå is a rapidly growing city with more than 50 000 inhabitants with all the shopping, sports and leisure facilities. You can find even two German LIDL markets that were very well received by the inhabitants.

(Called or speaking of the Swedish Helsingfors) Helsinki is only 60 km away and world famous as the daughter of the Baltic Sea. Visit in Helsinki necessarily the fish market and the old market hall.

St. Petersburg is 350 km away and as the "Venice of the North" (has more canals than Venice).

Tallinn, the capital of Estonia is to reach 80 km from Helsinki and the ferry across the Gulf of Finland. The beautiful old town is world-famous.

Stockholm You can use the lines Silja or Viking 2 night visit from Helsinki on the ship daily.
