About Rika Dockery

I was bitten by the travel bug as a child and never recovered. I've visited all 50 states and so far have been to 42 countries on 4 continents. I LOVE meeting people from all over the world, and especially hosting them in the welcoming, charming town of Waterloo. My dad's side of the family has roots in this area

Rika Dockery purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Rika Dockery chose Waterloo

My dad, uncle and grandfather built this cabin in 1953 on the Wolf property. Across the yard is the timber frame chalet my dad added in 1997. I love this location!! Walk to town but close to the city. Our guests typically come to visit St. Louis and are pleasantly surprised by all Waterloo has to offer.

What makes this cabin unique

If you "like" our social media page (Timberwolf, Waterloo IL) you will see links to area attractions. Small town, country living while near the city provides the best of both worlds.

Nifty historical cabin. Nice kitchen. Tiny shower.

Quiet area, good for unwinding. Interior of cabin very dark, could use a skylight. Would've spent more time outside but mosquitoes were ferocious. Not cabin fault obviously, just a fact.

Nice low key get away

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was super cute, cozy and clean. Well stocked kitchen and plenty of linens. There is a nice little winery not to far away. Walking to restaurants in downtown was convenient. There are also hiking trials within a short drive. The one downfall would be that the window air conditioning unit seems to be a bit small for the space but then again it is "sweltering summer in St. Louis." All in all a nice little getaway. A fall trip would be great for walking around exploring.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your 5* review Maria. We enjoyed hosting you and are glad you took advantage of Waterloo's offerings. Yeah, St. Louis summers are hot and muggy so please do come back in fall or in winter, when the cabin is even cozier. I'm always happy to recommend restaurants or attractions (based on your interests).

Gorgeous and Romantic

  • 5 of 5

We spent three nights here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we made a perfect choice. The cabin was very clean and inviting. King bed super comfy. Kitchen had all of the necessities to cook basic meals. Heat worked great. TV was perfect with all cable channels and movie channels. We even rented a DVD at Redbox nearby and used the DVD player. Only small issue was the WiFi would come and go depending upon where in the cabin you were. No huge deal but worth mentioning. Cabin was also very close to Downtown Waterloo with lots of great places to eat. We would definitely book this cabin again. Cabin interior reminded my wife of her grandmothers place when she was young.

Owner's Response: So glad you had a memorable anniversary! Thanks for letting me know about the wifi. We immediately had it checked out and repaired and it works better now! We hope to host you again. Try our cottage across the street next time - it has a different motif. Thanks again.
