A nicely renovated, traditional, stone-built cottage with basic but clean, adequate facilities on two levels - open-plan sitting area and bedroom above with small kitchen and shower below leading to a small veranda with amazing views across the bay to Albania. 400m (fairly steep) walk down (1km by car) to a small, secluded pebble beach with three good tavernas (two traditional and one more modern) and a cafe (love the coconut smoothie!). All have free wifi.
Good service from the owner and ladies who clean and keep an eye on things.
Ideal location for exploring the quieter north of the island (can be done using local transport but an air-conditioned car more flexible) such as Agios Stephanos, Kassiopi and Kalami with other hidden beaches accessible along wooded tracks. Many tavernas within easy reach - Dimitri's in the next village will pick you up if you book a table. Brilliantly stocked supermarket (Aphrodite's) with bakery and cashpoint in Nissaki.
Only negatives (depending on time of year) would be heat & humidity, mosquitos, wasps, hornets and barking dogs. Not ideal for anyone with limited mobility.
